The Void? What kind of place is that?" Han Shuo was stunned. What kind of terrible dangers and threats could lurk in a place that even the five great demon kings were afraid to enter?
"This is the root of our material plane. It contains all kinds of devastating chaotic energies, as well as all kinds of naturally formed offensive boundaries and strange scenes. It is extremely frightening," Manticole wore a grave expression as he mentioned this 'Void', seemingly uncomfortable with this unusual place.
Han Shuo really didn't care if the 'Void' was frightening or not. He had no desire or plan to explore the place. All he wanted was to leave the realm of the Abyss. After thinking for a moment, Han Shuo took out the bone tablet he had obtained from the War Demon Valley's weapons depot from his space ring. He raised it in his hand and asked Manticole, "This bone tablet, Crosius told me that he obtained it from you. Can you tell me where you got this bone tablet?"
A bone tablet that still had its imprint on it was the key to activating Cemetery of Death. If a bone tablet appeared in such a place, then Cemetery of Death must be nearby. If Han Shuo could find out the origin of the bone tablet from Manticole, he might very well find the location of another Cemetery of Death. In that case, Han Shuo could use the planar coordinates and teleport directly to the transportation matrix at the centre of his Cemetery of Death back on the Profound Continent. He could skip the search for another interplanar transportation matrix within this plane.
"Oh! That thing!" Manticole smiled as he looked deeply at Han Shuo and said, "This small tablet I received from the Void the last time I entered. Including this magic ring of mine, everything came from the Void. Hehehe, to be honest, only in this place can you obtain certain unusual items that the Abyss Realm lacks."
Han Shuo was stunned by these words. He stared at Manticole with gleaming eyes and thought, "Could this Manticole be deliberately making things up to deceive me? From Manticole's manner of speaking, Han Shuo could tell that Manticole seemed to be luring him into the Void to see things for himself. Perhaps Manticole thought that he wasn't really interested in this place, so he told him an untruth?
After watching Manticole's expression carefully for quite a while, Han Shuo saw that he only had a calm expression on his face, and he couldn't find any clues in his face. He couldn't help but ask puzzled, "Could it be that the Void is a hub that connects to another plane? Why else would there be so many unusual things there?"
Manticole shook his head with a bitter smile and said, "How did the Void form? Is it a hub connecting to other planes? I have no idea. But what I do know is that the Void is the most mysterious place on our material plane. According to legend, the Interplanetary Transport Array is located at the centre of the Void. I have only been to the Void twice, and I have had my fair share of puzzling discoveries. Personally, I think it was a battlefield. I discovered the Divine Weapon, the Divine Essence, and the Divine Soul, which had no consciousness and was left with only memories.
"Divine Weapon! Divine Essence! Divine Soul!" Han Shuo was startled. His jaw dropped to the ground as he screamed, "How is this possible?!"
Divine Weapons were weapons forged by gods, into which they could pour their divine energy directly. Gods of different levels would forge divine weapons of their respective levels. A high-grade divine weapon could fully bring out the divine energy of its owner, and might even have the miraculous ability to amplify their divine energy. Divine essence was also an extremely miraculous item. They were exotic substances, and no one knew how they were formed. There were twelve different types of Divine Essence for each of the twelve fundamental powers. Gods could absorb the energy within the Divine Essence to increase their divine power, provided that they were of the same energy type.
Therefore, Divine Essences were extremely valuable!
Divine Essence was precious on every material plane where gods existed. They were so rare and scarce that no one had any hope of finding them. Han Shuo had never expected that Divine Essence would actually exist within the Void.
Divine Soul, which consisted of nothing but memories, was formed when a god died in an unusual way. After death, their souls would enter a mysterious state and would not disperse between heaven and earth for some time. They were harmless. All that was left of them was their understanding and comprehension of the elemental energy or edict power in which they cultivated. They were stranded in a strange state of matter that contained all the memories of a being while it was alive, minus any autonomy or consciousness. Most importantly, they could be assimilated by the soul.
Compared to a divine weapon and a divine essence, an unconscious divine soul was much rarer and more precious. The reason for this was that for gods, the most elementary determinant of their strength was rank. Imagine, if a lowgod were to receive the memories of a mid-god cultivating in the same energy, and gain a whole new level of cultivation experience, how many tortuous paths would he have saved himself?
In fact, every god had a divine soul. However, a Divine Soul that had no consciousness or awareness, only memories and understanding of its elemental energy or edict Forces, would be rare and couldn't be artificially created. According to the legends, only in an extremely bizarre, chaotic space - perhaps a god dying of all sorts of unnatural causes - would there be the slightest chance of a soul transforming into a Divine Soul with only memories left.
Divine Weapon, Divine Essence and Divine Soul. Three treasures. Each more precious than the other. When Han Shuo heard Manticole say that the Void actually contained these three items, he was stunned. He lost control of himself and let out a cry of surprise in front of Manticole!
"I didn't believe it at first. But between the two times I entered the Void, I saw all three of those divine objects. Those things in there obviously did not come from our realm of the Abyss. Yes, this magical ring, for example, there are no materials in the Abyss that could forge it," Manticole explained gravely.
Upon hearing Manticole's words, Han Shuo's heart turned greedy. Divine Weapon, Divine Essence and Divine Soul, these three treasures were of great and vital use to a god. For Han Shuo, a god who was without a solid foundation in his cultivation to say the least, if he could obtain a Divine Essence or a Divine Soul, he would immediately gain a huge leap in power. How could he be anything but excited?
"Um, what did you mean when you said you had to wait for it to open?" Han Shuo asked the important question with a heart swollen with desire.
"There is a layer of naturally formed stardust current around the Void. This thing can corrode our Divine Souls just like that. As long as the Stardust Current is flowing, we have absolutely no way of entering! However, every now and then the Stardust Current will change direction and flow elsewhere. Then we will have the opportunity to enter the Void. At the regular rate, it would take another two hundred years for the stardust stream to flow elsewhere. However, several space-time discontinuity regions that suddenly appeared in the Abyss some time ago seem to have stirred up the flow of the Stardust Stream and altered its course. I received word a few days ago that, based on the current trajectory, it won't be long before the Void is accessible again. Manticole was also excited. It seemed that he, too, was extremely thirsty for those three divine items in the Void!
"So you want me to go there with you?" Han Shuo asked as he looked at Demon King Manticole.
Manticole nodded with a smile and flatly admitted, "Yes. Of the five great Demon Kings of the Abyss, Leviathan and I have a close relationship. Golander and Cecrops have a rather friendly relationship that runs deep. As for Bechymos, he's a lone wolf. Whenever the Void is open, the five of us usually end up there together. We have often fought over the prizes. With you on board, I believe we would have more certainty on our side this time."
"Oh?" Han Shuo stared blankly for a moment. After thinking for a short while, he had more or less understood the whole story. Smiling, he said, "All five of you are lowgods, powerful experts who possess the Domain of Divinity. If I were to participate, would I have any chance of surviving?"
"Mister Han Shuo must be joking," Manticole said mildly. "Being able to slaughter three Shadow Warriors in no time at all has amply proven that your strength far exceeds that of a demon. I also sensed an intense aura of destruction emanating from your body. Although you are not yet able to form a Domain of Divinity, your cultivation of the Edict of Destruction must have taken you to the realm of Lowgods. Hehehe, it is only on this basis that you have the power to defend yourself. What's more, since Leviathan and I are in the same group with you, we can take care of each other. So there shouldn't be any major problems. Divine Weapon, Divine Essence and Divine Soul - I think you realise how important these things are to us. Not to mention that the interplanar portal is in there too. There's only one chance. I believe you know what's best for you."
Han Shuo basically had no second choice. Not to mention Han Shuo's desire for those three treasures, the mere fact that the interplanar transportation matrix was inside the Void would mean that Han Shuo had no choice but to venture inside.
Nodding with a forced smile, Han Shuo said, "It seems I have no reason to refuse."
"Very well. Let's not talk about other matters for now. I will see to it that Mr Han Shuo gets a good rest. You can use your time to digest what I've told you. In fact, I must seek out Leviathan myself to begin discussions. I will contact you again when the Void is about to open," Manticole knew that Han Shuo had basically agreed to his proposal, and he stopped being verbose.
"Alright. I really need to think about this," Han Shuo replied. After that, he stayed in Black Jade City for the time being, as per Manticole's arrangement.
The news that the three divine objects could be found in the most mysterious Void came as a huge shock to Han Shuo. He desperately needed time to think the matter through, and to understand the relationships between the five great demon kings, so that he would not be used as a tool by Manticole once he entered the Void.
