I woke up to darkness. It was all around me, and I couldn't see anything. I tried to move, but my body wouldn't respond. Panic set in as I realized I couldn't feel my limbs. Was I paralyzed? Was I dead?

Suddenly, a voice echoed in my mind. "Welcome, adventurer. You have been reborn in the Dungeons and Dragons universe."

Reborn? What did that mean? And why was there a voice in my head? As if in response to my thoughts, the darkness lifted, and I found myself in a small room. It was dimly lit by torches on the walls, and there was a door at the far end.

I sat up, or at least tried to. That's when I saw it - my body. Or what was left of it. I was a skeleton. Bones held together by magic, with empty eye sockets and a gaping jaw. My heart raced as I tried to process what had happened to me.

The voice spoke again. "You have been given a second chance. You are now a skeleton, but you retain your memories and intelligence from your previous life."

My previous life? I couldn't remember anything about it. All I knew was that I was now in a strange world, with no idea how to navigate it.

I stood up, feeling the strange sensation of bones moving against each other. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before. As I took my first steps, the door at the end of the room opened, revealing a figure standing in the doorway.

It was a human, dressed in robes and carrying a staff. "Welcome to the world of Dungeons and Dragons," he said with a smile. "I am your guide."
