Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: kill stealing a boss

As Ares and Fatty ventured deeper into the forest, they stumbled upon a spectacle that caught their attention—a massive group of over 100 players engaged in an intense battle with a formidable field boss. The field boss, known as the Wild Ape King, stood at a gold level with a staggering 1 million HP. Despite the combined efforts of the players, the boss still had 40% of its health remaining, proving to be a formidable adversary.

The players around them were utilizing various skills and tactics, coordinating their attacks to chip away at the boss's health. The air crackled with energy as spells and sword strikes clashed with the Wild Ape King's powerful attacks. Ares and Fatty watched in awe as the players showcased their prowess, their determination to conquer the boss evident in their eyes.

Ares turned to Fatty; his eyes gleaming with excitement. "Hey, Fatty! Should we lend a hand and take down the Wild Ape King? The rewards must be insane, and it's the perfect chance to flex our muscles!"

Fatty shot back, "Help them? Those Dawn Breaker jerks? They've been on my tail, stealing my gear and sending me back to the respawn point four times! Let's be sneaky and swoop in when the boss is at a measly 2% health!"

They hunkered down and observed the battle unfolding before them. Despite the high-level players in the group, their lack of teamwork was evident. However, they managed to chip away a significant chunk of the boss's HP. When the boss's health dropped to 10%, it went berserk, unleashing flaming punches and fireballs that scorched half of the players.

Finally, when the boss's health hit a mere 2%, two mysterious players emerged out of thin air, wielding swords and shields. Fatty launched himself at the other players, while Ares focused on the boss. With a crackling sword charged with lightning, he unleashed a flurry of devastating attacks—slashes, crosscuts, and more.

Damage Points:

[-3000]

Critical Hit! [-6000]

[-500]

Then, he unleashed the AoE attack skill tied to his sword, Lightning Slash, dealing a massive 5000 damage. He attacks such that some players were in range of his Area of attack and killing some players. Finally, he unleashed his ultimate move, Heavenly Slash, summoning blinding light as a massive damage point floated above the boss's head.

Damage Points:

[-15000]

The boss's HP plummeted to zero, and an overwhelming surge of experience flooded Ares and Fatty, leveling them up. Ares reached level 17, while Fatty was on the cusp of reaching level 32. Sweeping up the loot without a second glance, Ares joined Fatty in attacking the remaining players.

Ares was unstoppable, his every skill capable of obliterating opponents. His attributes were off the charts, thanks to his Sword Aura, Sword Heart, and Sword Intent augmenting his skills. His sword alone boasted a staggering 5000 attack power, dwarfing the measly 2000 to 3000 defensive points and 1500 to 2000 HP points of regular players.

An assassin attempted to sneak-attack Ares, but his sword sense triggered, allowing him to effortlessly dodge the attack. He countered with a swift Cross Cut, leaving the assassin lifeless on the ground. Only the leader remained—a level 40 berserker from the Dawn Breaker guild.

The leader began to beg and threaten, boasting of his guild's reputation. "Do you even know who we are? I am the captain of the Dawn Breaker guild, a top-tier guild! Who do you think you are, attacking our members? I won't forget this!"

Fatty interjected, "Shut the heck up, or I'll strip you naked and make you run through the city!"

Ares, taken aback, asked, "Wait, can you actually do that in the game?"

Fatty replied, "Screw you, Ares! I was just trying to sound cool!"

Ares chuckled, "Oh, got it."

Fatty continued, "Hahaha! Look at you now, James from the Dawn Breaker guild! Remember how you hounded me for my gold-level items? Today, I'll avenge myself and wipe away that humiliation!"

Ares remained silent, merely observing the spectacle unfold. Fatty pummeled the leader, thoroughly enjoying the act of revenge, until he was satisfied and finally dealt the killing blow.

The dynamic duo swiftly gathered all the loot scattered across the battlefield. The defeated players, stained red from their ruthless kills, had dropped an abundance of valuable items. Ares and Fatty's eyes widened as they collected a whopping 200 gold coins from the fallen players. It seemed that their murderous spree had paid off handsomely.

Turning their attention to the boss's loot, they discovered a treasure trove of items. Among the spoils were a guild creation token, a rare find indeed. This token could be used to establish their own guild in the game—an opportunity to forge their path and build a community of like-minded adventurers.

Additionally, they uncovered two skill books, Counting the coins, they found a generous stash of 300 gold. The boss had clearly accumulated quite a fortune. Ares and Fatty grinned at their newfound wealth, already plotting how to spend it wisely.

As the Extension package Update was about to start, Ares and Fatty made their way back to the city to log out. Along the journey, Ares couldn't shake off the familiarity of the name Sejong. After racking his brain for a while, he suddenly remembered that the annoying guy in his class was also called Sejong. Ares silently cursed him, thinking it couldn't possibly be the same person causing all this chaos in the game.

Unable to contain his frustration, Ares turned to Fatty and complained about skipping school, which led to him having to deal with that irritating guy.
