Tick~Tock~Tick~Tock~Tick…
The tickling sound of the wall clock was all I could hear in this silent luxurious room, where I was sitting all alone.
Oh, my heart is also beating so fast that I think I am also hearing its beating sound.
After that silver-haired little girl calmed down, the man with silver hair carried her off somewhere after ordering a man to lead me into this room.
The black-haired teenage boy also followed the silver-haired man and the other blue-haired boy was led in the opposite direction.
I fidget with my nails as I gulp hard in fear.
Will they kill me?
Should I escape now?
But this place is heavily guarded and something is telling me that silver-haired man is really powerful.
My sister said that I had dark magic and that people born with this power were all wiped out long ago.
Almost no one with this kind of powers is alive now and I might be probably the only person with this kind of powers.
Above that, I am a commoner with no backing.
If someone knows about my powers then they will surely try to take advantage of it or at worst, I might get killed.
No one will save or help me if I ever face that kind of situation.
The first time I discovered my powers truly was when I was Eight years old, a few months later of my arrival in the orphanage.
Because that day I couldn't ignore the fact that it was truly my powers.
Flashback~
The Eight-year-old Liana was feeling exhausted as she just washed all the bed sheets of the orphanage as punishment.
And what was her mistake?
She missed her breakfast in the morning as she was feeling sick and then she just took a bread from the kitchen afterwards, which was caught by the headmistress.
So as a punishment, she had to wash all the bed sheets.
Thankfully a kind older sister gave her a piece of bread which helped her to continue working.
Liana stared at her pale hands and sighed.
Wouldn't it be better if she just continued to sleep in that slum house of hers in the village?
At least everyone loved her there and she earned her meals by helping everyone.
But they were right too.
She is a girl with a beautiful face and unique light blonde hair.
Maybe it would be fine now but when she starts to grow up, many people will try to take advantage of her because of her living alone.
Without a proper guardian, it's not safe for her to stay like that.
Thus, Liana had agreed with the village people when they recommended her to stay at the orphanage as this place is protected at least.
No one can get in and harm her…
And right then a painful crying sound reached her ears and she looked around to find the source of the sound.
But she couldn't find the source and a frown appeared on her face as she was sure that she had heard a sound.
'Maybe my fever is getting high again.'
'I should probably go back before fainting in the halls.'
Just as Liana was about to go away, this time she heard a loud thud, and without thinking much, she ran towards the direction of the sound.
She took slow steps towards the storeroom as this place was empty and the village women had told her many times to stay away from places like this.
Her heart was beating violently as she didn't know what to do.
Her feet wanted to turn around and ignore her curiosity but her heart then suddenly yelled at her that someone might need her help and if she didn't she might regret it afterwards.
And even before she could process, her hands had already pushed open the door and the scene before her made her shocked.
"GET AWAY FROM HER, YOU BASTARD!"
A girl who seemed a few years older than her was struggling beneath a teenage boy, who was supposedly the errand boy of the orphanage.
And she was the one who helped her this morning.
He was forcing himself upon the girl, and her dress was almost torn in between the struggle to escape.
Taking advantage of the boy's shock, Liana ran towards the girl as she pushed the boy away from her.
"H-He t-tried t-to…"
The girl sobbed as Liana pulled her away from the boy and the girl hugged her tightly in fear.
Unlike Liana, who was taught by the village woman about this kind of situation, the girl before her knew nothing about this kind of thing.
Thus she was easily fooled by the boy when he said that he needed a little help to get something from the storeroom and she happily agreed to help him.
But then the boy suddenly pinned her down on the ground as he started to touch her inappropriately and she yelled for help.
It was late at night and everyone already returned to their rooms, thus no one could hear her and when she had lost all her hope; this little girl came to save her like an angel.
"Sush… It's okay… You are fine now, sister."
And that girl was no one else but Jena.
Liana patted her back as she tried to console her and thought about how she was sent here because this was supposed to be a safe place.
'This place is safe from outsiders but what about the people inside?'
She thought as she helped Jena to stand up and escape but then Jena suddenly paused on her steps and looked back.
"W-Wait… why is he… not m-moving?"
And only then, Liana noticed that the boy wasn't moving just standing like he was in a daze.
"I d-don't know sister… I just told him to get away from you… I didn't even hit him…"
Liana spoke with a confused voice as she stared at the boy but then Jena thought that it wasn't safe for them and hurriedly escaped with Liana from the store room.
But in the morning, both of them were shocked to know that the boy wasn't responding anymore and seemed to possess some spirits as he was just staring straight blankly.
This made Liana afraid and Jena finally concluded a theory after researching for a few days.
"Lennie… Y-You don't have dark powers, right?"
Jena asked in a careful tone and Liana shook her head.
"How can that be sister? I am a commoner forgot? I didn't even have a magical power awakening ceremony. I can't have magical powers."
Liana explained even though she had her suspicions.
Jena knew that Liana wasn't lying but the matters of that night seemed to hint at something else.
After that night they got closer than before and even started to call each other with similar nicknames.
"Lennie, call that dog over here to me."
"…"
Liana looked at Jena with disbelief as she became speechless.
"Are you serious, Jennie? How can a dog understand me let alone follow my words?"
She spoke but Jena was firm on her words.
She has to make sure that Liana doesn't have dark magical powers as she has once heard the story of the people in a dark land area.
All of the people there were born with terrifying dark powers and a war broke out after the news of them developing harmful drugs broke out.
The emperor exposed their deeds and the Lewis royal family started to suffer financially.
Then they sold off their country to the republic army and now the whole Dark Land is under the control of them.
But it was heard that the emperor had ordered Duke Raven to execute all the people of the Royal family members with dark powers in the prison.
as the poison that killed his majesty's mother was invented by them.
Thus including the first royal princess and King Lewis who fled after selling his nation, everyone is dead or fled to save their lives.
This is what Jena got to know while working at the mercenary but she left that place later as she couldn't bear to do the dirty work like fighting.
Seeing Jena's firm eyes, Liana couldn't refuse her as a part of her was telling her what she said could be true.
Till now, she has faced countless similar situations.
When a customer in the pharmacy where she used to work would argue with the price, suddenly they would pay the amount she needed.
Once she stared at a cake in the bakery shop, wanting to eat it but she had no money to buy it.
But then suddenly the chef would come out and offer her the cake.
This is why Liana couldn't deny Jena's suspicion and her caramel brown eyes moved towards the dog in the garden as she parted her lips hesitantly.
"C-Come here to my s-sister Jennie, puppy…"
Liana spoke as she focused her mind on the puppy and sighed in relief as the dog didn't move.
But then the dog suddenly turned around as it slowly walked towards them and stood right before Jena while waggling its tail.
Leaving both Jena and Liana horrified…
She had Dark Powers!
