AN: Thanks to 2cold2btrue for the name suggestion. I think the simplicity works like with Hebi and Taka. Also for readers of my previous story that thought it was a bit short. This one is probably gonna end up being at least twice as long as the previous story so yeah.
Also, I'm pretty sure I'm the only solo Sasuke/Mha fanfic to go past the Sports Festival so that's cool. It's a big reason why I started writing this.
—----------------------------
A couple days later in the underground area that Deidara and Sasori occupied, the construction was nearly finished. Deidara sat on the throne tapping his fingers with low eyelids. He gazed at the workers painting the walls red and sighed. Sasori leaned on a nearby wall playing on his phone. "Sasori, my man, do you think I should send him another letter? He's taking a while."
Sasori lowered his phone and looked up at him, "Huh? The construction isn't even finished. You know this was your idea, right?"
Deidara looked away, "Maybe... But either way, come on! Kurogiri made him sound so bloodthirsty! You'd think that he'd come here right after the Sports Festival! Hm!"
"Speaking of the Sports Festival, he was a lot stronger than the report we had on him at the USJ. He'll probably try to finish his Internship and get even stronger before coming here."
Deidara fell back in his chair and looked up, "That would be another ten days... I don't wanna wait that long."
Sasori glared, "Why do you think I said we should just kill him in his sleep?!"
"Because you're boring. Hm."
Sasori stuffed his phone in his pocket and turned to Deidara, "What did you say?"
Deidara smirked, "Hey calm down, my man. I'm messing with you, but either way, I won't let this art project go to waste prematurely. Even if he gets stronger he's not bridging the gap between us just from being in UA for less than one month." Deidara looked at the mouth on his hand, "He'll be engulfed in an artful explosion either way. Hm."
School life returned to normal within a couple of days. The classroom was filled with chatter until Aizawa entered the room. He looked much better, considering he didn't look like he was a mummy anymore.
"Today's hero informatics period is a little special. It's time to formulate your hero names."
The class erupted with cheers that soon died when Aizawa used his power. "This is related to the draft nominations by pros I mentioned the other day. The nominations will truly start mattering only after you've gained some experience, and when your adaptable fighting ability is judged during your Sophomore and Junior years. In other words, the nominations this year are more like interest in your future potential."
The board behind him lit up, "The results are usually more balanced, but this year it leaned mainly towards three of you."
The top three rankings went like Todoroki: 4,123 votes; Uchiha: 4,088 votes; and Bakugo: 3,023.
Bakugo snarled
"First and second place are reversed for some reason." Kirishima pointed out
Sasuke eyed the board, 'A less than fifty-point difference? That's whatever, there should still be some top heroes among those numbers. I doubt Endeavor would nominate me since I beat his son, but maybe Best Jeanist or Edgeshot could have nominated me.'
Midnight came into the room, "The names you pick now often stay the same after becoming pros!"
Aizawa stated, "She is correct. Midnight will be evaluating your naming sense; Because I can't do stuff like that." He pulled out his sleeping bag, "When you give yourself a name, you get a more concrete image of what you want to be like in the future, and you can get closer to it. This is what they mean when they say 'Names and natures do often agree.' Like All Might, for example."
Everyone got a board and there wasn't a peep in the classroom. Sasuke thought, 'Names and natures often agree, huh? Well, it doesn't need to be anything complicated, how about...'
Fifteen minutes passed by and the loudspeaker told the class it was time to give their hero names. After Aoyama, Ashido went up, "Hey, I'm next! Call me Alien Queen!"
Midnight rejected the proposal. Sasuke had to suppress a chuckle as he remembered the Aliens movie he rewatched last year. 'It fits.'
A few turns later Sasuke went up with his board, presenting it to the class. 'The Scarlet-Eyed Hero: The Avenger.'
Midnight gave a thumbs up, "Ah you're a Marvel fan? That'll work great!"
Aizawa, Midoriya, and Mina frowned at the name choice, but most blew it off.
Uraraka said, "I didn't know Sasuke was a comic guy."
Midoriya thought, 'He's probably not.'
Sasuke went back to his seat and propped his head on his hand to hide an earpiece. He was more interested in studying up on anatomy than knowing everyone's hero name. 'I've learned everything I can about bones by now. I could make a full-body skeleton now if I wanted. Once the upper body was finished, the only hard part was the feet; However, I don't think that would be the best choice. Could I add muscles to the skeleton? Skin? Hell, maybe even armor? Time to see just how far I can go with Susanoo.'
Class ended and Midoriya made his way out of class with Iida and Uraraka. 'I should catch up.' Sasuke got up and began strolling over to them, but he caught himself and stopped; upon remembering the letter he went in another direction, looking down at the ground. 'Time... Time to put that behind me.'
Another couple of days passed, and Aizawa was reviewing the training choices his students chose. "Strange Iida should have had much better nominations to choose from. Does he really want to go to the Hosu office?"
A knock on the door made Aizawa turn his attention to the door. He approached it and opened it, revealing a tense Mina. "Ashido, did you need something?"
She smiled up at him, "H-Hey, Aizawa-sensei. Is it ok if I can see where Sasuke is interning at?"
He raised a brow, "Why?"
She looked down for a minute before staring at him seriously and losing her smile, "You wanted my help with making sure Sasuke stays out of trouble, right? Well, I feel like Sasuke is going to try to chase after trouble really soon. I gotta go to the same city he's going to!"
"You want to try and make sure he doesn't end up getting himself killed?"
She nodded, "Yeah!"
Aizawa rubbed his neck and sighed, "I told him before that I'll expel him if he tries to pull what he did at USJ—"
"That wouldn't stop Sasuke! He'd go ahead and get himself killed! He's at least getting stronger here."
Aizawa narrowed his eyes, "What do you expect me to do? Just let him do as he pleases?"
She shakes her head and clenches her fist, "No! Let me take care of it, I can get through to Sasuke this time!"
Aizawa analyzed her expression, searching for any sign of doubt anywhere.
He sighed, "Fine. He's going to Edgeshot's office in Musutafu."
Mina smiled and hopped, "Thank you, Aizawa-sensei!"
"You better make sure he doesn't chase after anyone or—"
"I got it! I'll take care of it, don't worry!" Mina ran out of the door and Aizawa shook his head.
Later that day the class made their way to the train station. "You've all got your costumes, right? Obviously, wearing them in public is prohibited, and don't lose them either."
Ashido replied, "Got iiiiiit!"
"Don't stretch out that "got it", Ashido, and be sure to mind your manners. Ok, let's go!"
Tokoyami, Ashido, and Sasuke got on the same train, but sat in different parts of it. Sasuke thought, 'Those guys on the train mentioned Musutafu. Good thing Edgeshot has an agency there. He should be able to help me get stronger, and then I should start investigating at some point where to find Deidara and Sasori.'
Occasionally Mina would glance at Sasuke. She grasped the small device in her hands, 'Just gotta plant this on his costume. Aizawa said it would help me track him. I hope he's right.'
Back at UA, Toshinori sat down with Detective Tsukauchi who gave him the details of the Nomu's DNA analysis. He pulled up a photo of what the Nomu used to look like. "He's got a criminal record: battery and blackmail. We're talking about a small-time thug here. We discovered that he has the DNA of at least four completely different people mixed into his own."
Toshinori sweated, "Is this... Is this human?"
"It looks as though his entire body has been tweaked and fooled around with drugs and the like. Putting it in cheaper terms, he's an artificial human who's been made to measure up to multiple quirks."
Toshinori's eyes widened, 'Multiple quirks? Just like...'
Tsukauchi sipped his coffee, "The striking drop in his brain activity seems to result from that load on his body. In any case, the issue of his DNA is more germane than the state of his body. The fact that it contains multiple quirks, that is. Unless the DNA he's assimilated is some kind of advanced genetic familial permeation; he couldn't have acquired multiple quirks that way. No, this is probably the work of a quirk that can grant quirks."
Toshinori squeezed his knees, 'There's no doubt about it now... All For One is out there! Sasuke was right! Speaking of Sasuke... He has multiple quirks!' He spoke up, "Tsukauchi, a student in Class 1-A, Uchiha Sasuke. Have you heard of him?"
"The one that won the Sports Festival? It's hard not to. Why?"
Toshinori narrowed his eyes, "Young Sasuke has two quirks. One of which was granted by AFO a decade ago when he was five."
Tsukauchi's eyes widened, "What?! And he's completely fine?"
He nodded, "Yeah, he's doing great, actually. However, he refuses to use the quirk given by AFO."
Tsukauchi put a hand under his chin, "How could that be possible? Maybe it could be because it was given to him when he was young, so his body had time to adapt. Probably not... Maybe it's because it's only two quirks and not four? Possible. Or do you think it could be something special about his quirk that counteracts the load multiple quirks cause?"
"I have no idea. Maybe we could run some tests on Sasuke's quirk factor the next time he's available."
"That would be appreciated. Depending on the results, we might be able to make some progress in this case."
The train made its stop at Musutafu, and most of the people on the train stood up. Mina stood on her toes and locked her eyes on Sasuke who was none the wiser and slowly squeezed her way towards him through the crowd. As she shoved past all the chattering people she thought, 'It's a little hard to reach him, and I can hardly hear myself think with all these people talking... But the density of this crowd should make it harder for him to notice me touching his costume.'
She finally reached Sasuke and discreetly placed the device in his costume before getting away. 'Yes. Mission successful! I won't let you get yourself killed you suicidal idiot!'
Sasuke jogged through Musutafu as he made his way to the east side through the south side. He scanned the area and took a few small detours on his way to the Edgeshot agency. The most noticeable difference was how much litter was everywhere compared to other parts of the city. Along with the fact that not nearly as many people walked around. 'These buildings are definitely in need of renovation. Although I don't see any shady dealings going on. They probably only happen at night.'
In Edgeshot's main office, he was standing in front of a TV with a VR headset on playing Beat Saber on a losing streak. He swung his hands around like a madman when a girl with her brown hair up in two buns wearing a white kunoichi outfit with red flames came into the room with papers.
"Um… Mr. Edgeshot? Could you take a break from Beat Saber?" She approached him slowly and reached out towards him, but stopped when she side-eyed the TV. Her eyes went wide, 'The final boss!'
She pulled her hand back quicker than the return stroke of lightning. 'That was close! He definitely would have paralyzed me if I messed him up on the last level! I'll just have to wait until he beats it.'
She stared between Edgeshot and the screen as another minute passed until there were no more things to hit and Edgeshot threw his hands up, "YES! I KNEW I'D BEAT IT BEFORE YOU, TSUNAGU!"
The personal secretary smiled and clapped, "Great job, Mr. Edgeshot! I knew you could do it."
He jumped back and ripped the headset off like it was the symbiote suit, "Tenten! How long have you been here?"
"Only since you started the level."
"Only?!"
"Yes, you did great, but Uchiha along with some other applicants are on the way. You gotta get ready!"
Edgeshot regained his composure and cleared his throat. "I see. I heard that he prefers Sasuke. You can organize where the other applicants go. I'm going to train Sasuke personally."
He disappeared, and she blinked before giggling. "I haven't seen him this excited about an applicant since… well me."
Sasuke got out of the south side and got closer to the agency. 'The map says it's on the outskirts of the city; the buildings are starting to get smaller. Wouldn't an agency normally be in the middle of a city to get to the danger as fast as possible?... Is that it?'
Instead of the giant cement and glass building he expected, he was greeted by a collection of traditional Japanese-style buildings. The biggest of which was a mix of red and black as a secondary color; It even had the sliding paper and wood doors.
Sasuke marched up the steps and opened the sliding door to be greeted by the sight of... Nothing. The room was an empty dojo. His eyes analyzed everything he could. There were many different ninja tools: kunai, shuriken, swords, smoke bombs, claws, spikes, bow & fire arrows, sickle & chain, climbing hooks, and wires.
Sasuke approached the wall of weapons with a tense brow, "Wires? How would you use wires in a fight?"
"That's what you're going to learn with time."
Sasuke jumped and jolted around to see Edgeshot with his arms crossed. "When did you get here?"
"I was always here, you just weren't looking."
"I looked all around this room."
Edgeshot raised a finger, "Just because your eyes moved around, doesn't mean you were looking."
Sasuke raised a brow and Edgeshot continued, "I'll teach you what that means eventually, but for now... let's spar."
Sasuke blinked, "Already?"
Edgeshot got into a fighting stance, "Isn't that why you went to the highest-ranking agency you could? You wanted to get stronger. Now let me see firsthand how you won the Sports Festival!"
Sasuke couldn't suppress a big smirk and chuckled as he threw his bag to the side, "I'm already liking it here. Alright Edgeshot, I'm ready!"
