The swarm of gargoyles formed dark clouds as they descended. The sea of undead creatures charged forward. Little Skeleton, mounted on a bone dragon, skilfully unleashed wave after wave of necromancy magic against the orc warriors.
When a godly being descends upon the mortal world, without an expert of the same rank, the god is virtually unstoppable!
Although Little Skeleton was only a Lowgod, necromancy magic was suitable for large-scale battles. In fact, the flood of necromancers had drowned the orc warriors.
Han Shuo's avatar transformed into a longsword that travelled with a long trail of radiance, meandering over the battlefield. Wherever he passed, he left the orc warriors in pieces, not a single one of them intact.
This battle was a total imbalance of power to one side. Against Han Shuo and Little Skeleton, two Lowgod existences, these orc warriors, who had been acting like overlords for the past few years, became sitting ducks waiting to be slaughtered. They had no ability to resist.
Even the shamans sent by the orc warriors were slaughtered on the spot by Han Shuo and Little Skeleton like dried twigs. The power the duo possessed had far, far surpassed those experts. Their deaths dealt a terrible psychological blow to the orc warriors.
The slaughter continued on the battlefield. The undead creatures that littered the battlefield felt no fear or pain. In these respects, they were undoubtedly the most terrifying soldiers. As long as their souls remained, they could continue to attack even if their bodies were destroyed.
With the use of all kinds of auxiliary boundaries, the strength and speed of the undead creatures were greatly increased. They continued to attack the orc warriors wildly...
Unwittingly, the orc army that had been covetously eyeing the southern border city for the past few years had suffered catastrophic losses under the combined assault of Han Shuo and Little Skeleton. None of the orc experts sent to interfere with the duo had made it out alive, and all of them had been cleanly eliminated. Faced with the undead creatures that seemed to know neither pain nor fatigue, more and more orcs of this huge army screamed like ghosts and collapsed into their own pool of blood...
Whoosh!
A bloody light that carried an apocalyptic power for more than a hundred metres suddenly struck the encampment in the centre of the orc camp.
Rumbling...
The earth shook. Sand and stones were sent flying in all directions. A dozen military tents burst apart in the deafening explosion. A mixture of blood, minced meat and camp structure was propelled into the air.
A dozen tents, along with the dozens of leaders of the Orc Empire they housed, were completely destroyed!
""The orcs are finished!" Firenze shouted in a deep, agitated voice from the top of the southern wall.
"Without leaders or experts, just the soldiers, they are doomed." Fanny nodded in agreement. Looking at the massacred orc warriors, she shook her head and sighed softly, "Why were these orcs so determined to invade our land? Now that they have been destroyed by Han Shuo, how many of them will be left?"
"Such is the cruelty between lands. You don't need to sympathise with them. Southern Border City has lost many men in recent years. Their weapons are stained with the blood of the people of Southern Border City. Perhaps Bryan's arrival is the punishment they deserve for their transgressions." As a general, Firenze was not a naturally merciful character. Having seen so many battles, death was all too normal to him. His heart felt no discomfort at the deaths of these orc warriors.
Without the guidance of their leaders, without the protection of their experts, these orc warriors, who had been on the defensive throughout the battle, had been crushed as expected. As blood spurted in all directions, more and more orc warriors collapsed to the ground, becoming just another body on the ground...
At some point, two towering altars were erected in the centre of the battlefield. The energy stones on the altars emitted a dazzling glow. Two whirlwinds of ever-changing shapes gathered the energy strands floating above the battlefield, supplementing the divine energy for the two altar builders.
Of the two altars, one was shrouded in an intense aura of death, while the other had a strange, indistinct light that seemed to emanate from the Edict of Destruction. The two altars, emitting auras of different energies, were operating simultaneously in the centre of the battlefield. Bit by bit, they were sucking in and absorbing the unique energies created by death and destruction.
As the energy of death and destruction increased on the battlefield, the number of orc warriors decreased. As time passed, the pitiful screams became less and less frequent, becoming intermittent before ceasing altogether.
Han Shuo returned to his human form and floated high in the air. He looked down and discovered that every inch of the ground was hidden beneath the bodies of the orc warriors. It was becoming extremely difficult to find an orc that had not yet perished. Aside from the carcasses of the orcs, the undead creature was mechanically searching for any living targets.
The battle seemed to be over.
As he hovered above, Han Shuo could feel strands and strands of energy flowing through the altar at the centre of the battlefield and into his body. The energies then merged with the divine energy in his body. He watched intently as his divine energy increased.
Han Shuo gradually came to understand the motive of the two Overgods of Death and Destruction. Through some unique means involving altars and soul brands, even if they were separated by several material planes, the two Overgods could still acquire energy from death and destruction. The greater the number of deaths, the greater the energy they would receive.
As Han Shuo used the altar he had set up to absorb the energy of destruction from the battlefield, which was made available by the deaths of several hundred thousand orc warriors, he could clearly feel his divine energy rising rapidly. After doing some mental calculations, Han Shuo discovered that the accumulated destructive energy was equivalent to the power of faith he could collect from a few hundred thousand people over a few dozen years, or the equivalent of several dozen years of self-cultivation.
It was no wonder that the Overgods of Death and Destruction were so desperate to send Lowgods under their control to cause death on other material planes. It was much easier to harvest energy in this way than through tedious cultivation. Of the countless material planes, if countless living beings were to be destroyed on each of them, the Overgods of Death and Destruction would surely gain a considerable amount of energy that would greatly deepen their divine energies.
"Father, they are no longer a threat. I need to go back and digest the energy I just received," Little Skeleton transmitted while Han Shuo thought to himself.
Han Shuo lifted his head to see Little Skeleton hovering silently above the altar of death on his bone dragon. The tombstone on his chest looked like a small whirlpool that was swirling rapidly. The altar below him seemed to have used up all its energy and was no longer glowing with light.
"Okay," Han Shuo replied. He noticed that the tombstone on Little Skeleton's chest seemed to have the function of speeding up the collection and absorption of the energy of death. Han Shuo had set up his altar at almost the same time as Little Skeleton, but at that moment, Little Skeleton had not only sucked up all the Death Energy around the altar, he had even completed the energy transformation inside his body while Han Shuo was only halfway through.
Of course, Little Skeleton would not be polite to Han Shuo. After reciting a miraculous incantation, the altar beneath him, which was originally used to collect the energy of death, suddenly glowed with a dull neon green light. The swarms of undead creatures rushed to the centre of the altar and disappeared into the light.
The undead were gone as quickly as they had come. It was only a matter of time before the huge number of undead creatures returned to the Netherworld through the altar beneath Little Skeleton.
After seeing that all the undead creatures had entered the altar in an orderly fashion, Little Skeleton turned to Han Shuo and said, "Alright. Please send me home, Father."
Although Han Shuo was somewhat surprised, he did not say so. After reciting a simple necromancy incantation, Little Skeleton seemed to be grabbed by space-time and disappeared in a bright flash of light.
"This kid is getting more and more wondrous," Han Shuo lamented with a smile.
Instead of rushing off, Han Shuo hovered at the same spot and silently absorbed the destructive energy above the battlefield using the altar below him.
The destructive energy generated by the death of a few hundred thousand orcs was considerable. Without a miraculous treasure like the Little Skeleton's tombstone, Han Shuo would have to spend more time and effort to absorb the energy.
Han Shuo was in no hurry. He floated in mid-air as he connected his soul to the altar below.
His Domain of Divinity unfolded to form a spiderweb-like barrier, absorbing the energy of destruction that gathered inside the altar bit by bit. Han Shuo took a deep breath before flying downwards with his palm facing the altar.
It seemed to be covered by a disembodied canvas as it disappeared inch by inch.
Han Shuo looked around the battlefield. He looked at the corpses, weapons, and armour scattered about, shook his head, and flew towards South Border City.
In the past, Han Shuo would have stayed to collect the weapons and armour. But times had changed. These weapons and armour were no longer worth anything in Han Shuo's eyes, so he wouldn't waste his time on this junk.
After a streak of light flashed through, a majestic figure appeared next to Firenze, who was still staring at the battlefield.
"Southern Border City will not face any threats from the Orc Empire for a while. Good, clean up the battlefield.
Some of the items might be worth some money," Han Shuo said smiling as he looked at Firenze beside him.
Firenze was suddenly awakened and turned to look at Han Shuo. This tough man who had been unrestrained and rude all this time was now fumbling for words. He stared blankly for a while before he forced a smile and nodded as he said, "Hundreds of thousands of orcs - all gone - just like that. Even if the Orc Empire still has troops left, they will never dare to invade our southern border city again until they find out what happened."
Han Shuo grinned and said calmly, "Oh, good. After I take care of the great threat that is the Kasi Empire, we can reassemble our military and invade them instead!"
Firenze listened, then fell silent again for a long time as he looked deeply into Han Shuo's eyes. After an eternity, he finally proclaimed, "With you, the Empire is invincible!"
