The vexed. They all came in different shapes and sizes, however, these had skeletal forms shrouded in tattered grey flesh. Red flames flickered in their hollow eye sockets, reflecting the malevolence that consumed them.
The vexed approached, their movements jerky and disjointed. Despite their weakened state, their menacing presence sent a chill down Kai and Luna's spines. Or anyone's spine.
Kai's hands were already burning with his intense flames. He decided to fight without holding back because he didn't know how strong they were.
Luna on the other hand was not able to use her powers because she was not in her element. Instead she brought out a dagger. It was made of a blue metal which made the dagger look like it was forged from the ocean itself. The handled was made of a black rock that looked similar to obsidian. It was rough to allow a firm grip.
The vexed lunged forward with their claw-like bony arms. Kai punched one of the vexed with his arms wrapped in flames. The force was enough to completely obliterate the vexed's head. It's body dropped to the ground.
Luna sliced off the arm of one of the vexed before proceeding to beheaded it. When she moved the dagger, a blue mist followed the blade. She then turned to another and threw a blade of water from the dagger which destroyed a few more vexed.
Unfortunately, the vexed kept getting back up. What's worse was that they kept coming, increasing in numbers with every passing second. Kai and Luna were already running low on stamina. They didn't know how much more of this non stop fighting they could take. It was really taking a toll on them.
Amidst the chaos of the battle, Takeshi's meditation reached its peak. Opening his eyes, he sensed a surge of spiritual energy emanating from a specific direction. With newfound clarity, he rose to his feet and joined the fray, his sword gleaming with determination.
He was hacking the vexed to pieces with his wind blades and this time, they weren't getting back up. With Takeshi joining the fight, the vexed were already decreasing in numbers. Eventually they were able to defeat the vexed, with the remaining few fleeing.
With the immediate threat subsided, they turned their attention to Takeshi, curious to hear what he had discovered during his meditation. Takeshi, his eyes shining with newfound insight, shared the faint whispers he had heard, guiding them towards the sacred grove where ancient spirits resided.
The spirits we seek are near," Takeshi declared, his voice steady and resolute.
Armed with this knowledge, they steeled themselves for the next leg of their journey, determined to seek the blessings and guidance of the spirits. The realm may be treacherous, but their resolve remained unwavering.
