If the Primordial Dragon hadn't cut Han Shuo off from the interplanar portal, he would have killed Adele five years ago. Who would have thought that in just five years, Adele, who looked nothing special, would be able to cause such a huge disturbance in Brettel City? This was indeed something Han Shuo had not foreseen.
From the stories told by Stratholme, Jack, and others, Han Shuo quickly got a glimpse of the current situation. Since his strength had risen to such a level, Han Shuo basically took no threat on the Profound Continent to heart.
Han Shuo expanded his consciousness and took a tour of Brettel City. Almost immediately, he sensed the Shrine of the Spider Goddess Rose.
There was a temple at the top of Mount Silk. In the centre of the temple, a number of worshippers worshipped a mysterious carved statue of the Spider Goddess Rose.
Some of the worshippers, dressed in black robes, prostrated themselves before this statue of the Spider Goddess Rose, offering their devout faith. An exquisite and elegant lady with purple hair stood coldly before the statue of the Spider Goddess. With her hand, she sprinkled spots of eerie light on the worshippers kowtowing before her.
In times of war, ordinary people at the lowest levels of society needed someone to place their faith in. Adele, who claimed to be Han Shuo's woman, gained the trust of Emily, Phoebe and the others through extraordinary means. Even Lawrence held her in high esteem. Under her publicity, the Spider Goddess Rose became the one to whom many citizens of Brettel City gave their faith.
The temple at the top of Mount Silk was currently the largest place of worship within the borders of Brettel City. As Spider Goddess Rose had performed her miracles several times in recent years, each and every one of her followers had become very willing and motivated to preach their religion, taking their own initiatives to persuade the commoners around them to place their faith in Spider Goddess Rose.
In the restricted area at the back of the temple, Adele, who had changed her identity, sat cross-legged at the centre of a spider web-shaped magical matrix. There was an intense element of darkness around her. She wore a solemn expression, vague dark radiance shining from her.
Suddenly, an intense palpitation rose from her heart. It was as if some terrible danger was descending from the heavens.
After five years, through her own hard work and the generosity of the Spider Goddess, Adele was now a demigod expert. Inside Brettel City, by relying on her special identity, she had established close relationships with important characters at Han Shuo's side, thus becoming an extraordinary existence. She believed that within Brettel City, no one could threaten her.
"What's going on?" Adele muttered to herself as she gently opened her eyes.
As soon as she opened her eyes, the spider webs around her disappeared into her body. There was a huge spider web enveloping the empty temple hall. A few shadows that had lingered at the top of the web slid down effortlessly. Five ladies appeared with blank, empty eyes.
"Your Holiness, any instructions?" one of the ladies inquired in a dull, lifeless tone.
"Nothing. I just feel a little uneasy," Adele replied calmly with a frown. Every time she saw those wooden faces, she felt a sense of fear and unease. Deep in her heart, however, she understood that she needed these assistants, who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.
"With us here, no one can hurt you. You just have to do the things that you are supposed to do and nothing will happen to you," the leading lady said in a lifeless voice.
"When will the goddess give me more energy?"
"When each and every citizen of Brettel City fully acknowledges the existence of the Goddess; when all their power of Faith belongs to the Goddess, you will be given more energy," the lady replied in the same dull tone.
A cold voice suddenly sounded from outside the temple, "You will never have that chance! The next moment, a majestic figure could be seen walking step by step.
"Bryan! It's you! It's really you!" Adele exclaimed in surprise. With anger in her eyes, she began to scream hysterically, "You're alive, you're really alive! Good, very good! Hahaha!"
Seeing Adele laughing, Han Shuo replied with an icy heart, "What? Why did you stop disguising yourself all of a sudden?"
"Back then, I only hid my true identity because I couldn't kill you. But now you are undoubtedly dead. So why should I keep pretending?" Adele glared at Han Shuo resentfully. A familiar aura reappeared from her body. She continued word for word, "Everything I have done is to make you pay the price!"
"All by yourself?" Han Shuo sneered as he looked at Adele coldly.
"Not me," Adele took a deep breath before pointing at the ladies around him and saying, "It's them!"
As Adele spoke, the five ladies with pale faces and blank eyes had unknowingly surrounded Han Shuo. The aura of darkness began to emanate from their bodies.
All five of these ladies had cultivated in the element of darkness, possessing at least demigod strength. Han Shuo could sense a trace of the dark divine energy emanating from the Spider Goddess Rose on the five of them.
Han Shuo nodded and said callously, "No wonder even the old monster Stratholme has reservations. So it turns out that it's these few guys who are at your side."
"Are you afraid? Hahaha!" Adele certainly looked beautiful as she laughed, but her eyes were filled with resentment as she stared at Han Shuo and continued, "How wonderful that you are still alive. Now I get to watch you die a slow death!"
Five years ago, Han Shuo gained demigod strength when he cultivated his demonic arts to the carnal realm. With each realm increase in the demonic arts, one's strength would increase by tens or even hundreds of times. Han Shuo, who was currently at the realm of Nine Changes, didn't have a clear understanding of where his actual strength stood. But clearly, Han Shuo did not feel the slightest bit of danger from being surrounded by the five ladies.
In Han Shuo's eyes, these seemingly lifeless ladies were no different to ants. He could pinch them to death at will.
"Well, let's not waste any time, shall we?" Han Shuo said coldly. The next moment, a ruthless, sinister energy suddenly erupted from his body. The five expressionless ladies surrounding Han Shuo in the middle trembled slightly.
It was absolutely smooth and easy to slaughter lower level beings. As the ruthless, sinister energy was released from Han Shuo's two hands, explosive sounds echoed around him and a few trails of bloody light flashed in the gloomy hall. The five ladies, who couldn't even react to the attack, had truly turned into lifeless bodies.
After the demonic blades were spread, the cold, sharp blades landed next to the smooth skin on Adele's neck. Han Shuo coldly looked at the horrified Adele and said, "Five years ago, I could have easily finished you off. Five years later, you still do not stand a chance against me. All your efforts have been for a predetermined end - die once again!"
"No! I cannot accept that!" Adele began to scream as if she had gone mad. Her pair of resentful eyes glared at Han Shuo as she said, "How? How did you become so strong? How is it that the Goddess' meticulously cultivated servants have no ability to resist?"
Perhaps Adele had received too much shock, she paid no attention to the demonic blades at her throat. When she screamed, she shook her head so much that she came into contact with the blades, leaving a blood stain on her neck.
Han Shuo did not kill Adele right away. This woman who had been using his name to recruit followers for the Spider Goddess had one last important task to complete.
The demonic blades were suddenly withdrawn and Han Shuo's left hand regained its smoothness. Grabbing her by the hair, Han Shuo dragged the pitiful looking Adele straight towards the main hall in front of them.
"What are you doing? What are you doing?" Adele continued to scream.
Han Shuo paid no attention to her. He dragged the deranged woman all the way to the altar of this largest Spider Goddess Shrine in Brettel City. At that moment, several Spider Goddess worshippers were still humbly crouching and worshipping at the towering altar in front of them.
"Saintess!" the elegant lady presiding over the ceremony screamed at the top of her voice as she saw the Shrine Master being dragged like a beaten dog. She couldn't contain the fear in her heart.
Heretic, let go of the saintess!" When the worshippers discovered the scene, they gasped and screamed.
With a wave of his hand, a bright, shapeless boundary blocked all those people. Ignoring their fury, Han Shuo threw Adele directly into the centre of the altar platform and activated the altar with routine and ease.
Hundreds and thousands of spider webs shot out like little snakes, immediately enveloping Adele. Dazzling rays of light appeared on Adele's spider-webbed body in the centre of the altar, along with the descent of a mysterious energy. In the next moment, Adele's eyes opened wide and turned towards Han Shuo. Her gaze was strange and sinister.
"Who are you? How dare you interfere in my affairs?" Adele suddenly spoke in an unfamiliar voice, unlike her own.
"I am the master of Brettel City. If you want to steal the power of faith that belongs to me, come here and take it yourself," Han Shuo said calmly as he looked coldly at Adele, who was channeling the divine soul that separated countless material planes.
Adele's eyes stared deeply at Han Shuo for a while. After a moment of silence, she suddenly said, "I will go there myself!"
"Very well. It's about time to clear things up!" Han Shuo said in a deep voice.
Adele's eyes slowly began to close. Blood gushed out of her seven orifices. Seeing that Adele had completed her mission, Han Shuo gave her a gentle tap on the forehead, completely erasing her soul.
