Chapter 120 - Giving the Right Push

Shawn POV:

With the decision to continue forward was made, new information was developed, as it was apparent that omnic forces that originated from Canada that were supposed to reinforce New York, were instead headed towards us. Our analytics and strategist all suggested that we remain in the city and hold which would give us the advantage. It was estimated that they would arrive tomorrow, so I decided to spend that time with my team.

With the soldiers having a record recovery time, it gave my team some much-needed rest after their first ever mission. Walking into our designated building, each of them jump up when they see me, forgetting their fatigue as they rush me with questions. Seeing that I wasn't answering them, they calmed down, eagerly waited for my report.

"Well. We failed. They're sending us back to headquarters, where I assume that we will most likely be disbanded. If not, I'll be replaced and someone else will be assigned over you guys."

I relish in their looks of disappointment and defeat for a second before speaking again.

"Is what I would say if we didn't do so damn good. I'm proud to call you guys my team with how successful we were out there. If someone dares say that any of you are in the wrong for doing what you do, just know that it because of a misplaced hatred for me." I assure them.

Their moods drastically flop around, as many of them can't hold back their smiles. Seeing their looks after a clearly dangerous mission, right then and there, I make a decision that will seal the deal on their lives.

I take a second to sense if there are any extra bodies trying to listen in on the conversation. "S3bastian, do execute Order 42."

He stands, "To be clear, that's the one where I go on a rampage, killing any human I encounter while screaming, 'They were right all along'?"

Before anyone says anything, he corrects himself. "Oh wait, sorry everyone, I'm dyslexic. That was Order 24. I know what he meant now." He pauses for a second, looking around while ignoring everyone's mixed emotions.

"You're good, we're bug free." He confirms.

Relieved, I turn to the rest of them, who were rightfully confused with what was just said, but honestly, they should be used to it by now.

"As you all have guessed, our operation is expected to continue at this point. We have all experienced what the is most likely going to be nearly every day for us for at least the next five years. If anyone wants to back out, now's the time." I address them.

Marco cuts the silence from the group, "How can I quit now after what you just did? How are you going to pretend like you didn't glow like the sun by the way?"

I chuckle a bit. "Thats actually what I was about talk to you guys about. I bet you guys want to know all of what was done to you. Right?"

"It would be nice." Leslie says.

She shifts uncomfortably a bit as I study her bioelectricity activity to see that she has unconsciously improved on it. But I was beginning to understand that without knowledge, she would probably be always grasping at an answer but never holding it.

Turning my gaze from her, I look at the rest of them to find that only Leslie was remotely close to figuring out her bioelectricity. "What I'm about to tell you guys, is a secret that I've been keeping from the government as well. The true nature of my power, that I've shared with you guys. Before I've told you that I manipulate electricity, which is the partial truth. I control something that exists in all life, bioelectricity."

I can see that some can recognize the term, but others are confused. To get everyone on the same page, I continue. "Bioelectricity is the electrical current that flows through all living tissue and cells. It serves as a communication between cellular networks. Successfully manipulating it can amplify wound regeneration to say the least."

Sonya nods her head in agreement, " Yes, I remember looking up the subject when I was in medical school. It was just a theory at the time, as advancements on the matter weren't advanced."

"Wait. Wait. What does that mean for us though?" Marco asks as his hands are on the sides of his head in confusion.

"Think of it like this. Shawn is a god and shared his power with you and now you have the chance to be demigods among men." S3bastian says. If I was arrogant, his words would have been nothing less of the truth, however, I was humble enough to know what I was capable of while being weary that Anubis could figure out how to counter my new abilities eventually.

Spencer looks down at his hands, "Everyone has heard the rumors of what you did in Britain. Regenerating entire lost limbs within seconds. Even cancer was meaningless to you. Are we deserving of such a gift?" He questions out loud which hangs in the air.

"What do you want from us in return? Surely you didn't just grant us this for free?" Dwayne asks which makes everyone look at me.

"Well, this is all still experimental. I have no idea if you guys are even remotely capable of doing the same things that I can. Who knows, maybe I just gave you guys a new form of cancer, and you only have three years to live." My eyes dart to Leslie who was clearly deep in thought this entire conversation.

"Yes, I can confirm. Out of everyone here, you are the who is closest to understanding how to control bioelectricity. But I see that you've hit a wall, and without guidance, you'd probably never understand it. Therefore, I'm here to extend a helpful push to all of you. Everyone, lets join hands."

At first, they're unsure of themselves, as I stand there with my hands outstretched both ways. Virigina is the first one to lock hands with mine, followed by Leslie. Soon everyone joins in, and I begin to glow once again. One by one, the glow travels from one person to the next until all of us are radiating like the sun.

For the next minute, everyone's face was full of focus, as they clearly were searching for something within themselves. However, too much exposure at this point could be lethal to them. The glow dims, leaving the room in a bitter darkness, I ignore their pleading looks.

"Alright guys, rest well tonight, we're getting attacked tomorrow."
