It was the day of the exam. Izuku sat in a classroom, it seemed to be early that no other kids had arrived but him and Denki. This was due to they had to arrive with Aizawa and hizashi. Izuku was left to his own thoughts and kept thinking of what the commission had been doing. "hey let's just leave it, for now, we need to think of today's test" Denki poked him to try and get his worries to settle at least a bit. Izuku nodded and waited for the other participants of the exam. One by one they filed into the room after finishing their written exam. There were a few kids that caught Izuku's eye. One is a certain explosive blond he hasn't seen since he was 4. Izuku just looked at the stage on which Present Mic should appear soon.
Denki looked at his friend "hey zu you okay you seemed kinda shaken you alright?" izuku nodded and tried to distract his brain by talking with Denki for the time being. Soon when all the kids filed into the room the lights slowly began to dim and stage lights flashed on. Present mic walked to the middle of the stage and began "what's up UA candidates thanks for tuning me you-" izuku turned out Mic and put his head down. The kid next to Izuku had purple hair and seemed like he hadn't slept for weeks. The purple boy seemed to be stressed and possibly nervous about the exam. Izuku tried to calm the boy's nerves by saying " hey it's not going to be that bad try and breathe you'll be fine" the purple-haired boy seemed to nod and they started to just chat. Not long after some blue hair straight-laced looking kid shot up and pointed at the two and said something about 'not being fit for a hero for interrupting' izuku quickly stood up and said back "it's not like you have any room to talk we were quiet you are yelling big difference no one cared about us, but you blatantly interrupted present mics presentation. We aren't the issue" he gave a curt smile and sat back now at the frustrated and embarrassed straight-laced kid.
The sleep-deprived boy who izuku now known as shinsou seemed worried for izuku. Denki kinda just laughed and which caused others to start to laugh at what happened. "Settle down listeners well since that's over let's head out to your designated areas!" There were a few teachers from the school helping direct others to their testing areas for the physical.
Izuku was standing in front of a large set of doors waiting for the test to start. Someone touched his shoulder and he turned to see Shinso standing there "your wings seemed a bit poofy you okay?" he seemed worried "I'm fine just getting rea- " "HOW DARE YOU TRY TO SABOTAGE OTHER PARTICIPANTS'' the same person who yelled at them before trying to start again before he was whacked with izukus wing "shut up no one has done anything but you he's done nothing he is a friend maybe you should mind your busin-" another kid buds in "but he's a villain he has no friends." izuku looked over at the kid who said it, they had the same uniform on as Shinso. "Excuse me but I hate to break it to you I am and he's not a villain. He seems to be a good kid so why call him one?" the kid faltered for a second but then smirked. Shinso looked down as the kid spoke again "his quirk is brainwashing so, of course, he's a villain!" izuku gave a deadpanned look "okay so what if it's brainwashing his quirk doesn't make him a villain, no one's quirk makes them a villain nor a hero it's your actions." he glared at the kid as he stepped back and seeded to almost run away.
Not long after Present mic came out and opened the doors izuku immediately flew in with others shouting at him to stop when he heard Present mic say "what are you doing there are no countdowns in a battle go go GO!" Everyone else started to run in. It was a mock city area with robots everywhere. Izuku knew he would be fine though he worried that Shinso wouldn't. He was taking down the bots one by one by picking them up and dropping them. He was rushing through the battlefield taking out 8 one-pointers, 7 two-pointers, and lastly 6 three-pointers. Izuku ran into Shinso again and there was only an hour left. The insomniac seemed out of breath and worried trying to find out how to take down some bots.
Izuku flew next to him "use your quirk on me" Shinso looked at Izuku in confusion "use your quirk on me to have me destroy bots so you can get points!" the sleep-deprived boy finally caught on.
asked the bird boy a question. "What's your favorite color?"
"green but wh-" he responds
Shinso smiled and quickly said "do fly up and destroy some robots" and izuku almost seemed like clockwork as he was told. An hour passed and he managed to get 5 one-pointers, 6 two-pointers, and 7 three-pointers. Izuku was finally out of Shinso's grasp; he was trying to catch his breath. He was sprawled on the ground trying to cool off "you okay? You did get pushed far I'm sorry" the insomniac tried to apologize.
"Na I'm good just need to breathe for a second but you should be good" izuku huffed out.
"10 MORE MINUTES LEFT REMAINING OF THE EXAM" Present Mic said over the intercom.
"Welp, what should we do now," Shinso asked the boy sprawled out on the ground.
"We should probably go and see if other kids are okay until the exam is over"
Shinso nodded and helped Izuku up "are you really okay?" he nodded and they both went to go check on the other kids. They helped a few kids. And a few seemed to reject any help from Shinso entirely. Izuku just skipped over those kids who rejected his friend. They managed to help as many kids as they could by the time Present mic came back on the intercom
"5 MINUTES LEFT UNTIL THE EXAM ENDS"
Izuku could feel footsteps? The ground was shaking and soon after the view of a robot the size of the tallest building was slowly making its way to everyone. The other participants began to quickly run away. Izuku was about to fly away as well but then he heard the scream of a girl. He looked back and saw someone trapped under some rubble. Izuku clicked his tongue and darted to the one trapped under a part of a building.
He quickly tried to pick up the debris but it wasn't budging so he did the next best thing he could do. He flew up and tried to see if like the other robots if there was a kill switch. He looked around the entire gigantic thing and somehow managed to find the smallest button near the back of the neck and quickly managed to press it. It started to fall back the way izuku was. He quickly tried to move out of the way but the bot hit the back of his leg dragging him down fast and the ground was quickly approaching.
He couldn't manage to get enough strength quick enough to fly back up with his leg caught in the bot. The next thing Izuku knew he was free and being tackled mid-air by someone to break his fall. They rolled and tumbled for a good few feet before finally coming to a stop. They were both busted and bruised. They both got up and one of izuku's wings seems to be sprained. He went to go and assess the damage and hissed in pain when he touched his wing.
"Well that hurts like a bitch"
"Oh, my kami, are you okay?! I tried to get to you in time but I failed. I'm sorry!!" Shinso seemed to be apologetic for saving him
"What do you mean I'm only hurt because we tumbled like someone threw a rock?" he laughed at the boy's stress of thinking he hurt him "I'm fine really you saved me! Really" he tried to reassure the boy.
"AND THAT'S THE EXAM THE ONES ABLE ENOUGH TO MAKE YOUR WAY BACK TO THE GATE AND IF YOU ARE NOT JUST STAY WHERE YOU ARE. SOMEONE IS COMING TO GET YOU"
"Welp I guess we should try and make it back huh?" Izuku tried to stand up but Shinso didn't let him and picked him up bridal style to take him to the gate. "You aren't walking in this state" izuku tried to object but the other just wouldn't listen.
"Also you don't have to worry about the girl I got her out and to safety. She has a sprained ankle but that's about it" he explained they were just about to get to the gate. There were a lot of kids near the gate, some needed a lot of help but others seemed unscathed from all the chaos of the exam.
Present mic was at the gate waiting for everyone and he saw izuku and rushed over trying to seem like he was just worried as a teacher. "Are you two okay so both seemed pretty banged up" izuku nodded and mic commented "here i'll take him you go see recovery girl. She's the old lady over there. I'm going to take him to the nurse's office because he possibly won't be able to be healed until he rests!" Shinso nodded and hesitantly went over to recovery girl.
"Next time you need to be careful," he said to izuku when Shinso was far enough.
"Yeah yeah but i didn't get injured while that someone probably would have suspected something I wanted to make sure that wouldn't happen, also I didn't plan for a fucking titan to appear and almost kill some kids! Not my fault!"
Present mic surrendered "sorry it was nezus' idea for them but let's head out" izuku nodded but they questioned, "wait but don't you have to stay with the applicants?" mic shook his head "no there is plenty of other staff waiting to address and watch the kids making sure nothing happens, but we need to make sure you are okay" izuku nodded.
On the way to the nurse's office, Aizawa was waiting for them. Seeming a bit worried over the winged boy but he didn't want to show it. "You're slow" is all Aizawa said and started the way to the nurse's office. This made mic laugh softly at his husband's antics. Izuku was just kinda confused.
When they got there Hizashi set izuku down on one of the medical cots and Aizawa spoke up "never put your life at risk like that again" the bird boy sighed and said "well sorry didn't realize the bot would fall my way! I tried to get out of the way. I couldn't really do anything with my leg being caught!" izuku was now getting frustrated over people telling him he shouldn't save people.
Aizawa patted his head "but good job I'm proud of you" izuku froze at the sign of affection and started to tear up. He never received any form of encouragement or affection from anyone other than his brother and Denki, since his mother. He softly nodded now knowing why they were acting how they were. They were worried for him for the well-being of him and didn't want him hurt.
Hizashi saw the boy crying and gently hugged him avoiding his hurt wing. Izuku seemed to latch on to HIzashi with tears falling. "Sorry, " mumbled the small boy. Within a few minutes, recovery girl walked in on the sight of the small family and smiled but she did wack Hizashi with her cane. "I need to see the patient." Aizawa laughed and Hizashi let go of izuku.
"Hello, dear, let me see your hand " he complimented her and she gently kissed the boy's hand making his body's recovery rate speed up for a bit. Izuku yawned as his wing seemed to get better and the bruises and scrapes seemed to disappear. It didn't take izuku long to fall asleep.
Aizawa picked up the winged boy "you keep an eye on him I feel like the deary will be a handful" she warned and then let them leave. Aizawa and HIzashi met up with Denki and they went home to rest.
