"Mum your phone has been ringing like crazy" Rachel shouted from the sitting room to her mother who's in the kitchen.
"Can you answer it please" Mrs Lewis replied.
she has decided to prepare dinner herself since it's been long Jason ate her food and her husband hasn't been home recently.
"on it" Racheal replied as she stood up to get the phone.
"Oh it's your son" She said before answering it.
"If the reason you're calling is to inform us that you're not coming home tonight, just cancel it because mum is in the kitchen cooking for you right now" Rachel said.
"Sorry to tell you this, the owner of this phone was in an accident and has been rushed to the hospital" Someone said from the other end.
"Sorry can you come again" Rachel said confused.
"I believe the owner of this phone is Jason" The person said again.
"Yes that's right, what happened to him" Rachel asked already panicking.
"He was informed in an accident some minutes earlier and already on his way to the hospital, please find your way to hope hospital as soon as possible" The person said then ended the call.
"Hello, what did you say happened to my brother, hello" Rachel said shouting at the phone.
"What's the Matter" Mrs Lewis said rushing out of the Kitchen.
as she heard Rachel's screams.
"Ja....Jason" Rachel said as she lost her balance and sat on the floor.
"What happened to Jason" Mrs Lewis asked as she bend down before her.
"Accident" She said trembling.
"Rachel, pull yourself together and tell me what happened" Mrs Lewis shouted at her.
"Jason had an accident" She finally said.
"What, where, how".
"I don't know but he has been rushed to my hospital" Rachel said and quickly stood up, she went inside to get her bag and rushed out of the house with her car key.
"Wait for me" Mrs Lewis said following Racheal outside.
They quickly got into the car and rushed to the hospital.
They got to the hospital after 40 minutes and they quickly rushed into the hospital.
Rachel quickly rushed into the Emergency room after telling her mum to wait in the reception.
"Who's in charge of this guy" Rachel asked as she spotted Jason lying on the bed unconsciously.
"It's Doctor Luke, he just went out for a meeting with the director to perform a surgery on him" A nurse replied.
"Why, what's with the surgery" Rachel asked.
"We ran a CT Scan on him and it detected that he had brain injuries, we removed some shards of glass from his head when he was rushed in" The nurse said.
"Oh God what's happening" Rachel said putting her hand on her waist.
She turned around and her eyes met with a familiar face Lying on the bed.
"Huh, isn't that Matthew" She said the moved closer.
"How did he get here" She asked the nurse pointing to Matthew.
"He was rushed in together with him, he had fainted due to the shock, he'll be awake soon" The nurse replied.
"That's good, Please inform me once he's awake" Rachel said and was set to leave the ER.
"Where am I" Matthew said opening his eyes slowly.
"Matthew are you awake, follow my fingers If you're okay" Rachel said and raised up her hands while Matthew followed with his eyes as she moved it left and right.
"You're okay" She said.
"What are you doing here Rachel and where is Jason" Matthew asked.
"You're in the hospital, and I work here, Jason is still unconscious" Rachel told him.
"Huh, is he badly injured, can I go see him" Matthew asked.
"He needs surgery, and you have to rest too if you don't want to faint Again, you'll see each other soon. can you tell me what happened" Rachel said.
"The last thing I remembered was that my mum called me and he volunteered to drive me home since I was drunk" Matthew said.
"Doctor Rachel, thanks God you're here, please help me ring up someone from this young man's family, I need their signature before I can operate on him" Doctor Luke said walking into the ER in a rush.
"I'll sign the papers, he's my brother" Rachel said to him.
"Really, are you sure he's your brother or you want to do it out of pity" Doctor Luke asked.
"He's my brother, my younger brother, where's the paper I'll sign it right now, we can't waste anymore time" Rachel said.
She collected the papers from him and signed it. An operating room was quickly prepared for Jason and he was taken in for surgery. Rachel went to the reception to her mum who was still waiting anxiously and told her the situation, she kept her rest assured that everything was going to be okay. She then called back Jason's number and the person who had called earlier answered it. The person was in the hospital premises so they met up with him and thanked him for helping Jason and Matthew, they collected Jason's phone from him and they parted ways.
Hours Later, Jason surgery was over and he was moved to a VIP room with Matthew.
Mrs Lewis sat beside Jason and waited for him to wake up.
She was allowed to be with him even when it was not the visiting hours because of her husband's influential status.
Matthew's mother came to the room and she met Mrs Lewis.
She happened to be a VIP customer at Mrs Lewis shopping mall. Mrs Lewis had awarded her the best customer of the year the previous year so they were familiar with each other.
Finding out that their children were friends, They exchanged greetings and chatted for a while. Matthew's mum went home after seeing him fall asleep leaving Matthew in Mrs Lewis care.
The next morning Jason finally regained consciousness and called out to Matthew as he slowly opened his eyes.
"Buddy, I'm here" Matthew replied grabbing his hands.
"His he awake" Mrs Lewis said as she walked in after going out for fresh air.
"Yes, he just called my name" Matthew said.
"Jason are you okay" Mrs Lewis asked.
" I'm fine mum, Matthew are you okay, are you hurt anywhere" Jason asked looking at Matthew's body.
"Hey, look after yourself first, did you know how many hours you were unconscious for, I only fainted and have woken immediately" Matthew said.
"Mum how is Jason, is there any sign of improvement" Rachel said as she entered the room, she had just finished a roll-call and decided to check on her brother before taking a rest.
"he's already awake" Matthew said.
"Thank Goodness, hey, did you know how worried I was when I heard about the accident, thank God you're alive, now I can kill you myself" Rachel said walking close to him and pretending to want to poke his eye with her finger.
"Relax sis, it's nothing serious" Jason said.
"Nothing serious you say, do you need a mirror so that you can see the bandage on your head, how would you know you had a brain surgery when you were unconscious, and you said it's not serious" Rachel yelled at him.
"Can't you do this later Rachel, he's just recovering" Mrs Lewis said. Rachel was scolding Jason and Matthew and Mrs Lewis were trying to free him from her when the door opened and someone else walked in.
"Matthew I heard you were in an accident" Skye said as walked inside.
"Look who we have here" Matthew said.
"Are you here to mock me, because that's the look on your face" He added.
"Your mum informed my dad about your accident and she request that I take care of you because she was busy" Skye replied.
Rachel and Mrs Lewis left Jason's front as he was telling them that they were blocking his view, he wanted to see the person Matthew was talking to. They left his front and his eyes met with Skye's, he felt awkward looking at her and she was staring back at him.
"Jason" Skye finally said.
"Huh, Do I know you" Jason asked looking confused.
"When did you come back, and why didn't you tell me you were back" Skye said as she walked closer to him.
"Sorry, I don't understand what you're talking about" He replied.
"Matthew what's going on here, do I know her" he asked.
"You know Matthew, Matthew how did you know Jason" She also asked him.
"We went to the same high school, Jason I don't know if you know her but she's the one I'm getting married to in a month" Matthew replied them both.
Rachel who had been observing the situation was confused because she knew Skye was Jason's ex-girlfriend but couldn't say why he doesn't remember her.
"Jason, are you sure you don't know her" Rachel asked.
"Do you know her" Mrs Lewis asked Rachel.
"She's Mr. Adams Daughter" Rachel whispered into her mum's ear.
"I don't think I know her, if I do I'll remember her right" Jason said.
"How could you have forgotten me Jason, how could you, did you even love me at all" Skye said as tears dropped from her eyes.
"What's she talking about, is there something I need to remember about her" Jason asked Rachel.
"I'm coming, I need to see doctor Luke, but before I go Please Skye don't disturb him" Rachel said and walked out of the room.
Skye found herself a seat and started crying, Jason looked at her for a while then looked at somewhere else wondering why she was crying. Matthew went to meet her and asked her what was between she and Jason and she explained to him that they used to be lovers before he travelled abroad then it hit Matthew that she was the Skye he was always talking about.
"Doctor Luke, I think you'll have to run Electroencephalography (EEG) on Jason, he seems to have forgotten something I'm very sure he won't forget" Rachel said as she entered Doctor Luke's office.
The doctor then prepared him for the brain test and they found out he had infantile amnesia. It was explained that he might have forgotten about her due to the fact that he hasn't seen her for years. They were advised to not bring up the past as it can make him loss his memory of her forever.
"Doing things they've done in the past will be appreciated, It will trigger his memory" Doctor Luke explained to Rachel, Matthew, Skye and Mrs Lewis.
