The creature that lived in the Boundless Sea had been searching for Han Shuo in the area. It was undoubtedly the most powerful being that dwelled in this area of the ocean, and it was used to having all other beings kneel before its appendages.
In its long years of existence, the sea monster had defeated countless creatures who had dared to challenge its power. Accustomed to victory, the creature considered itself the most powerful expert on the Profound Continent. If it hadn't been unable to leave the sea for any length of time, it would have long since set foot on land and wreaked havoc.
As soon as it received Han Shuo's message, the creature flew into a rage and charged directly towards the island where Han Shuo was standing.
From the gourd island, Han Shuo could sense that huge waves were being created in the sea. He reasoned that the sea creature must be as massive as the Primordial Dragon. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been able to create such a huge displacement in the sea.
Since the Cemetery of Death was on the gourd island, Han Shuo didn't want to leave any trace of the battle on the island. He took off as soon as he felt the creature approaching.
Over on a stretch of ocean between the two islands, Han Shuo, who was hovering high in the air, came into contact with the massive sea creature.
The sea was turbulent and choppy, as if a typhoon was raging. Seawater was sent high into the sky before raining down again.
Gradually, a huge figure emerged from the depths of the sea, creating turbulent waves. After a loud and long splash, the figure emerged completely from the sea. It sent an angry message to Han Shuo: "Damned human! How dare you challenge my power in this sea where you do not belong. You want to stay? Fine, I will grant you an eternal slumber on the ocean floor!"
Han Shuo had recognised the appearance of the creature the moment it emerged from the ocean. It was a sea monster similar to an octopus. It had an enormous body and a number of tentacles that would extend and flap in all directions when it was enraged. It seemed to possess an amazing amount of power.
The sea monster also had a layer of shell-like armour that was as tough as steel, protecting its abdomen and vital body parts.
The sea monster gradually flew into the sky, making threatening gestures. Han Shuo had expected a creature of its level to be able to fly.
"Big octopus, you want to lose your life, don't you?" Han Shuo sneered at the sea monster.
Some alien races were naturally gifted with unique body structures. These races did not need to cultivate in any of the twelve fundamental powers, yet they could still become incredibly powerful. The Six-Horned Tribe King, the Manticore Pegasus, and the Ancient Lizard King were examples of such unique races. The people of their races possessed either god-like power or some kind of unique ability. They grew stronger as they evolved.
This sea monster that resembled a giant octopus must have belonged to one of those races. Han Shuo couldn't sense the presence of any of the twelve basic energies in its body, yet its soul was extremely powerful. From this, Han Shuo understood that this great sea monster must have evolved to this stage through some kind of innate talent.
"Big... Big octopus? How dare you think of me as such a primitive organism! Damned human, you will pay for your insolence!" said the sea monster hovering above the sea, angrily.
"Look at yourself. What are you if not an octopus?" Han Shuo was stunned. He found the big octopus' reaction rather amusing.
"I am not an octopus! I never was!" The big octopus flew into a violent rage, as if someone had dug up a scar buried deep in its heart. It lunged at Han Shuo, its huge tentacles swinging furiously.
The Domain of Divinity wouldn't have much effect on beings like this sea monster that didn't rely on elemental energy for their strength. When Han Shuo saw the sea monster rushing towards him as it waved its tentacles in the sky, a sneer still on its face, he placed several Necromancy Boundaries around the monster and continued with a series of the Grand Disintegrator spell.
Under the effect of the multiple Necromancy Boundaries, the sea monster, which had sprung into action with terrifying momentum, gradually became sluggish and powerless. Its flying speed became slower and slower.
The Boundaries that the Lowgod Han Shuo had used were obviously very effective against the sea monster.
With each Grand Disintegrator spell that landed on it, large chunks of its fluttering tentacles would suddenly shatter, break off, and fall into the sea, staining the seawater with blood.
Stuck in the centre of these boundaries, the sea monster could not even get close to Han Shuo. It was very angry as it watched its tentacles fall off one by one, but there was nothing it could do about it.
"Damned human, you vile creature!" the sea monster whined in a weak voice even though it was very angry. His body grew weaker and weaker.
"Hahaha. You think you are unbeatable with that little bit of strength?" Han Shuo sneered as he cast contemptuous glances at the struggling sea monster.
Another necromancy spell was cast. Out of nowhere, a huge cage of bones materialised beneath the sea monster. The bones, as white as snow, gathered together to forcefully trap and restrain the huge sea creature.
Without moving a muscle, Han Shuo sent row upon row of bone spears at the sea monster. The sea monster reacted by screaming repeatedly. It seemed to be in great pain.
"Nice acting!" Han Shuo sneered.
When those bone spears landed on the sea monster's body, they only left blood stains on its tentacles. Thanks to the layer of shell-like armour around its vital parts, such as its abdomen, Han Shuo's bone spears had only deflected and did not cause any serious injuries.
Since those tough armours hadn't been pierced, and since injuring the tentacles wouldn't threaten the sea monster's life, Han Shuo could easily tell that the sea monster was actually faking those screams.
After the experience of fighting the Primordial Dragon, Han Shuo was no longer intimidated by beings that possessed astonishing defensive power but were poor at attacking and defending with the soul.
Han Shuo concentrated his mental power. Instead of using the 'Soul Chafe' spell he had recently mastered, he bombarded the sea monster with the 'Soul Tremor' spell.
Of course, the power unleashed by a spell differed depending on the realm of the caster. This 'Soul Tremor' spell cast by Han Shuo, who was now a Lowgod, was beyond anything the sea monster could withstand.
Immediately after the Soul Tremor spell was cast, a ghostly wailing sound echoed from the huge mouth, which was lined with rows of white teeth. This intense scream was filled with pain and misery. It was obviously not faked. The shriek started loud and grew fainter as it went on. It sounded like the sea monster was badly injured.
"Come on, keep screaming! I want to hear you scream!" Han Shuo looked down at the sea monster beneath his feet. He took a stance to unleash another wave of soul attacks.
"Spare me, please spare my life!" Contrary to what one might expect, the sea monster was quick to adapt to the circumstances. As soon as it realised that Han Shuo had the power to kill it, the sea monster admitted defeat and begged for mercy.
Han Shuo was stunned. He had not expected such a powerful creature to surrender the moment it encountered a superior being.
"Please spare my life, this will not happen again in the future. From now on, these waters will be your territory. I will stay out of your way!" the sea monster added hastily. He thought Han Shuo was indecisive when he remained silent.
Han Shuo was at a loss for words. As he looked at this sea monster that had just been raging, suddenly bowing its shoulders and begging for its life to be spared, he was somehow reminded of the Dark Dragon Gilbert that was currently in the underground world.
This sea monster and Dark Dragon Gilbert were two completely different beings, yet Han Shuo saw many similarities between the two.
Han Shuo was suddenly quite worried about Dark Dragon Gilbert. The secret of how to enter the final layer of the underground world was within the grasp of the dark dragons. At this point, all the experts from all the major material planes seemed to be interested in what lay in the depths of the underground world. Han Shuo was worried that Gilbert might be affected if those godly experts went down there.
"Please spare me. I'm just a puny little octopus. There's nothing to be gained by killing me, it's just a waste of your energy..." the sea monster babbled on and on as Han Shuo remained silent. It even admitted that it was a puny octopus.
"Give me a reason not to kill you!" Perhaps because this sea monster was similar to Gilbert in some ways, Han Shuo decided not to finish it off right away.
"I know a secret place. There may be a great treasure buried there. I can show you the way if you spare me!" the sea monster thought for a moment before hastily answering.
"Oh? What treasure?" Han Shuo asked casually. He didn't seem all that interested.
"I don't know either. It's a magical place. Even I could not enter it. But I believe that a being as powerful as you should be able to enter. I'm willing to show you the way, right now, as long as you don't kill me!" The sea monster seemed very worried when it saw Han Shuo showing little interest.
"Alright then. Take me there. If this place is really interesting, I might consider letting you go!" Han Shuo said indifferently.
As if it had found the last straw, the sea monster immediately tried to move forward to lead the way. But it immediately realised its predicament and asked in a pitiful voice, "Can you get me out of this?"
Han Shuo wasn't worried about the creature escaping. He pulled back the boundaries around it and removed the huge white bone cage that held it captive.
"If you try to escape, I promise you will die an agonising death!" Han Shuo warned with a sneer on his face.
The sea monster was terrified and repeatedly assured him that this would not happen. His huge body suddenly plunged into the sea.
It turned out that the tentacles that Han Shuo had severed from the sea monster did not sink after falling into the sea. When the giant sea monster went underwater, the detached tentacles swam back to where they had been cut off and stuck back on like glue.
It seemed routine for the sea monster to reattach the severed tentacles, as if they would soon heal completely. After a moment of observation, Han Shuo was rather amazed at the rejuvenation ability of this sea monster. He inwardly surmised that perhaps the founder of demonic arts was inspired by this species' remarkable ability to rejuvenate so quickly - even more remarkable than an octopus.
Han Shuo quietly followed the sea monster. He noticed that the sea monster was indeed very well behaved. It did not even dare to move faster. It seemed that the sea monster was scared to death by Han Shuo's power!
Soon, they arrived at their destination. It wasn't far from where the sea monster had settled. It was the exact same area that Han Shuo's consciousness could not enter.
"So this is the place. I should have guessed!" Han Shuo muttered to himself upon arrival.
"How, how do you know about this place? It's impossible, it's a lost secret. I discovered it first and never saw you come over. There's no way you could know!" the sea monster shouted when it heard Han Shuo's mumbling.
"Stop shouting. I accidentally discovered this place the last time I sensed your location. What are you making a fuss about?" Han Shuo groaned impatiently. The sea monster immediately remembered its position and quickly shut up.
When the sea monster finally fell silent, Han Shuo entered the sea and followed the creature to the bottom of the island. Deep underwater, in a thick clump of seaweed, Han Shuo felt the presence of the boundary that had previously blocked the probing of his consciousness.
"This is the place, right?" Han Shuo asked indifferently.
"Yes. There seems to be an invisible barrier around it. I can't enter it," the sea monster explained. After a short pause, he added, "However, sometimes a unique energy flows from it. A long time ago, I was just a small octopus feeding here. By chance, I was struck by this energy. That's how I became what I am now."
"Wha... What?" Han Shuo was shocked. He looked at the huge sea monster and exclaimed in disbelief, "The energy that overflowed from this place made you this powerful?"
"Yes! I'm sure of it!" the sea monster replied hastily.
This was truly a miracle! Han Shuo was extremely surprised. To hear that the energy overflowing from the Boundary could turn a small octopus into a powerful sea monster was unimaginable.
Huge waves surged in Han Shuo's heart. He pondered for a moment as he stared at the invisible border in front of him. He finally came to the conclusion that only by touching it with his hand could he truly understand what kind of energy the boundary was made of. So Han Shuo slowly marched forward with his hand outstretched, trying to push against the boundary.
However, before he got close to the boundary, a burst of strange energy suddenly shot towards Han Shuo's outstretched hand. It was a powerful energy. Even Han Shuo had to dodge it with great haste.
A lump of green light bursting with vitality flashed across the boundary before immediately returning to normal.
Han Shuo, who had managed to retreat at extreme speed, would have been drenched in cold sweat if he hadn't been underwater. He sensed that the firepower was aimed at him alone!
After carefully turning over in his mind, Han Shuo finally understood what it was. He exclaimed in surprise, "The edict energy of life! I get it now!"
The mysterious Edictal Energy of Life was perhaps the only energy capable of transforming the octopus's morphology from meagre to monstrous. The Edict Energy of Life and the Elemental Energy of Death were at odds with each other. Therefore, it was not unusual for this avatar of Han Shuo, who cultivated in the energy of death, to have such a violent reaction to the limit.
Han Shuo thought about this for a moment. He believed that his current strength was not enough to fight against the Boundary. Then he suddenly remembered the Wood Elite Zombie. His heart was filled with joy, and he quickly summoned the Wood Elite Zombie.
