Chapter 45 - The malevolent aura

"Xiaoyu, Mr. Li will be here soon. Oh, by the way, I didn't mention it earlier, but Mr. Li is the chairman of our company. Our entire development zone is a project of our company," the two brothers bantered for a while, and Zhang Hua informed Qin Yu.

"To be able to secure such a large development project in Guangzhou, Mr. Li must have quite a lot of influence."

"Mr. Li is indeed a talented individual. He is a prominent figure in the whole city of Guangzhou," Zhang Hua raised his thumb, displaying a proud expression.

"Ding!"

While Zhang Hua was describing the achievements of Mr. Li, a car horn sounded from outside the door. Zhang Hua's expression changed as he heard the horn and said, "It must be Mr. Li. Let me go and greet him."

"Let's go together, cousin. I also want to see what this influential person you mentioned looks like," Qin Yu suggested.

They stepped outside, and a luxurious, upscale Mercedes-Benz sedan was parked in front of Qin Yu. A middle-aged man in a smart suit with a square face stepped out of the car. As soon as he got out, his gaze fell on Qin Yu and Zhang Hua. His eyes lingered on Zhang Hua for less than a second before shifting to Qin Yu.

Li Weijun had sharp eyes that made people dare not meet his gaze. Previously, the pre-inheritance Qin Yu might have avoided this gaze, feeling unable to withstand its pressure. But now, he could ignore the pressure conveyed in that gaze and face it calmly.

"Mr. Li, this is my cousin, Qin Yu," Zhang Hua introduced Qin Yu to Li Weijun.

"Master Qin, hello. I apologize for the inconvenience of traveling all the way from Jiangxi. It's really my fault," Li Weijun didn't find Qin Yu's age surprising, as Zhang Hua had already mentioned that Qin Yu was his cousin. Being a cousin, he would naturally be younger than Zhang Hua.

"No need to be so polite, Mr. Li. This is my cousin's matter, so naturally, I can't refuse," Qin Yu reached out and shook hands with Li Weijun, who extended his hand. After a few gentle shakes, they let go.

"Master Qin has just arrived in Guangzhou, right? In that case, let's go to the Guoxing Grand Hotel to welcome you properly," Li Weijun suggested.

"No need to trouble yourself. Let's go to the construction site first," Qin Yu shook his head. Since they were already at the construction site, they should visit the building first.

"Well... alright then. Let's go and have a look," Li Weijun's gaze turned to Zhang Hua, who nodded in agreement, and that's how they agreed to Qin Yu's suggestion.

Accompanied by only one bodyguard, the four of them headed towards the building. However, before they had walked far, a little girl suddenly appeared from around the corner and accidentally bumped into Qin Yu.

"Oops!" The little girl let out a crisp cry of pain as she collided with Qin Yu and fell to the ground.

"Little sister, are you okay?" Qin Yu quickly reached out to help her up.

"Thank you, brother. I'm fine," the little girl didn't take Qin Yu's hand but instead used her hands to support herself and stood up on her own.

As the little girl stood up, Qin Yu got a clear view of her appearance. She had a fair complexion with two green glass threads tied around her braided hair. Her shining black eyes were curiously sizing up Qin Yu and his group, constantly darting around.

The little girl was very cute, but her clothes were a bit worn-out. The sleeves of her clothes were frayed, indicating that her living conditions might not be great. Qin Yu speculated that she might be the daughter of a nearby worker, playing on the construction site.

"This is Grandma Qin's granddaughter, Qiaoqiao. Looks like you're feeling better now," Zhang Hua, who was standing beside them, recognized the little girl and greeted her with a smile.

"Uncle Zhang Hua, Qiaoqiao is feeling much better," the little girl, clearly familiar with Zhang Hua, replied with an innocent and pure smile on her face.

"Grandma Qin?" Are there still elderly people at the construction site? Qin Yu was puzzled.

"Grandma Qin arrived here a few months ago. She is an orphaned elderly woman who supports herself and Qiaoqiao by scavenging for recyclables. When they first arrived, Qiaoqiao seemed to be ill, with a pale face. However, she has improved a lot in the past month and now looks just like a normal child."

"Cough... Qiaoqiao, let's go with Grandma."

A dark figure appeared from around the corner. It was an elderly woman dressed in a black robe, her entire face hidden under a hat, making it impossible to see her appearance clearly.

"Goodbye, big brother. Goodbye, Uncle Zhang Hua." Upon hearing the old woman's words, Qin Qiaoqiao greeted Qin Yu and walked over to her grandmother's side, supporting her as they headed towards the corner.

"This Grandma Qin is also quite strange. She always wears a black robe, concealing herself under the hat and never speaks to anyone."

"Yes, it's very peculiar. There's something unique about her presence," Qin Yu murmured softly, his gaze fixed on the spot where Grandma Qin's figure disappeared.

"What did you say, Xiaoyu?"

"No worries, let's continue walking."

The group walked past several buildings and circled around a circular water pool. Suddenly, Qin Yu halted his steps, pointing directly at a building ahead, furrowing his brows and saying, "This is the building where the incident happened, right?"

Qin Yu's words brightened the eyes of Li Weijun, who was standing next to him. It's important to note that there were three commercial buildings ahead, and Qin Yu pointed to the one in the middle, precisely the one where the incident occurred. Li Weijun looked at Zhang Hua, giving him a questioning look, wanting to ask if he had brought Qin Yu to this building or mentioned its location earlier.

Zhang Hua understood the meaning in Li Weijun's eyes and shook his head, indicating that he hadn't informed his cousin about the location of the building. Qin Yu had just arrived by train, and Zhang Hua hadn't mentioned the building's location to him, nor had he shown him the construction plans.

"Xiaoyu, how did you know that the middle building is the one where the incident happened?"

"The malevolent aura has already overflowed from the building. I can feel it even from here. How can I not be certain which building it is?"

Qin Yu's expression turned grave. Standing at this spot, a hundred meters away from the building, he could already sense the chilling malevolent aura emanating from within. It was unbelievable to have such a widespread malevolent aura in a big city.

"Master Qin, what should we do?" Li Weijun interjected, asking for advice.

"Do you have the design plans for this development area?" Qin Yu scanned the surroundings of the building but didn't sense anything unusual. From the nearby structures around this building, he didn't find any issues.

"I have the design plans in my office. I'll go get them." After hearing Qin Yu's words, Zhang Hua excused himself and hurried back to the office.

"Director Li, let's go and have a look first."

This building gave Qin Yu an eerie feeling, especially with the malevolent aura that carried a faint chilling force. If it weren't for the baptism of dragon energy that had heightened his senses, it would have been difficult for him to detect this suction force.

As they approached the building, Qin Yu felt the suction force growing stronger, forcing him to utilize his psychic power to resist it. However, when he glanced at Li Weijun and his driver, the two seemed completely unaware and unaffected.

"Could it be that this force only affects cultivators?" Qin Yu pondered silently. Otherwise, why didn't Li Weijun and the others feel anything, as if it were business as usual?

"Hmm, what's this situation?"

Once they entered through the front door of the building, a deep sense of shock appeared on Qin Yu's face. The malevolent aura had disappeared. Qin Yu took a step back outside the door, and indeed, the malevolent aura reappeared once again.

"It's really strange. Could it be that the cause of the malevolent aura is not the building itself, but it forms outside the building?" With this thought in mind, Qin Yu didn't enter the building but instead carefully searched around the entrance.

"Master Qin, why aren't we going in?" Li Weijun asked in confusion when he saw Qin Yu standing at the doorway without moving.

"There's a possibility that the malevolent aura is formed outside the building," Qin Yu shared his thoughts.

"But it's outside. And outside is just a flat land," Li Weijun couldn't comprehend. However, he wasn't an expert in the field of feng shui, and he wouldn't attempt to overstep his bounds. If Qin Yu believed that the malevolent aura might be formed outside, then they should search outside. Let the professionals handle the matter. His company had grown so large not only because of deep connections but also because he was skilled at delegating tasks to experts.

"Director Li, Xiaoyu, why are you standing at the entrance?" While Qin Yu was carefully scanning the empty land, Zhang Hua arrived with a roll of blueprints in his hand.

"Cousin, can you show me the design plans for this area?"

"Oh, this area. We planned to build a circular flower bed here. Look at these two stone pedestals, there's a water pipe laid underneath that connects directly to the center of the flower bed for watering the plants." Zhang Hua quickly found a design blueprint from a stack of papers and pointed to it while explaining.

To be honest, Qin Yu was a bit confused when looking at the design blueprint. After all, he wasn't involved in design work. If it weren't for Zhang Hua's guidance, he wouldn't have understood what all the intricately drawn lines and various colors represented on the blueprint.

After Zhang Hua's explanation, Qin Yu finally understood the design blueprint. It was precisely because he understood it that he became even more puzzled. Based on the design, there seemed to be no issues with the surrounding buildings, both in terms of layout and orientation. They even had the function of gathering Qi.

"Xiaoyu, have you discovered anything?" Zhang Hua couldn't help but ask when he saw Qin Yu furrowing his brows and contemplating for a long time.

"I haven't found anything yet."

"It's quite windy here. Could it be related to the wind? I remember you mentioned before that there are different types of winds, yin and yang winds," Zhang Hua reminded him.

"The wind here is not the problem. When we talk about attracting wealth from all directions, it refers to gathering wind from all sides. Malevolent winds harm people, but the formation of malevolent winds is related to the environment. Oh, right, the environment." Qin Yu suddenly remembered something, his eyes brightening as he turned to Zhang Hua. "Cousin, find the overall design plan for this development area. Actually, forget it. Let's go back and search for the map of the nearby area on the computer."
