Chapter 105 - The Final Cards Are Played

Shoutout to Genesis_Primordial and BeegBeegYochi. May you actually backcap the point as a Reinhardt in your next game.

General POV:

Mamoru wasn't in a good state. The fresh wound on his back from his own brother had him dejected and in shock. So much so, that he ignored the hits he was taking from the sisters and his brother. It wasn't until he received a hit to the nuts from the sneaky Kitsune that it snapped him back to reality.

Coming out of his shocked state, he came to a single decision. While these two deserved nothing less than death for what they did to his brother, maybe he, in turn, deserved whatever his brother did to him. For it was his fault that his brother was like this in the first place.

Yahiro is surprised, when her fists come into contact with Mamoru's elbow instead of his stomach like she was aiming for. Kitsune stops laughing as her attempt to hit him in the nuts again is blocked as well. Both sisters had mistaken him for being on death's door but found that he was just as strong as when the fight started.

Slapping Kitsune's shoulder, her sister turns to see her seriousness and knows that it's time to finish this. They both noticed that he fails to dodge his brothers' attacks, so it would only be fair for him to deliver the final blow. The sisters poise, ready to launch another assault. With a grim face, Mamoru also readies himself.

As if synchronized, the two sisters come at Mamoru in a flurry. Kitsune, despite her pregnancy, was nimble and dodged any counter blows headed towards her from Mamoru. Yahiro, however, was the opposite, who would instead block or even use her body to tank hits in an effort to land a blow.

Mamoru, of course, took notice of all this, and would adjust accordingly to their styles, fighting with a newfound resolve. After just a few engages, it became apparent that Mamoru was coming out on top as a punch land on Kitsune's stomach, making her stumble back gasping for breath.

While on the ground, after struggling for a bit, she addresses him. "Hey! That's your nephew that you're punching there."

Her words only fuel Mamoru's fury even more as he prepares to attack her again. Her eyes grow wide with surprise and fear as he unexpectantly appears before her with his wrist blade aimed at her. She averts her gaze, as a clanging of metal rings out through the room. Turning back, she looks to see her other sister, Otsuka, blocking his wrist blade with her own. Mamoru jumps back, as he understands that the situation just went from worse to worser.

If she was here, that could only mean....

"Wait... if you're here does that mean you dealt with the apprentice?" Kitsune asks with a glimmer of hope in her eyes.

Otsuka smiles from ear to ear. "You bet I did."

Yahiro begins to laugh, turning to a battered Mamoru, who tries to remain undeterred. "With your apprentice now out of the game, what chance do you have against us. Today, your clan will fall, and Japan will be ruled by the Hashimoto."

Otsuka takes that as her cue, and begins to step forward to dispatch Mamoru, but stops when Yahiro holds up her hand. Smiling, Yahiro looks at Kitsune, who for a brief moment blanks out before understanding what she wants.

With dread, Mamoru watches as his brother walks to him with a blank stare in his eyes. When Sojiro comes near, he raises his katana, with clear intent to cut his own brother down. Mamoru falls to his knees, head down in defeat, ready to accept death.

The weight of everything against him finally makes him succumb to the idea of giving up.

"It is wrong of me to ask this, but I have a request of you." Mamoru says. Sojiro pauses as he awaits orders. Yahiro smiles as she entertains him. "Go ahead."

"May you spare my brother. While my own life is forfeit, he doesn't deserve to suffer the same fate." Mamoru says with a dejected tone.

Yahiro looks at Kitsune, as she doesn't fully understand the spell, so she doesn't know if they need Sojiro alive or not.

"Well, that's a given. I require him for the spell's full effect. So, by default, we have no choice but to accept your request." Kitsune replies.

Mamoru figured as much, but he just needed to get some final resolve before he passed on and closes his eyes, waiting for death. Kitsune nods at Sojiro, and he brings his blade down. As he doesn't feel the pain of getting cut with a blade, Mamoru opens his eyes to find Shawn blocking Sojiro's blade just inches from his shoulder. Shawn applies force to his own weapon, making Sojiro stumble back. Turning to Mamoru, Shawn tells him,

"This isn't the Mamoru I know. Stand and let's win."
