"Nathan, next week I'll be gone with your sister on a trip, take this"
Nathan's father, handed him a book. It looked old, designs that looks like the ones traditional people use back in the days where slavery rules, It had metal edges, although rusted yet firm,it's pages were probably over 1000 with some pages torn off. On the front cover of the of the page was an ancient image of a dragon. Although the book was old, the dragons eyes were blood red, with golden pupils like that of a reptile,it's mouth was open which revealed layers and layers of razor sharp teeth.
Its mouth was as black as night, with a glowing energy in it's throat, it's colour was a mixture of red, gold, blue. Those were the only colours visible as some if the colours have faded away in the endless river of time.
The dragons scale gave of a faint metal-like sheen despite how old the book was, even more astounding was that the dragons scale was painted gold with an unknown material that cannot be found anywhere in the current world, this image gave off an ancient aura, strange energy emanated from it although not visible and certainly not strong enough to be fully sure of yet it was there.
Nathan felt the need for respect to such a book as it gave off a feeling of dominance as well. It was a well kept book which is in great condition considering how old it was, probably thousands of years old.
Nathan stared at the book for what seemed like an eternity as his gaze then shifted to his father. His father's voice rang out again in his ears,
"Nathan, this book is an ancestory ornament passed down from generation to generation, It was passed on to me from my father, and from me to you . In this book, you shall know knowledge beyond the limits of this world, a book bound to make gods tremble at it's presence. You should not let anyone know about this book, not even your own siblings as silly as it may sound."
Nathan was perplexed by his father's words,a book not even his siblings should know about?, A book even gods would tremble at the mention of it's name? ,
all this sounded like a story you would read in novels and such fantasy based movies and stuff. Nathan couldn't help but let his curiosity get the better of him.
"Dad what is this book about that even Ethan and Eleanor can't know about?, what about mom?, can I let her know?"
Nathan's father looked him in the eyes with seriousness yet a trace of unwillingness in his eyes as he said in an indifferent tone,
"The time to come is not ours to control, Things like trust and friendship with other unecessary things of the such are nothing but ticking time bombs for death and destruction"
Nathan's father continued
"Sure these things are necessary at times but they are lethal weapons most of the time, You are smart and witty, I trust you will make right decisions from here on. Death awaits every corner we turn. A fight to the death, a battle that has gone down in history is the battle between death us. You never know what awaits you."
Nathan stared at his father as if he was staring at a stranger, his father was the playful yet stern man who played by his rules and principles, his words were absolute, not only in his own house yet even holds an important position in the world. He was the CEO of the famously known "NOVA-COMPEX" for his country. A world known organization that can take on any country head on even at war. Without ever being on the defensive side. He was a being not to be truffled with.
"Now listen"
Nathan's father continued.With a sigh
"Look there's more to what we know or see at the moment, there's more to the universe than it seems. I've been keeping you in the dark. An estimate of a month from now everything will change here. you might as well say the world as we know it might, no, is
Coming to an end, It's the new Rise of a different Era, one that the destiny has little to no power over the lives of creatures including as humans"
Nathan's pupils shook with such ferocity that the fear and anxiousness was evident in his eyes. A world he knew so well, where his memories of bliss and hardship. All and everything he knew would come crumbling down on him, all his achievements were in vein his plans, future job were all for naught.
Almost immediately, he barraged his father with loads of questions even he would wish he didn't ask after hearing the answers his father gave him.
"W-Wh-a-t, what did you say?!!, The end of the world!!?, W-W-Why!! Why!! Didn't you tell me? No the whole family huh?!!, What are we supposed to do now!!? This must be some sort of sick joke!!, I can't lose everything!! I have worked so far for!!. The begging of a new Era??!, What's that supposed to mean??!! I won't accept this. WHY, Why didn't you tell us??!"
And as he neared the end of his questions, tears were streaming down his face like river, his eyes were blood shot from tears, yet he did not utter a single word after falling down on his knees, staring at one direction, his father's eyes, even during his silence, his eyes uttered everything, his father knew what the look in his yes meant, he opened his mouth to talk yet he closed it again. He repeated the same actions again as though he was looking for the right words to utter at the current state his son was in.
"Nathan, (sighs) I know you are in a serious state of shock and betrayal but (sighs) trust me, I know this is hard for you but I need you to stay strong phsycologicaly for your well being, your family isn't what it seems to be, I hate to break it to you but I'm not who you think I am. I need you to survive whatever concerning what is to come, at all cost."
Nathan seemed as though he has blocked every connection from this world yet he heard his father clearly. The shock was too overbearing for him to the extent that he was currently grasping the little consciousness he had or he would pass out at any time.
"Nathan, you need to be strong for you and everything you care about, trust me. I love you as much as you love me but please do everything to support your own well being as well as your brother Ethan, please I might not be alive by then so listen to me carefully, okay?"
There still wasn't any answer from the shocked Nathan.
"This book will help you in ways even I cannot decipher at the current moment.
Your life rests in this book. Keep it safely until I return if and only if I am alive by then, whatever it may be , you can dominate your way out if everything, I know you will make me proud to call you my son, your path is a very treacherous path I have ever seen across of my entire life time due to certain selfish acts of mine so please forgive me but I leave you with my most priceless possession"
Nathan stared at the book with his eyes that look like they have lost all the meaning of life.
For minutes he stared and stared at the book till he felt a stinging pain in his eyes for keeping them so open without blinking even once.
