The two charge towards Avery's location like an unstoppable force. All of Avery's divine guards they encountered along the way were slaughtered by the two.
Miserable screams filled the vast underground chamber. All those divine guards died as Han Shuo's flying swords melted into nothing but watery blood. The bodies of the divine guards killed by Rose would also quickly melt when they came into contact with the bloody liquid.
They were in the Godswamp Pharmacy of Hushveil City. Han Shuo knew that they needed to accomplish their goal and escape from this place as soon as possible. Otherwise, if they took too long, the divine guards of Hushveil City would be at the scene and surround them in large numbers. Even with his and Rose's extraordinary strength, they might not be able to escape the encirclement.
Therefore, Han Shuo showed no mercy. The streams of gods turned into streams of blood. Han Shuo and Rose forced their way into the deepest part of the underground chamber.
While Han Shuo was on his killing spree, his demon generals had gone ahead to investigate. He had already found out exactly where Avery was. Therefore, Han Shuo didn't have to waste any more time looking for him. He arrived at the tightly sealed chamber where Avery was hiding.
The Godswamp Pharmacist called Power suddenly came running out of the room screaming. Two flying swords sliced through his neck like a beam of light. His head was severed from his body and sent spinning, all before his voice fell. The severed end of his neck was still spurting blood as his body collapsed with a thud.
Divine energy of darkness suddenly erupted from the space behind Force, and in an instant a dark domain of divinity took shape. The subterranean chamber, already dimly lit, was suddenly plunged into complete darkness. A shadowy figure began to move rapidly in the darkness. Its divine energy blew the bloody liquid on the ground and sprayed it towards Han Shuo and Rose.
Since Rose was cultivating in the energy of darkness and Han Shuo wasn't affected by changes in the environment in any way, nothing had escaped their visions, including the corrosive liquids splashing towards them. Han Shuo had a calm face and did not utter a word. The seventeen flying swords shot at the moving shadowy figure with lightning speed and ferocious power.
The flying swords made loud whistles that could pierce ears and souls, confusing the minds of everyone in the room. All of the flying swords arrived at the shadowy figure's side in an instant, surrounding him and giving him no chance to escape.
As the seventeen flying swords did their work, Han Shuo moved like a shadow, dodging the bloody liquid raining down on him. He shouted, "Today will be the last day of your life, Avery!"
As he finished these words, the Cauldron Spirit's energy flooded into his body. In an instant, a terrifying energy emanated from Han Shuo. The whistling noises grew even louder and piercing as the seventeen flying swords that trapped Avery formed Ceaseless Pain around him. A most ruthless, brutal and sinister aura was emanated.
Rose originally intended to assist Han Shuo in killing Avery but the instant that Han Shuo utilized Cauldron Spirit's energy, she was dumbfounded. The ferocious and fear-inducing aura given off by the seventeen flying swords caused her to be overwhelmed with shock.
So it turns out that he had not even used his full strength against me. I thought I could get my revenge after he nullifies the master-slave contract. Hahaha, laughable, how laughable of me, thought Rose.
Even though Rose was outside the Ceaseless Pain, she was nonetheless intimidated by the terrifying energy field produced by the sword formation. She stood foolishly behind Han Shuo, not having the courage to get close to the sword formation to help attack Avery. It was also at this moment that Rose completely gave up on making retribution against Han Shuo. She even felt a mixed feeling of dread and reverence towards him.
In fact, Rose knew Han Shuo better than most of the gods on Elysium. Back on the Profound Continent, Rose had sensed Han Shuo through her follower, Adele, and knew of his strength. She had never expected Han Shuo to develop such terrifying power in such a short time. The speed at which his strength increased was unimaginable to Rose.
Since Avery's strength was below Rose's, and Han Shuo had boosted his strength by borrowing the Cauldron Spirit's energy, Avery was on the back foot and couldn't even counterattack. The dark divine energy in his body was attacked by the chilling aura and corrosive power of the seventeen flying swords that trapped him in hell. Just a few seconds after the formation of Ceaseless Pain, his heart was filled with the feeling of despair.
Han Shuo suddenly flew towards Avery. With a cold face he said, "By the way, Carmelita did not kill your children. I did."
The glow of extreme hatred and rage burst from his eyes. He seemed unwilling to die this way. He gritted his teeth and tried to hurt Han Shuo with his death.
Unfortunately for Avery, Han Shuo would not give him the chance. The seventeen flying swords flew around his chest, draining every last bit of life from him. Before the poison completely liquefied Avery, the seventeen flying swords abruptly flew aside.
Han Shuo moved quickly to his body. He opened his left hand, unleashed the Demonic Blades, and sliced across Avery's neck. Since Han Shuo had used the cold aura, not a drop of blood left Avery's neck.
Han Shuo then quickly took out the glass jar he had long prepared, placed Avery's head inside it, and left a bit of frigid aura in the jar before sealing it. Meanwhile, the Cauldron Spirit flew out of Han Shuo's body to collect Avery's divine soul as quickly as possible.
Han Shuo looked around the bloody scene. Seeing that not a single soul was left alive, he promptly instructed, "Time to go."
Rose stared at Han Shuo foolishly. After hearing what was said, she replied quietly with an "O" and followed Han Shuo in silence. Amazement and fear could be seen in her bright eyes as she looked at Han Shuo's back.
The entire process of breaking into the secret chamber and murdering everyone inside took no more than two minutes. Those who had discovered the anomaly under the floor of Godswamp Pharmacy had not yet made it to the tunnel entrance.
Han Shuo and Rose rushed through the tunnel and travelled along the path they had come from. Soon they were back on the surface. It was then that they saw the divine guards of the God Swamp Pharmacy rush over.
Han Shuo and his demon generals had searched all around the Godswamp Pharmacy before and had found no sign of Hassling. Currently, there wasn't a single person in the entire Godswamp Pharmacy who could actually harm them.
All the divine guards that rushed at the duo were simply giving their lives. Han Shuo and Rose showed no mercy whatsoever. Several divine guards would die horribly in an instant. After killing a few more divine guards who were foolish enough to block their way, Han Shuo and Rose immediately flew away from Godswamp Pharmacy before the divine guards of Hushveil City could arrive and surround them.
The assassination was completed cleanly and without a hitch. Han Shuo and Rose easily escaped into the darkness of the night.
Two bloody murders had occurred in Hushveil City in less than 24 hours, and the crimes were committed by the same gang. This alarmed the experts of all the major family clans in Hushveil City, especially the Chief of the Sixth Corps, who went on a frenzied hunt for his son's murderers. He threatened to skin the murderers alive once he had found them.
***In the Hofley residence.
The House of Hofley was the most powerful family clan in Hushveil City. Hofs, the patriarch of the family clan, had a dark face and was in a fit of rage. The Divine Guard Chiefs of Hushveil City stood in front of him, silent and terrified.
"Bring me the murderers in three days, dead or alive!" Though the slender, tall Hofs might appear cultured and refined, all who knew him knew that he had a violent temper. This time, Hofs had reached a critical point. It had not been long since the death of one of his Divine Guard chiefs, Eugene, that such outrageous murders had occurred in his city. His anger was inflamed before it could subside. He was clearly at the limit of his tolerance.
The chiefs dared not speak, but the chief of the Sixth Corps, Salouhucci, replied loudly: "Be reassured, my lord. All the divine guards of my Sixth Corps have been activated and all the city gates have been instructed not to allow any white-haired woman to leave the city. The Godswamp Pharmacy murder took place after the city had been sealed off, so we can be sure that the murderers are still in Hushveil City. As long as we keep searching, we will eventually find the two murderers.
"I don't care what method you use. But in three days I want to see them, dead or alive!" shouted Hofs. "Where is Hassling?"
"My lord, Mr Hassling is in Firesand Town. A message has been delivered. Given the short distance between Firesand Town and the city, I believe Mister Hassling will arrive soon," said Lordaeron, the head of the First Corps.
Hofs suddenly slammed his table, smashing it to pieces. He shouted, "Why do they have to go to Godswamp Pharmacy to kill? The secret chamber was full of corpses, but there wasn't one with a whole body. Who are the murdered?"
Lordaeron's face grew stern. He replied, "We examined the scene of the crime, but we couldn't learn anything useful. We will have to wait for Hassling to tell us."
"City Lord, the master of the Godswamp Pharmacy requests permission to enter," the voice of a divine guard sounded from outside the room.
Everyone in the room was waiting for Hassling. Hof's eyes went cold and he shouted, "Let him in!"
Soon Hassling, whose hair looked old but whose face looked young, entered the room respectfully. As soon as he arrived, he bowed to Hofs and said in a mournful voice, "Please uphold justice for me, City Lord!"
Hofs wore an irritated expression. He groaned coldly, "Those who died in your secret chamber, who are they?"
"Avery and his divine guards, who were previously in the Fifth Corps of the City of Shadows. Avery contacted me after he had a falling-out with the House of Sainte, knowing that I had differences with the House of Sainte. He asked me to provide them with a place of refuge. Seeing how unreasonable the House of Sainte was, seeing that Avery was sincere, and having the thought of recruiting talent for Hushveil City, I agreed to help him and placed him in the secret chamber of my Godswamp Pharmacy. The House of Sainte is outrageously bold. Last time they killed Eugene. And now they are becoming even more unbridled, committing murder in Hushveil City. They are clearly challenging the sovereignty of our Hushveil City. My Lord, Hushveil City must no longer bow to them!" cried Hassling in tears.
Hassling knew that he could not keep the secret any longer, given the importance of the matter. But he saw the crisis as an opportunity to frame the House of Sainte, which he hated so much. If Hushveil City and the City of Shadows go to war - that would be wonderful. If not, at least Hofs would be furious and he would cause trouble for the House of Sainte.
"Avery. It turns out to be him!" Hofs shouted angrily, "Why am I not aware of this until now?"
"I do not wish to disturb Your Lordship, for I know that Your Lordship is a busy man. I also know that the House of Sainte has been aggressively trying to track down Avery. Therefore, I intend to wait a few days before reporting to Your Lordship. I did not expect this to happen before then. Please forgive me, my Lord. I, Hassling, have always been faithful and loyal to Your Lordship. Please know that I mean well, my Lord," Hassling replied hastily.
"My Lord, since the murdered man was Avery of the City of Shadows and not a member of our Hushveil City, we are somewhat in the wrong. After all, we had made a pact with Wallace that none of us in the Darkness Dominion would shelter Avery. Now that Avery has been found in the secret chamber of the Godswamp Pharmacy and the House of Sainte knows about it, we are not entirely in the right," the Chief of the Second Corps reminded quietly.
"So what? Does that mean that it's justifiable for the House of Sainte not to talk to the City Lord about it, so that His Lordship can do something about it, but to invade our city and commit murder? Even if we don't talk about Avery, what about my son? They openly murdered him in the street just because my son had an argument with them. Should we just forgive them for that too? It's clear from their actions that they don't think Hushveil City is a force to be reckoned with. If we compromise now, they will only become more unruly on our soil," Salouhucci shouted.
Hofs glanced at his bickering Divine Guard chiefs, then at Hassling. With a grim face he ordered, "No matter who or what, I will not allow anyone who has committed multiple murders in my city to go free. Send all your men to search and investigate. If you find them, arrest them. If they resist, kill them on the spot. The City of Shadows killed Eugene and now they are pissing all over my Hushveil City. I don't care what Wallace says, I will not tolerate him any longer!
Hofs did not change his mind, even after learning the identities of the victims and being ordered to capture the murderers, dead or alive. These leaders of the Divine Guard knew that Hofs wouldn't change his mind. They left the room with cold faces and began to gather all the Divine Guards in the city for a massive manhunt.
At that moment, Han Shuo and Rose, who had thrown Hushveil City into utter chaos, were in the most desolate part of the city. They found a new gymnasium to stay in.
Before looking for a gymnasium, Rose had completely covered her long hair with a dark headscarf to hide her most prominent feature.
Han Shuo used his divine tablet to rent the gymnasium. He sat down peacefully in the gymnasium and did not seem worried at all.
However, Han Shuo noticed that after the murder at the Godswamp Pharmacy, Rose's gaze towards him had changed somewhat. From time to time, she would look at him with her eyebrows furrowed, as if she wanted to ask him something but didn't have the courage.
After seeing this over and over again, Han Shuo became somewhat irritated. He turned to look at Rose from a distance and asked, "Speak. What is it?"
Rose hesitated for a moment before asking, "Back at Demon Mountain, why did you not try to kill me from the beginning? From the strength you displayed last night, if you had used your full strength against me, I would have been dead without a doubt."
Han Shuo had indeed attacked with his full strength. It was just that Cauldron Spirit was not with him, so he couldn't increase his strength to kill her outright. The Cauldron Spirit was Han Shuo's biggest secret. There was no way he was going to tell Rose about the presence of the Cauldron Spirit. Han Shuo stared blankly at the curious and inquisitive Rose. After half a day of being unable to come up with a reasonable excuse, he decided to simply be condescending: "Remember your identity. Don't ask so many questions that are irrelevant to you."
Han Shuo then closed his eyes and mouth and paid no further attention to Rose.
Rose became angry. The more time she spent with Han Shuo, the more beatable Han Shuo became to her. Not only would he not tell her a single truth about the secrets about him, but he would always order her around. This filled Rose's heart with dissatisfaction that she had no place to vent.
"When will we leave the city?" Rose looked at Han Shuo with hateful eyes and said, "After the one day and night of the killing spree, I assume that the whole of Hushveil City is in turmoil. Since you asked me to cover my hair, you should also know that Hushveil City will not let us go. Under such circumstances, if we are found, all the experts in Hushveil City will gather and surround us. By then, even if our strength is decent, I fear we will not be able to escape.
Although Rose was confident in her power, she knew that there was no way she could escape from such a strong encirclement. After all, the City Lord of Hushveil City alone was enough to defeat her. If all the experts of Hushveil City surrounded them, she believed that even Han Shuo wouldn't be able to escape unharmed.
"Hushveil City is on high alert right now. There are more divine guards on the streets than there are commoners. The city gates must all be sealed. Now is not the time to leave, as it is very likely that we will be caught," Han Shuo said lazily with his eyes still closed, "Besides, the matter is not over yet."
"Aren't they all dead already? What more do you want?" asked Rose in surprise.
"No, there is one left. This person is even more difficult to deal with than Avery. He is the master of the Godswamp Pharmacy, Hassling," Han Shuo opened his eyes and turned to Rose, "Even if it were not for my grudge against Hassling, I must get rid of him in order for Celestial Pearl to dominate the market in the Darkness Dominion."
"You still have the courage to attack even at this moment?" Rose was astonished at how brazen Han Shuo was. She cried out in surprise, "You should know that every spot in the city is filled with divine guards. They are all looking for the two of us. Isn't it too reckless to strike again at this time?"
Han Shuo revealed a calm smile, shrugged, and consoled, "Don't worry, I have confidence in bringing you out the City alive. Rest well for we shall head to Godswamp Pharmacy again tonight. I reckon that after such a major incident in Godswamp Pharmacy, Hassling would have returned."
Rose wore a cold face but her mind was far from being at ease. She thought, Didin't expect that I would end up following a lunatic. Am I really going to make it out of Hushveil City alive?
Although Rose had been alive for countless years, she had never met anyone who was as daring as Han Shuo was. Somehow, she felt a slight excitement in her heart. She was both worried and excited about their assassination later that night. She was not able to calm her heart for a long time.
