Chapter 763 - CHAPTER 766: Devastation In Hushveil City

Han Shuo and Rose were heavily surrounded and under siege. If they did not do something radical and break out of the encirclement soon, their situation would become even worse when other divine guards and their chiefs reached them. Therefore, Han Shuo knew he had no choice but to use all the cards he had up his sleeve.

Ever since he arrived on Elysium, Han Shuo had been constantly filling the Cauldron of the Myriad Demon with divine souls. After several decades, he had accumulated around six hundred souls in the Cauldron. On a normal day, Han Shuo would only use a small fraction of the demon generals he needed to probe for information. Never before had he released all the demon generals in the Cauldron to attack.

The Cauldron Spirit and Han Shuo had connected their minds, and it also knew how critical the situation was. The moment Han Shuo gave it the command, it began to release the demon generals. Rose, who was fighting beside Han Shuo, suddenly felt countless life forms bursting from Han Shuo's body. However, the divine guards who launched ranged attacks at the two were unable to detect the demon generals as they were in immaterial form.

In a split second, hundreds upon hundreds of almost invisible immaterial life forms spread out in all directions and positioned themselves among the divine guards attacking Han Shuo and Rose. Once they were in position, the Cauldron Spirit commanded the demon generals to attack. In an instant, greyish shadows appeared and pounced on the divine guards without warning.

Some of the demon generals that had been used for reconnaissance also transformed into material form and joined the attack. Hundreds of malevolent and terrifying creatures rushed at them. They hissed and howled as they tore and clawed at the divine guards.

The more than two hundred divine guards surrounding Han Shuo and Rose all screamed loudly in fear. Many of their bodies had been penetrated by the demon generals and their divine energy was being rapidly drained. Their divine souls were being corroded away and their consciousness was being erased bit by bit.

Demon generals in material form could cause tremendous damage to divine bodies and divine souls. The divine guards could not escape the attacks of the demon generals, and their power slowly diminished. Once their divine energy and life force were sucked away by the Demon Generals, their divine souls would lose their self-consciousness and become excellent material for feeding the Cauldron of the Myriad Demon and creating new Demon Generals.

Greyish shadows swirled and streaked all around. Many of the divine guards screamed in agony as their life force was rapidly drained. Many lay still on the ground with their eyes rolled back, though there was no sign of injury on their bodies. But as their comrades approached to examine them, they discovered that these divine guards had lost their lives.

The scene was chaotic. Some six hundred demon generals were charging in every direction, attacking anything with a soul. There were more demon generals than divine guards. The demon generals would fly in groups of ten and attack a divine guard as a group. After entering a person's body, the demon generals could nibble away the person's life force in a short time.

"What is this! What on earth is this?! Ah! Locke is dead!"

"What the hell are these damn things? How can they be invulnerable to attacks from divine weapons? Ahh! Ahh! They are inside me!"

"It doesn't die, it can't be killed!"

"Is the city being invaded? We should retreat..."

"Shit, I'm dying..."

The Divine Guards of Hushveil City were losing their heads. They had never seen such a strange creature as the Demon General. Normal physical attacks were no threat to Demon Generals. Until they found the right way to attack the demon generals, the divine guards were unable to counterattack, leaving them vulnerable. In a matter of moments, several dozen divine guards had lost their lives to the demon generals.

The Cauldron Spirit floated gently about in his immaterial form, collecting the divine souls of those who had died and ordering the Demon Generals to attack the weakest Divine Guardians in swarms.

All the while, the Chief of the Second Corps shouted loudly, urging his divine guards to form an effective defence. However, with everyone in a panic and the demon generals making loud, goosebump-inducing whistles, not many could hear him.

The Cauldron Spirit knew that the Chief of the Second Corps had excellent strength, so he ordered the demon generals to avoid him and concentrate on attacking the weaker divine guards instead. The demon generals that had been refined from Highgod souls were particularly deadly, and even deadlier in a swarm. These highest level demon generals could consume the vitality of an average divine guard in a fraction of a second.

With each passing moment, a few of the divine guards would perish. Under such circumstances, none of them would have the energy to deal with Han Shuo and Rose. Han Shuo and Rose did not miss the opportunity to strike them while they were weakened. The seventeen flying swords whistled over a dense crowd of divine guards and dismembered them. Their heads and limbs were sent flying as blood splattered everywhere.

While Han Shuo calmly manoeuvred his seventeen flying swords to commit a massacre, he did not forget to station some of his demon generals far away to watch for any approaching enemies. He killed as many divine guards as he could with Rose, so that Cauldron Spirit would have more demon generals to play with in his Cauldron.

Rose, who was mercilessly slaughtering the divine guards behind Han Shuo, seemed excited for some reason. Perhaps the sudden appearance of a chance of survival, when she thought all hope was lost, had lifted her spirit to fight.

Within a few minutes, Han Shuo and Rose managed to kill more than a hundred divine guards that had previously surrounded them. The shouts of the Second Corps Chief were completely ineffective. He watched helplessly as more and more of his divine guards lost their lives.

The divine guards screamed in fear and panicked. The more they panicked, the more vulnerable they became. The cries of their dying comrades and the sight of their dead teammates only made matters worse.

The Chief of the Second Corps, who had been shouting in vain, suddenly discovered that Han Shuo and Rose were charging murderously towards him.

With the seventeen flying swords paving the way, all the divine guards between them were shredded. Han Shuo moved with several dozen demon generals like a dark, menacing cloud in his wake. It greatly intimidated the head of the Second Corps.

Rose's silver hair danced wildly. Filled with dark divine energy, her long hair was cold and sharp like needles. Her long hair would pierce through the bodies of the divine guards around her, killing them in an instant.

The Chief of the Second Corps wore a dark face as he watched Han Shuo and Rose approach him. He racked his brain for a solution. About ten seconds later, he gave up on the idea of fighting the duo alone and retreated.

"Physical attacks are useless. Attack with fire. They fear cold and heat. They are also afraid of distorted divine energy!" suddenly shouted a divine guard who had stumbled upon the demon generals' weaknesses.

The spirits of all the divine guards who had been helpless against the demon generals were lifted. They followed the divine guard's instructions to attack the demon generals. Immediately, the demon generals retreated in fear. Some of the demon generals that were burned by the flames even made devilish squeals as if they were injured.

The divine guards were no longer paralysed. They adjusted their approach to attacking the demon generals. The death rate dropped drastically as the Divine Guards discovered the right way to attack the Demon Generals. The Divine Guards learned to force the Demon Generals out of their bodies by setting themselves on fire. The demon generals would have fled before the fire could harm their divine bodies.

When Han Shuo saw that the divine guards had discovered the weaknesses of the demon generals and could see through his demon generals in the distance that more divine guards were approaching the area, Han Shuo let out a cold groan and said to Rose, "Move!

Han Shuo continued to fly away. Rose did not hesitate and immediately followed Han Shuo.

Several hundred demon generals gathered together and covered the seventeen flying swords like a large dark cloud. They were paving the way for Han Shuo and Rose. Several divine guards in their path were crushed by the demon generals and shredded by the flying swords, allowing the duo to move freely.

Every living thing has its weaknesses, and the Demon Generals were no exception. Even though the Demon Generals were afraid of fire and extreme cold, they could still crush a human in an instant as a swarm. This was similar to man-eating ants. Anyone could easily crush a single ant to death. Alone, it was not a threat. But against a swarm of millions of ants, you have to get out of the way or you will be reduced to a skeleton.

None of the divine guards in Han Shuo and Rose's path stood a chance against the cloud of several hundred demon generals and the seventeen flying swords concealed within it. They had as much resistance in stopping Han Shuo and Rose as dried leaves had in stopping a bullet.

Utilising the visions of several dozen invisible demon generals, Han Shuo led Rose in a charge towards the weaker wings of the soon to be formed encirclement and managed to massacre their way out. They immediately travelled towards the nearest city gate.

Han Shuo knew how wild and outrageous his actions had been. He believed that if he didn't leave the city that very night, all the well-known patriarchs of all the major family clans, and perhaps even the City Lord of Hushveil City himself, would personally join the hunt. Han Shuo did not feel that he could take on the entire city alone. Therefore, he concluded that he must escape Hushveil City before they were activated.

Just outside the gate of Hushveil City was a huge mountain range. Han Shuo was confident that once they reached this area, even if every expert in Hushveil City hunted him down, he would be able to leave the areas under Hushveil City's influence with ease.

After storming out of the region where the Godswamp Pharmacy was located, Han Shuo and Rose continued to rush towards the city gate at full speed, showing no intention of hiding their tracks. They intended to force their way out.

It was at this moment that the City Lord of Hushveil City, Hofs, received the news that Han Shuo and Rose were wreaking havoc in his city.

If the last time Hofs had been angry, this time Hofs had gone completely mad!

"Inform the patriarchs of all family clans to activate their family clan's divine guards. Whichever family clan manages to slaughter the two will inherit Eugene's position!" Hofs must have really gone mad. His family clan controlled three Divine Guard Chiefs. If another clan had two chiefs, they could potentially threaten his clan's position. Hofs had given the order even though he was aware of this possibility.

"Patriarch, you should reconsider this!" an elder of the Hofley family immediately voiced his disagreement.

"Shut up and pass on my order immediately!" roared Hofs angrily and left the Hofley residence. He led the most elite divine guards of the House of Hofley in rushing towards the city gate. He had received information from his Divine Guard Chiefs and knew where Han Shuo and Rose were headed.

Like Wallace, Hofs was a Late-stage Highgod of Darkness. For many years, Hofs had not been in the field personally. But this time, Hofs had become supercritical, and he was determined to cut Han Shuo and Rose into a million pieces.

Of the seven major cities in the Darkness Dominion, Hushveil City was at the bottom of the list, but no one had ever dared to piss on his head like Han Shuo and Rose. It made Hofs seethe with rage that the two had massacred in his territory, but none of his Divine Guard Chiefs had managed to kill them yet.

Hushveil City was weak compared to the other six major cities. And now, thanks to Han Shuo and Rose's rounds of massacres, the city's strength would be reduced even further. If Hushveil City allows Han Shuo and Rose to escape on top of all the losses it has suffered, the city will never be able to turn the situation around. Worst of all, the Overgod of Darkness might even deem him incompetent and execute him.

The Overgods of Death, Destruction, and Darkness are warlike and pugnacious. They demand nothing complicated of their servants - they must be faithful and, above all, powerful!

Wallace, Hofs and the others were able to become masters of the seven great cities of the Darkness Dominion because they and their family clans possessed extraordinary powers. If they could not prove themselves useful to the Darkness Overlord and maintain that image, they would probably be abandoned by the Overlord!

As Hofs left the Hofley residence with his most elite divine guards, the patriarchs of other family clans in Hushveil City received the message from the House of Hofley. Their eyes sparkled with greed and excitement when they heard that they had been given the opportunity to fight for Eugene's vacant post. All they had to do was kill Han Shuo and Rose.

These patriarchs abandoned their original plans, whatever they might be, and summoned the most elite divine guards of their family clan. For the sake of their family clans for the next tens of thousands of years, they all personally joined the hunt.

In no time, a large number of large and small family clans in Hushveil City activated their forces.

The activation of the most elite troops of all the major family clans had intensified the unrest in Hushveil City. It had shocked the commoners. Some of them even thought that the forces of the Dominions of Life and Light had sent an army to invade the city.

Hushveil City was in chaos. Rumours spread like wildfire. Different stories were told as to why the forces had been activated. Some of the divine guards who knew the actual event exaggerate Han Shuo and Rose's strengths in their accounts, adding a veil of mysteriousness to the two.
