"Do you want to spend the night?" She had asked. Did I? Yes. But it felt like it was something people did when they were taking the next step. Alexis and I were not even in a relationship but most times that's exactly what it felt like.
She looked at me as she waited for me to answer until her face scrunched up. "Oh God. Nevermind. Don't answer that." She said, flinging the blanket off of her lap and standing up. "No, Alexis..." I started. "No it's fine. I shouldn't have asked that. I just wanted you to know that your options were open." She explained.
"I would love to spend the night." I told her, deciding that the look on her face made my stomach turn in a very unpleasant manner. "Really?" She asked, cracking a hopeful smile and I nodded. She finally reclaimed her seat next to me and faced me.
