Klaus sat frozen on his chair, his eyes wide as saucers and his lips slightly agape. The color drained from his face as he struggled to form a coherent response, yet his voice failed him.
"I said I want to break up with you," Evangeline repeated, her tone firm and determined.
He wasn't sure that he heard her correctly at first. But now that he was sure that he did, his usually composed demeanor shattered entirely upon hearing Evangeline's words, leaving him unable to move in shock.
The In-Between shifted its form into Cafe Perry, the same cafe where the high school sweetheart first got together and also the same place where they will part ways.
"How befitting," Death commented, sounding amused at the irony of the location.
"It truly was," I nodded in agreement, my expression distant.
