Chapter 513 - CHAPTER 514: Boundless Resentment

When the Blood Seether was used, a few hundred Abyssal Demons were enveloped in a mist of blood and their bodies exploded.

Even this huge cyst-like demon could not resist the influence of the Blood Seether and exploded into pieces. Its pitiful green blood spewed out in a fishy stench that stung the nostrils.

As it turned out, its blood was also quite corrosive. Every demon in its vicinity was drenched in the substance and melted into liquid flesh. Surprisingly, every single one of them succumbed to the corrosion and fell six feet under.

He truly deserved his title as leader. Even in death, he had to drag his subordinates along with him to share his fate, Han Shuo thought to himself as he continued to control the Blood Seether, sending it to new, approaching Abyssal Demons.

The ruthless, bloodthirsty abyssal demons now seemed to fear the Blood Seether - they were not afraid of death, yet they avoided the Blood Seether at all costs.

The Blood Seether had opened a path in front of Han Shuo. He took note of the sea of demon corpses, sinking like stones instead of floating over the vast expanse of white cloud. Who knew what horrors lay beneath.

The first thing Han Shuo noticed was that the bodies of the fallen titan and dragon were nowhere to be seen. At first, he thought they had just been torn limb from limb and devoured, but now he knew that they had probably sunk through the clouds as well.

This place was truly bewildering. With space and time out of whack, strange out-of-this-world phenomena were occurring like a new normal. Bizarre events were taking place that defied common sense and challenged Han Shuo's most basic understanding of the laws of nature. Han Shuo was convinced that a place like this could not belong to any physical plane of existence.

The interplanar gate behind Han Shuo suddenly swelled. Speckles of coloured light were emanating from the centre of the gate. The layers of light and shadow intertwined to reveal a breathtaking sight.

In front of him, as the Blood Seether pushed forward, hundreds more Abyssal Demons retreated in fear. The Blood Seether, dancing in the bloody cloud, became the most terrifying object in the eyes of the Abyssal Demons, as if it were a black hole capable of sucking in and killing everything in its path.

Dong Dong... Dong Dong...

Sudden booms came from behind the Abyssal Demons, each one growing louder and louder. The aim seemed to be to give the demons a jolt of courage, and it seemed to be working. Several long, slender, winged abyssal demons immediately launched themselves at the Blood Seether like kamikaze pilots.

The demons resembled giant hawks, and their wings were like daggers, sharp and glistening. Their sudden appearance shocked Han Shuo, they were so fast that he did not even have time to withdraw his Blood Seether.

Clang clang... clang clang...

The demons organised themselves into a long line and took turns slashing at the weapon with their wings.

One, two, three...

There were fifteen of these winged demons in all. In the blink of an eye, each of them slashed at the same spot with the utmost precision and force.

As their master, Han Shuo could feel the impact on the Blood Seether. It was a tremendous force, too much. A hole had been torn through the weapon, meaning that despite its tiny size, it had still been penetrated.

After a round of blows, the abyssal creatures circled, took aim and charged at the blood seether again. As they came into contact with the bloody mist around the blood seether, the blood in their bodies began to boil.

This slightly disrupted their formation, but they were determined and held on as hard as they could. They shot at the Blood Seether once more, determined to tear it apart even if it meant sacrificing their lives.

Any creature willing to risk its own life would release an unimaginable amount of energy. Even a puny little human, undaunted in the face of death, would become extremely formidable; even more so for the already fierce and powerful abyssal creatures.

Seeing that the next wave was about to strike, Han Shuo quickly cast a demonic spell, causing the Blood Seether to return to him.

Refining the Blood Seether wasn't an easy task. It consumed a lot of precious resources and took a lot of time and energy. A torn opening could be slowly mended, but once it was shredded to pieces by that group of deranged demons, Han Shuo could only forge a completely new one.

Immediately after Han Shuo cast the demonic spell, the Blood Seether's flight became erratic. The fifteen hawk-like abyssal creatures had no choice but to constantly change their targets as they closely pursued the Blood Seether.

Pop Pop Pop....

Unfortunately, their bodies could no longer withstand the boiling blood coursing through their veins, and one by one, they exploded in front of Han Shuo. Fragments of their dagger-like wings were hurled at Han Shuo.

With a wave of his hand, a white bone shield blossomed from the dripping blood. The daggers aimed at Han Shuo were blocked by the white bone shield. Soon, the abyssal demons that had been cowering before the power of the Blood Seether rushed forward when Han Shuo finally withdrew it. They charged forward even more ferociously than before, seemingly unafraid of death.

Dong Dong... Dong Dong...

From what seemed to be miles behind the creatures of the abyss, a strange ding echoed repeatedly. It was as if some sort of magic spell had cast a spell on the Abyssal Creatures, making them even more ruthless and ferocious.

Could an abyssal demon in the form of a magus be behind this strange occurrence?

This absurd hypothesis suddenly occurred to Han Shuo. Accustomed as he was to the combination of warriors and mages of the Profound Continent, Han Shuo would naturally assume that in a great battle, behind the front lines of brave fighters, there would always be priests and mages serving as necessary support units. It was only through the enhancement of magic that the fighters could increase their aggression and lose their fear of death.

But this was a space-time discontinuity zone, and he was facing abyssal demons that had only been heard of in folk tales. No one had actually seen them. How could there be high-level beings as powerful as the mages among these filthy, otherworldly creatures?

Han Shuo quickly dismissed this absurd idea of his. He reinforced his shield with demonic yuan and continued to unleash bone spear after bone spear. It was certainly not the most precise method of attack, but it covered the ground.

Without the undead army at his disposal, the battle became a most challenging war of attrition. Han Shuo's mental strength was rapidly depleting as he wiped out hundreds and thousands of Abyssal Demons. The sheer number of these things was beyond imagination. The hordes seemed to never end.

A long but unspecified amount of time passed as Han Shuo defended the interplanar gate, and he began to feel rather numb. It was just repetition, releasing all those spells like a machine.

Suddenly, Han Shuo felt an intense space-time fluctuation coming from the portal behind him. He was excited for a moment. He quickly turned around to see that the interplanar portal was quickly healing.

It's finally over. I'm the saviour of the Profound Continent! Han Shuo thought. At this point, Han Shuo had almost exhausted his mental strength. He was even ready to use demonic arts again to resist the endless wave of abyssal creatures.

In one fell swoop, Han Shuo unleashed all of his remaining mental strength. Under the amplification of the skeletal staff, row upon row of densely packed bone spears shot out in front of Han Shuo. Taking advantage of this space of opportunity, Han Shuo turned around and prepared to cross the healing interplanar portal and return to the beautiful Profound Continent.

As Han Shuo flew towards the interplanar door at the speed of light, an unstoppable, gigantic energy erupted from the interplanar tunnel. This invincible energy carried the Dragon Breath of the Primordial Dragon, disrupting Han Shuo's speed.

Not only had the invincible energy hindered Han Shuo on his way to the interplanar tunnel, a portion of that energy also rushed through Han Shuo's body. In a fraction of a second, Han Shuo's mighty body, tempered by tremendous willpower, had suffered considerable damage.

Han Shuo was finally experiencing the true divine power of the Primordial Dragon!

"NOOO!" Han Shuo was incredulous.

He had never thought that after giving his all and risking his life to defend the Titans, Dragons and all living things on the Profound Continent, he would be treated so badly! This was an intolerable, shameful betrayal. Even Han Shuo, someone who was all too familiar with the wickedness of humans, could not believe what was happening to him.

"You are a necromancer of the Church of Calamity. You are the source of evil. There is no place for your presence on the Profound Continent. The realm of the Abyss, where evil lurks at every turn, is where you truly belong. I have shown you mercy..." a snippet of Primordius Dragon's thoughts fell to Han Shuo from the distant Profound Continent. Stopping just short of the interplanar gate, Han Shuo took one last look down the tunnel and saw the two demigod existences from the Church of Light - the same duo he had met earlier at the Sacred Mountain of the Church of Light.

The two demigod existences of the Church of Light gazed at the healing interplanar portal with cold eyes. They smiled faintly and chatted quietly with the Primordial Dragon below. It was obvious that the Abyssal Demons' fierce attack on the Profound Continent was over.

Gradually, the gate was completely sealed, the last glimpse of the Profound Continent frozen in his mind forever. The two demigods of the Church of Light staring blankly at the gate; the hundred metre long Primordial Dragon circling the peak; the scene remained frozen in Han Shuo's mind.

Han Shuo had never hated a living being as much as he did at this moment, but the Primordial Dragon had managed to change that! Because of the one-sided testimony of the two demigod existences of the Church of Light, because of his identity as a necromancer, the fact that Han Shuo had lent a hand and risked his life meant nothing. The great and glorious Primordial Dragon heartlessly cut off Han Shuo's path home, leaving unimaginable damage to his body!

Drenched in blood, Han Shuo cackled. He laughed at his own naive benevolence, his foolish kindness, his presumptuous opinions. He laughed so hard that tears began to flow...

"Farewell, profound continent. Farewell, my friends. Farewell, my lovers. There is no going home from here. I can only wander in this strange realm of the Abyss for the rest of my life...

"If, if I can return to the Profound Continent, what Church of Light, what Primordial Dragon, what Titans, all of them, all the traitors, I will make them pay...

"Hahahaha, I'm a necromancer of the Church of Calamity. I'm the source of evil in the Profound Continent. The evil-filled Abyss Realm is where I truly belong. Hahaha, he even showed me mercy, he chose not to kill me on the spot, he just made it impossible for me to see my loved ones forever. How merciful! How merciful of the Primordial Dragon! Hahaha...

Han Shuo paid no attention to his damaged, blood-soaked body, laughing hysterically as hundreds upon thousands of Abyssal Demons surrounded him. His laughter was filled with grief, sorrow, despair, and most of all, boundless resentment...
