***Adam Kane POV***
"I was unconscious."
Silver finally looked interested again, raising an eyebrow before asking again.
"Unconscious? Were you ill or injured somehow?"
"Yes." Ajax said holding his hand up to his torso momentarily.
"I see, did you not have anyone to assist you in this time?"
"No." Ajax replied shaking his head.
"What about your parents or guardians?" Silver asked leaning forward.
"...." Ajax remained silent.
"Ajax, do you have any parents or guardians to look after you?"
"No."
Silver paused momentarily before leaning back in his chair, now he really looked frustrated, and I couldn't blame him. Not only were we wasting his time, we were also forcing him to force out information that he clearly didn't want to. Sighing he said,
"I can let you go now Ajax but if you wouldn't mind, could you answer one more question out of personal curiosity."
Ajax nodded, insinuating he was fine with answering Silver.
"Did you see anything out there? Whatever comes to mind, are there any buildings left standing? Did you find any heroes aside from Adam?"
Silver was reaching, he was desperate but in reality, we all were. However, Ajax replied in an apologetic tone for once.
"All buildings I could see except a strange cathedral and the violet fang were destroyed and all heroes except Adam were dead."
Silver looked disappointed but still curious as he asked "You found heroes except Adam?"
Ajax nodded and said "Corpses."
"Were there any recognizable features? A lot of families are looking for closure."
For the first time Ajax looked uncomfortable, his impassive face replaced by a light frown as he described them.
"One wore full body metallic armor with engravings of a lion."
Guilt began creeping in as I remembered a tank in full metal armor asking for a picture with me to show his son.
"Leo Arlan." Silver said depressingly.
"One wearing purple and grey mage robes with orange hair."
"Leah Oxton."
Ajax listed 4 more heroes like this, and Silver matched them to missing heroes, looking over at Corin she had a guilt-ridden expression on her face as she listened.
"Thank you, Mr. Ajax, you've been very helpful. Head to Corin's office, she should take care of this situation."
Ajax got up and followed the guide out and Silver looked at the camera before saying,
"I'm guessing you already know, but the child is harmless." Then promptly turned it off.
*** Ajax POV ***
Walking out of the interrogation room, I was thankful that my excuse had worked. Before I had been brought here, I was wondering how I should describe my time in the void. At the end I decided to say I was unconscious, as any other explanation was too unbelievable and being in the void felt more like a nightmare then a state of consciousness, one I wish I could forget.
Either way, I was thankful that it went well, after talking to Corin I should probably make a plan as to how I should proceed from here on out. I wanted to change the story, that was obvious as even though I hadn't read the last few chapters the novel released, the world is bound to turn into a living hell. I was afraid of dying but living in a world like that wasn't great either.
I didn't think I could change the fate of this world alone but rather wanted to help the main character by eliminating a few villains while also getting enough personal strength to protect myself. Saving Adam was a lucky encounter I doubt I could recreate but I was happy, if I wasn't able to change much else at least I could give the main cast a valuable ally.
Approaching the familiar tent, I heard Adam's muffled voice yelling as I got close to the entrance.
"Who cares?! Ajax is an awakened and it's the damn academy's job to teach him how to use his powers!"
"I know, but the academy can't let him in, the admission exam ended a day ago and he isn't even registered as a civilian in any of the countries we are allied with."
Walking inside I saw a very frustrated looking Adam sitting opposite to Corin. The two looked in my direction as I walked in, and she requested me to sit down next to Adam before speaking.
"First of all, I'm sorry Ajax, you saved Adams life, and I repaid you by treating you like a criminal."
She continued, "However, there is another problem. We can't find any official records of your existence."
"Which means that the academy won't let you in." Adam finished in a disheartened tone.
I paused for a brief moment because I was a bit confused by what Adam had said before saying.
"That's it?"
Both of them looked very confused by my response as Adam asked.
"Uh.. What do you mean?"
"Won't the monarchy not let me in because I don't have identification?" I asked.
Adam began laughing as Corin awkwardly explained.
"Of course, they will! We wouldn't let you die because of such a reason. We have had similar cases with trafficking rings and abandoned children but it's our first time dealing with an awakened. The process will take a few days and will require some screening, but you will be let in, it's just that the academy is unwilling to accept any more students, especially one who is not yet confirmed to be a civilian of the allied countries."
"Yeah, I'm sorry kid, I couldn't change the minds of the stubborn idiots over at the academy." Adam said mockingly.
"It's alright, thank you for everything." I said to the two.
"You're welcome?" Corin said confused.
"Yeah kid, this is like the bare minimum, especially for an awakened who's not corrupted and also saved my life." Adam said.
"Oh, that reminds me Adam, wont your family be here soon?" Corin asked.
"Yeah, I called them up as soon as I could, Ma could hardly believe it, said they would be here as fast as they could." Adam spoke with a smile on his face.
"And how long ago was this?" Corin asked with concern.
"About 40 minutes ago why?"
"God damn it."
As if on cue the guide walked into the tent and said.
"Uh Ms. Corin the Kane family is outs-"
"Adam!" yelled an elder looking woman before running up to him and embracing him in a bear hug.
"Ma.. I can't breathe, please.." Adam said but his cries fell on deaf ears as the woman hugged him even tighter.
"Really, you punk you had us all worried." a deep voice spoke out from the tent entrance, and I saw Adam's father who shared his brilliant blonde hair and his sister who had inherited her mother's brown hair.
I began to get up to leave, while it was an odd experience to see a character from the novel in real life, I was not used to this kind of atmosphere and felt out of place. However, as I was walking out the door Adam said in his out of breath voice.
"Wait... Ajax."
Causing all the member of his family to look towards me.
