Eleanora thought as she gazed into the mirror, her face set in a cold expression that had long been forgotten by the duchy's old maids and was completely unknown to the new ones.
For the last few years, she had been the epitome of a bubbly, carefree, and energetic young lady, making this sudden change to a frosty demeanor all the more weird for them.
Eleanora was acutely aware of their discomfort.
Her deep navy blue off-the-shoulder dress was lavishly adorned with jewels, and a simple diamond necklace graced her neck. Yet, her gaze often fell to her throat.
She was convinced that she had been executed, her neck severed.
She vividly remembers the sharp pain spread on her neck as she embraced the darkness and everything is blank after that on her head.
Then why is she here?
