Chapter 28 - Chapter 28: Sibling Love and Quirks

[Location: Eiyu, City Of Heroes]

[Time: Almost Dinner Time]

In the bustling City of Heroes, there stood the prominent territory of the Tatsuya Clan. At its heart resided a grand mansion, possibly the largest structure in the Clan's domain. The main hall of the mansion exuded a sense of opulence, adorned with splendid decorations. Neatly arranged chairs surrounded a central glass table, giving the hall an air of sophistication. Mounted on the wall, a large smart TV powered by magic displayed a current television program.

The scene inside the mansion was peaceful as a show played on the TV, engaging its viewers from all walks of life.

Monkey D. Luffy: "I'm gonna be the Pirate King!"

Xevonia gazed at the enigmatic figure shown on the tv, a man with an unwavering resolve to ascend to the position of the pirate king. Her eyes shimmered with an alluring anticipation, eagerly awaiting the moment he would claim the coveted title.

Beside Xenovia sat another girl, bearing an uncanny resemblance to her, but with long, uncolored hair. Unlike Xenovia, she wore a fatigued expression while engrossed in the TV show they were watching together.

"Where is my brother, Xen?" she inquired without diverting her gaze.

"I don't know, Xandria" Xenovia replied, annoyance creeping into her voice. "And just a reminder, he's my brother too, so don't act like he's exclusively yours."

Her retort carried a subtle threat, her eyes seeming to emanate potent energy.

With the hall completely deserted, the sisters' conversation remained unheard by others. But had there been observers, they would have witnessed an intriguing exchange fraught with sibling rivalry and an underlying display of formidable strength.

As her sister's threatening tone filled the air, a mischievous grin graced Xandria's face.

"You know, you just proved you're a Tsundere, don't you?" Xandria teased playfully.

"I'm not!" Xenovia retorted, her cheeks flushing crimson.

Ignoring her sister's denial, Xandria continued to smile. "Then, tell me where 'our' brother is?"

"He went to hunt some beast because he was feeling bored," Xenovia replied with a sigh.

Nonsensically proud, Xandria puffed her non-existent chest. "Of course, he got bored because I wasn't here with him."

Rolling her eyes, Xenovia couldn't believe her sister's arrogance. "How arrogant! Even if you were here, he would still have gone to hunt the beast."

Their banter and sibling dynamics filled the room, with no one else around to witness the playful and spirited exchange between the two sisters.

Ding Dong!

The sound of the doorbell echoed through the Mansion, announcing the arrival of a guest or visitor.

"That must be our brother," Xandria remarked, getting up to answer the door, and surprisingly, Xenovia followed suit.

As they swung open the door, their faces lit up with happiness, but a wave of surprise quickly washed over them.

"X-Xandria, you are he-" Their brother's voice trailed off as he collapsed at their feet, unconscious.

Stunned by the sudden turn of events, the two sisters exchanged glances, trying to comprehend what had just happened. Without delay, they hurried to lift him from the ground, but he proved too heavy for them.

Xandria waved her hand, and a faint magic circle glowed weakly. Slowly, Sam's body began to levitate and floated toward their room, gently settling him onto their bed.

Xenovia gently caressed her brother's chin, while Xandria resisted the urge to playfully tease her sister, noticing the concern etched on Xenovia's face.

Carefully, Xandria softly lifted her brother's eyelids, searching for any signs of distress, while Xenovia thoroughly examined his body and head for possible injuries. Their grandmother, Jenna, a physician, had imparted some first aid knowledge to them, although she wasn't exactly gentle in her teaching methods.

"It seems he's just exhausted," Xandria mused, her eyes narrowing as she observed her brother. "But why does he look different from when he left for Eiyu? And he's grown taller too."

Xenovia, though unable to provide a definite explanation herself, wasn't as surprised as Xandria. She suspected it might be connected to their brother's peculiar ability.

"He certainly looks much more handsome than before," Xenovia muttered under her breath, but to her surprise, Xandria managed to overhear her remark.

Refusing to burden their parents or grandparents with yet another incident, they chose not to make the call this time. Taking care of their brother after he returned home injured and exhausted was not an uncommon occurrence. In fact, there had been occasions when they even had to help him change his clothes.

In the calmness of the room, the sisters cared for their unconscious brother, their minds racing with questions and a shared sense of responsibility for his well-being.

[After some time]

As the time to sleep approached, Xenovia found herself standing before the bed, lost in thought. "Seriously?" she muttered, her cheeks flushing with a hint of embarrassment.

Walking past her, Xandria climbed into the bed, where her brother lay unconscious. Only two pillows adorned the bed, and with one already taken, she gently extended her brother's arm, using it as a makeshift pillow. Xandria acted as if this were the most natural thing in the world.

But Xenovia couldn't believe her sister's audacity. It wasn't the first time she had seen Xandria do this, but still, it struck her as rather bold.

It wasn't that Xenovia didn't want to sleep alongside her brother, but she felt self-conscious about doing it in front of Xandria. Despite her inner conflict, she eventually gathered the courage to settle down quietly beside her brother, seeking the comfort of his presence as they all drifted off into slumber.

...

In the early morning, a peaceful silence enveloped Sam and his two sisters as they slept soundly. The room was filled only with the gentle rhythm of their breathing, three triplets intertwined in rest.

CREEK!

The bedroom door creaked open, revealing a mature lady with white hair and striking blue eyes. She looked at her three children and let out a sigh, her heart filled with both love and concern. "What am I going to do with the three of you?" she softly murmured.

This wasn't the first time she had found Sam sleeping beside one of his sisters, but it was the first time she caught him sleeping between both of them. Her gaze fixed on her son, questioning herself, "What has happened to my boy?"

As a mother, she couldn't help but notice the changes in her son's appearance. However, not wanting to disturb their peaceful slumber, she decided to leave the room, gently closing the door behind her. Concerned thoughts filled her mind, but she knew she would find the right moment to talk to Sam and understand what was going on with him.
