Chapter 6 - To believe or not to believe

Derrick was speechless at the fact that Elvira slapped him right on his right cheek. "Guess I shouldn't have hugged her, "he thought while rubbing his right cheek. Elvira walked away and then sat down in her chair. She was not impressed. In fact, she was pissed by Derrick's action. Derrick apologized for his action, but Elvira turned her back against him.

"Derrick, remember what you came for. Did I tell you to touch me?" She asked furiously.

"No, my lady. I shouldn't have touched you." Derrick looked down at the carpet without flinching. Elvira turned to him and then stood up from her seat. Her hand caressed his face again and said, "As long as you remember. Call me by my name. You are not my associate. You belong to me. You are my person."

"Yes, Elvira." Derrick was slowly getting used to this, but he had to think of a way to escape. He wouldn't dare to smile nor laugh at her presence. He followed Elvira outside of her office, and she led him to her bedroom. She sat on her bed and looked at him.

"Come closer." She demanded him to walk closer to her. Derrick walked tawards her then stopped, "Elvira... what is it that you want?" She laughed and said, "You really think we are doing that?" She grabbed a small sharp knife, then suddenly, she aimed it at his neck.

"Derrick, I didn't know you are that type of person. Unless I tell you to, understood?"

"Yes. I apologize." Derrick closed his eyes and then swore at himself, "What were you thinking?!" He opened his eyes slowly, and Elvira touched her sharp knife with her slender finger. Derrick remained silent as he watched Elvira smiling at the knife.

"Derrick, do you know who gave me this knife?"

"No, who is it?"

"My father. He passed away a few years ago." Elvira remained emotionless, unfazed, and cold.

"He was killed by a certain person. If I find that person, do you know what I will do?" She looked at Derrick, and he was in confusion. He shook his head.

"I will skin him alive. Torture him until he confesses. Watching him struggling will be fun to watch. Are you afraid of me?" She asked Derrick, and then he immediately answered, "No." She stood up and got something out of the drawer.

"If you are not afraid of me, then that's good. Do you know what this is?"

"Used for tattoo?" He replied.

Derrick looked at the sharp needle, and then she asked him to turn around. But then, he hesitated.

"You said you were not afraid of me."

"I'm not afraid of you. But do we have to do this? Can we do this a bit later?" Elvira glided her fingers along Derrick's arm, "Do you think you have the right to ask me questions?" Derrick shook his head.

"No. I don't."

"Then, if you want to live, turn around." Elvira waited as Derrick slowly turned around.

"Ah!" He touched his neck and knelt down. He couldn't believe he got the tattoo. He's an officer, yet he couldn't get out of Elvira's grasp. Elvira whispered, "Remember what I said today?" Derrick shook his head and tightly covered his neck. "Remember, you belong to me. You don't belong to anyone else. Understood?"

"Y.. Yes..." He stuttered. Then Elvira gently held his face with both of her warm hands, "As long as you have my mark, you will be protected."

Derrick slowly got up as he was feeling a bit faint. He took a deep breath and remained calm.

"Follow me. I have a job for you." Elvira led the way, and they were back to her office.

She asked Ling to close the door as they would discuss some private things. Elvira took out a file and handed it to Derrick. He looked into the file and froze.

"What do you want me to do?"

Elvira sat on her desk while painting her nail polish, "Your job will be infiltrating the same company as that businessman. He failed to do his job properly, so I killed him." Derrick tightly gripped the file, then his hands shook with anger.

"Your other job is to tell me the safe code and bring their manager to me in one piece. Understood? You will be tracked by that tattoo. Everything you say will be recorded and every movement as well. Don't play any small tricks on me. It won't work like last time."

Derrick wanted to resist, but he had to remain cool and collected. He got to gather every information so he could record it to the police chief.

"I understood. How long do I have?"

He asked.

"Three days." She replied, "Can you do it?"

"Yes." He replied without any hesitation. Derrick gave the file back to Elvira, and she took out an envelope from her desk drawers.

"Derrick, if you manage to complete this. This is the truth of your mother's death."

"How did you know my mother?" He was a little suspicious about this, but he had to get more information about it.

"I will tell you the truth after you complete your mission. Understood?" She walked towards him and placed her hand on his chest, "Derrick, whether you believe me or not. It's up to you. But this envelope will be waiting for you."

He looked at Elvira and tried to get a sense of everything that was happening. As he calmed down, he replied, "I will do whatever you ask."

"Good. I'll be waiting for your good news. Ling! Amber! Report his every movement to me. If he's in contact with the police in any way, bring him to me. I will deal with him."

Ling and Amber hurriedly went over to her, and both of them bowed in respect.

"Yes, my lady."

"Go now. And close the door before you leave."
