Chapter 48 - The Final Dazzle

I waste no time in slashing at chipping spot on its claws while I have the chance.

Electricity arcs off my blade and throughout the arm of the Rezakiri with each slash as pieces of its shell fly.

As the shell of the claw gets exposed, the Rezakiri begins to stir.

Standing up on its legs and using its claws, it turns to face me while still on the ground.

Using the left claw that I've been slashing at, it lashes out with it, attempting to backhand me with it.

I easily dodge its attack, but instead of getting greedy and continue to hit it back off as I know what happens next.

Staying near its head, I watch as the Rezakiri throws its tail to the right, and it begin to flail its claws as the rest of the body follows.

The behemoth takes a second to reorient itself, and I capitalize.

I appear in front of the behemoth, electricity once again sparks off my blade as I swing at the left claw.

A sound like glass shattering resounds around the arena as the Rezakiri cries out in pain as it falls to the ground once again.

Adrenaline pumps through my veins as I ignore the creeping fatigue as I work on it's horn.

I grunt as I put more effort into my swings, each one leaving a trail of electricity that travels throughout the Rezakiris body.

The behemoth begins to stir, attempting to stand up as I continue slashing at its horns.

On one more swing, the Rezakiri starts to convulse as sparks appear all across it's body.

It falls to the ground once more and I continue to salsah at its horn, exposing that as well.

Raising my blade, I slash down, breaking off a piece of the Rezakiris horn, snapping its head back as it cries out in pain.

My arms begin to feel heavy, but I press on to take advantage of my chained stuns on the Rezakiri.

I focus on the behemoth's chest, leaving smaller gashes than what I did on the other limbs due to the strength of the armor.

After getting some hits in, the Rezakiri doesn't stay stunned for long.

Instead of it's usual approach of slowly getting up then going back to flying in the air, it skipped all those steps and immediately was back into the air.

The surrounding air of the Rezakiri began to rapidly heat up, making me take steps back as I watch the behemoth fly higher into the air.

It's aura takes on a red hue, as it brings its tail up as well.

As it slams it tail and claws on the ground, the Rezakiri's aura bursts like flames, knocking me back off my feet as I'm surrounded by a radiant bubble.

Getting up, the Rezakiri is no where to be seen as I pick up my fallen katana.

Raising the blade to break out of the bubble, the arena flashes with a blinding white as the Rezakiri appears before me.

Its eyes glow red as it appears to be on fire.

From experience, I recognize this as its enraged form, and I quicken my pace to break the radiant bubble as I know what's coming next.

The Rezakiri raises into the air, its tail on the ground as it forms light orbs on the ground before it once again.

Cracks form on the radiant bubble but as I glance at how many light orbs there are, I get momentarily stunned.

While in the enraged state, I guess the ferociousity of it's attacks intensify as well because there were now thousands of light orbs on the ground in front of it.

I once again enter the Galvanic state as I prepare for the upcoming onslaught of attacks.

Once in the Galvanic state, I strike repeatedly in the same spot and the radiant bubble shatters like glass around me, but it's a bit too late as the radiant orbs come flying at me.

Focusing on the attack before me, my eyes dart rapidly between the rows of orbs, searching and calculating my best route.

I fail to find one, as the sheer number of orbs are overwhelming, and they are clustered together to block any escape.

Sprinting to the orbs before they got too close, I think of the other more difficult way of clearing the orbs.

Seconds before I reach the massive waves of dangerous light orbs, a ball of electricity the size of basketball forms in my hand and I toss it to the ground behind me.

An explosion launches me in the air, as I wince in pain as the debris flings into my body.

My trick has successfully sent me sailing over the field of light orbs much like a Slayer who wields the pike would have gotten over the attack.

I safely clear the orbs, landing on the ground and a burst of pain travels through my body but I ignore it as I continue running, trying to make it to the safe zone.

The Rezakiri raises its tail, the once pink orb glows a dangerous red as five trails of light burn towards me.

Increasing my speed, I sprint to the left in an attempt to clear the path of the attack.

One of the beams barely grazes me as I make it past the attack and continue on behind the Rezakiri.

Once behind it, I watch as the beams continue on then sweep back towards where the radiant dome that I was trapped in once was.

Crouching, I use this time to heal myself from my self inflicted wounds.

In a final attack, more orbs of light appear in the air alongside the Rezakiri, but I show no concern as I'm clear of its path.

The orbs fall on the ground where the radiant dome once was and the Rezakiri hovers on the ground from exhaustion.

Remembering that the Rezakiri would enter the enraged and aether charged state once it was low, I prepared for an attack that would finish this.

Ignoring how low my bioelectricity reserves were, I focus a major portion of my energy into my right hand.

The entire blade becomes encased in electricity and hums as the Rezakiri recovers and turns around to face me.

I focus on the gap at the Rezakiri's chest that I made and aim.

If I miss the gap, I would run out of energy and I could expect failure.

The flames around the Rezakiri don't disminish as it charges at me, swiping with its claws.

The angle that it approaches doesn't give me a clear angle to attack at the gap, so I have no choice but to dodge its attack to the left.

The hulking figure of the behemoth sails past me as it loops around, preparing for another attack.

It flies towards me, spitting out three radiant orbs at my location.

Weaving in between the first two and their expolsions, I use the momentum of the third one to launch me into the air towards the behemoth.

Ignoring the intense burning sensation on my legs, I bring my blade back and focus on the small gap in it's chest.

Nearing it, the Rezakiri screeches as it didn't expect me to do such a thing but it's too late for it to react.

My blade slides in between the crack in it's shell and I release all the energy built up in the sword.

The entire frame of the Rezakiri glows a dark blue and lightning shoots out of its eyes.

The Rezakiri roars in pain, as a dark blue glow illuminates out of its mouth.

A pillar of lightning burns itself straight through the behemoth as it exits out its back between its wings.

With a final screech, we both fall to the ground.

The effects from the Galvanic state fade, as the pain begins to intensify, making me gasp from the feeling.

My limbs are heavy and my breathing labored as I can feel that my bioelectricity is all but nonexistent.

Slowly and painfully, I turn myself on my back and gaze up into the black sun as I feel the burn on my right arm.

I had underestimated the power of my own attack, and all my charred myself along with the Rezakiri.

Not only that, but I could feel the burn travel slowly up my leg as my very flesh was getting eaten by the radiant attack.

My first thought, wasn't to heal myself. All I could think about, was to go to sleep.

Somewhere in the back of my mind, a nagging feeling that I wouldn't wake up if I slept went ignored as I realized it was easier to just go to sleep.

My eyelids started to droop as the pain throughout my body began to fade, and I welcomed the relief.

Just as the last of the pain fades and my eyes close, a smile forms on my face from a pleasant feeling that surrounds me.

Just quickly as that pleasant feeling came, the pain returned. It was actually a new pain on my face.

My eyes shoot back open as I find myself looking to my left at the stands.

Looking back directly up, I look to see myself with a hand raised, poised for another slap.

"No. You're not taking the easy way out. Not until I'm done with you." Evil Shawn says.

A powerful energy begins to flow through my body, and I realize that he's sharing his own bioelectricity with.

My body instantly responds, as it begins healing.

Holding up my arm, I see the burnt skin peel and new skin form underneath as the pain fades from my body.

After a full minute, I stand, feeling no more pain as I notice that Evil Shawn has returned to his throne.

Now, I start to wonder why he saved me as he starts to address the crowd.

"Even I didn't expect him to get through such a foe, but here he is. Now, his toughest opponent yet."

I take a deep breath, mentally searching my mind for anything that I've fought that was more challenging than the Rezakiri.

The gates to the colloseum open and a lone figure confidently approaches me.

Confused I watch as the figure sticks out his hand for a greeting.

"Hello, son."
