My name is Josiah Abital, through my actions I have rewritten the history of my family to preserve our good nature and hide the dark underbelly from the public. I have saved the world from a curse, but my own curse is to forever remain in the shadows. My story has been carved into the walls of my great house, in which my family has resided in for generations. If you are hearing my tale, then perhaps it is far too late for you, however, if you follow my story, you may find a way out just yet.
Through many attempts I have tried to break this curse that falls upon me and my family, however any attempt to do so has caused everything but success. My first attempt was in the year 1960, however, the same day and at the same time I attempted to break the curse, was the 1960 Chilean Earthquake. Thinking it just a coincidence, I tried once again in 1964, once again, at the same time I attempted to break the curse, The Good Friday Earthquake struck. Every attempt I made directly correlated to a natural disaster that hit the US. Every Single one. From The Palm Sunday Tornado Outbreak, all the way to Hurricane Floyd. Every single one was my fault.
As my guilt slowly piled up throughout the years, I began to realize how drastic this curse was, not just to the world, but to my family. My sister died first, in a horrific car accident, we all viewed it as a bad thing at first, however for me, it was great. My father had the intent to leave me out of the will, however with the death of my sister, he had no choice but to leave me his entire wealth and estate. I didn't see it at first, but I was always protected. I never knew why, until I was on my deathbed.
I had decided to take a journey of self discovery, little did I know during this time, both my mother and father would be shot to death while I was gone. I found my way to a monastery called svargaarohan ka sthaan, truly a wonderful place. My journey there was short, but I left with a smile. I felt free for the first time in my life, but as I said, returning to dead parents, ruined it all for me.
Without any time to mourn I took over my fathers company and immediately got to work of course, I never really wanted anything to do with my father's company, but I suppose that's just how it is. However with these new company resources I've found it easier to dig deeper into the mysteries of my family and discover more of this unsettling curse, rather than keep trying to break it. Little did I know what I was about to discover would change my life forever.
I had a crew bring a priest before me, I had never seen a priest like this though. He was short and stocky, wearing dark robes and a hood covering every inch of his body. He seemed more like one entangled with the occult then the lord, but my men swore that this man would be able to assist me in all my battles against the curses. Lord I hope that he's right, I have a daughter on the way, I don't want her tangled in this mess too
Ever since hiring this man, it appeared as though very little had changed in my life, at least that's what I thought before he brought this book to me. At first I was confused, until I realized it was my father's log book. I found myself wondering how he got his hands on this but the best answer right now was to not question it. I had finally gotten a piece of my family's history, it was another step closer to the truth
Wounds never truly heal, at least that is what I believed for the longest time, and this newest revolution just cemented it for me. My father's log book told the story of him and his father. Sacrificial nonsense, it was disgusting at first, but as I kept reading I learned of the mistakes made in my family, attempts to break this curse, all the same as what had happened to me. This won't stop me from trying
As I continued to read through these stories, I learned of the horrors my father faced through this curse. The ritual had to be continued otherwise our family would be ruined. Everything would be ruined
My father at first lived in a small city known as Thurmond Virginia. It was an amazing town, prosperous more than any others, thanks to his father's efforts and seemingly endless luck. However when his father passed away it fell unto him to take over what his father had left behind. If only he had known what this meant at the time maybe all this could have been prevented.
My father learned of our family's wicked deeds and soon found himself refusing to carry on the legacy, he refused to kill his son to continue our deal with the demons who had cursed our family, what a terrible idea this was. Soon, the banks shut down, fires raged and destroyed most businesses in the town, many people died. My father reports this was all the doing of a mysterious demon. And soon later, everything the town was good for was shut down with the introduction of diesel, making steam and railroad jobs completely and utterly obsolete.
He found it was all because he refused to complete the ritual on time, the demon threatened to swallow the town, kill everyone in it and drag them to hell if he did not finish the ritual. And so he did, he slaughtered my older brother, as a sacrifice to the demon, to make things right and soon they were. My father managed to escape and the same luck as his father had came to him. He was perfect in every way, same as what I had become, The luck passes down to your next of kin. I knew what I had to do, but I don't know if I had the strength to do it
I spoke to my wife about all this, and she said it was nonsense, that she would go to the police with these threats. I managed to talk her down and found a way to prove it to her, I don't know how I did it, I don't even know what came over me. I had blacked out and when I came to, she had agreed. So when my daughter was born, I would sacrifice her.
The best part of it all, was when it came time for the ritual, the man in the cloak approached me, and explained to me what needed to be done. He took me to a shrine where I drove a wicked blade into my child, sacrificing it to the great demon, so that my family could live in peace, but now I knew what I had to do.
As soon as I had the chance I erased all evidence of my family's existence off of the map, if the world found out about what my family had done we'd be ruined forever. We were inventors, Philosophers, humanitarians, voyagers for the future of mankind, what would we as a people do if we learned the truth of my family, everything we've built would be resented, the world as we know it would crumble under this weight, under this guilt. The truth can never be known, no matter the cost.
Soon my second daughter was born, and I could not have been more happy, she was a beautiful, and a perfect child. Despite this, I did not want these rituals to continue, so I kept trying to break the curse, until eventually I realized it may be far too late, my daughter had to be the one to carry this curse, perhaps she could succeed where I have failed. She could save our family, protect this world from this great evil.
As I neared the last days of my life, I spoke to a man who swore he was a master of ancient and dark magics. I knew I should have faith in my daughter, but as she grew older, so did her dependency on this curse. I could feel it from her, the insanity that lay deep in her soul, she would not attempt to break the curse as I thought, no i feared she would make things far worse as my father had. She had to kill her first born, but would she? I have my doubts. This would be a disaster
The man told me he could give me a second chance at life, to break this curse, but it would come at a great cost, I would not have my memory, so I would not know all that I do about this curse, and I would most likely not be born with the same power and luck I have in this life thanks to my father's sacrifices, but truly I had no choice. I knew what had to be done, and I was going to see it through.
As I lay in my death bed, waiting to pass away so I could reach my second chance, I had an epiphany. If I would not retain my memory I would engrave these words into my family home, for you to find. For me, to find. With the last of my strength, I called upon an ancient and dark magic in an attempt to store my story into the walls, so that I may find it again. I will be compelled to return here and I will break this curse once and for all, for the sake of everyone, for the sake of my family, for the sake of the world,

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I tried to stand straight, but pain shot through my leg as I continued to read. I thought I was just named after my grandfather, but, could this be that… I'm his second chance. I am Josiah. My mission, everything that has happened, I will fix everything. I have to.
Retreating to the bathroom of this house, I found it was still amply stocked with first aid. Treating my wounds, I forced another burst of energy through myself so that I could make it into a bed and rest, now I knew what I had to do. "Mikey… I'm coming for you, and I will end all of this"
