Chapter 511 - CHAPTER 512: Demons From The Abyss

The Primordial Dragon coiled the mountain high above, lifting its neck as it exhaled its glittering dragon breath into the sky. His breath radiated a power so terrifying that it seemed enough to rip space itself apart.

It had certainly been enough to cause the seven gates in the sky to glow with spectacular beams of light, constantly fading through the spectrum as if suppressed by this power and slowly healing.

Of the seven gates where the rays of light intertwined, six of them were guarded by a demigod being. From their backs, Han Shuo could see their desperate struggles and their resilience as they did all they could to resist the arrival of some ferocious creatures.

Only one door near the edge did not have a demigod being of similar power guarding it. It was guarded by a rank four golden dragon that had encountered some sort of powerful creature. Golden dragons were said to have the strongest bodies of all dragons. Yet this golden dragon was writhing in the doorway, blood spurting all over it.

It was clear that the level four golden dragon could not possibly withstand whatever creature was behind that door, and had suffered brutal injuries to its body in the fight.

Looking closer, Han Shuo saw that what lay beyond the seven spectacular doors in the sky appeared to be another unknown world. It seemed that without entering the door, it would be impossible to know what was on the other side, for all he could see were long streaks of light streaking across like shooting stars.

Seven doors, seven creatures, six of them demigod existences. Each and every one of them fighting with all their might against some terrible threat.

The Primordial Dragon, who as far as anyone could tell had been around since the beginning of time, was using his divine power to suppress the changes and transformations of the seven doors, trying to slowly heal them to prevent something that could threaten the entire Profound Continent from entering through the seven doors.

Han Shuo watched the changes in the sky as his heart was filled with the most intense curiosity. He was engrossed in the scenery behind the seven doors as his mind flickered through the endless possibilities of what could be behind those doors that were so eager to burst through.

After entering the Carnal Realm, Han Shuo had encountered some of the most powerful beings on the Profound Continent, and was beginning to understand some of their secrets. From what he could see, Han Shuo was convinced that the seven doors led to another plane of existence, and that the Primordial Dragon and the other six demigod existences were doing their best to prevent any extraplanar being from tearing through the passageways.

The Titans and the Primordial Dragon were indeed silently serving the Profound Continent! Han Shuo thought.

"Human, what do you want?" As Han Shuo watched his surroundings with a grave expression on his face, a roar came from the mouth of the silver dragon that Han Shuo had been pursuing. It was obvious that the silver dragon was furious, its teeth bared and its claws extended in frustration.

Every single titan and dragon in the great valley turned away from the battle in the sky and fixed their giant eyes on Han Shuo.

There were over ten titans and twice as many dragons. Together, these beings formed a force so powerful that it could lift any nation to greatness and glory. With so many powerful ancient beings staring directly at him, Han Shuo felt an unfathomable pressure pressing down on him, causing him great discomfort.

Unlike the six demigods in the sky, the titans and dragons in the valley were not as powerful. However, with well over forty colossal beings suddenly staring at him, the pressure was still unusually terrifying.

"Human, what exactly are you planning to do by busting in like this?"

Han Shuo did not answer, and the silver dragon roared again, looking rather impatient.

The two titans closest to Han Shuo looked him up and down as they slowly approached, as if they were ready to turn him into meat paste at a moment's notice if he said anything against their interests.

"Huh? Why are you here?" A sudden cry of surprise came from a golden dragon in the distance, and a dragon that had been positioned far away from him quickly flew over to look at Han Shuo in astonishment.

"You... you're Cedric?" Han Shuo asked, staring at the golden dragon with a similar expression as it seemed to be the same golden dragon Cedric he had met a few times before.

"It's me, Cedric, don't you remember?" It really was Cedric. He gasped in surprise.

There were more than twenty dragons in the valley, and none of them had taken human form as their huge bodies coiled. Half of them were golden dragons. Cedric had not assumed human form, and in the wave of dragons, there was nothing to distinguish him from the rest.

Realising this, Han Shuo looked around the valley once more and finally recognised this place as the Dragon Valley he had heard of in the legends. Han Shuo heaved a sigh of relief when he ran into this acquaintance of his and said, "So it's you, Cedric. Hahaha, it's been a while. I'm just here to explore. I heard the explosions in the sky and was drawn here out of curiosity. I never expected to see such an impressive sight. What exactly is going on?"

"Cedric, do you know this human?" the silver giant dragon who had tasted Han Shuo's wrath asked in confusion as he looked at Cedric strangely.

"This is the person I mentioned earlier, the one who intervened when that thief stole my treasure and even injured me. He helped me when I needed it. And the other time, in the forbidden land, it was he who broke through the Eternal Barrier. We're friends, there will be no problems," Cedric told the silver dragon.

At his words, the two titans who had been crowding around cautiously, as well as the silver dragon, no longer looked at Han Shuo with hostility, although the silver dragon still let out a derisive snort and said, "Now that the battle has entered a critical stage, he is not allowed to enter the space-time discontinuum zone, no matter who he is."

"I understand," Cedric replied, then said to Han Shuo, "We are fighting for the safety of the Profound Continent. There are some evil extraplanar beings who are trying to infiltrate our world through this particular space-time discontinuity zone. My dragon race and the titan race are doing all they can to resist these evil beings from another dimension."

After much close observation, Han Shuo knew the gist of what was going on even without Cedric elaborating. The self-proclaimed defenders of the continent, the Titans and the Dragons, were doing everything in their power to protect the realm. Even from a distance, Han Shuo could see the intensity of the battle.

The look on each Titan and Dragon's face showed just how cruel and relentless this battle had been. Each appeared more solemn and subdued than the last, a look of fear in their eyes.

In such critical times, any outside force would be enough to tip the scales in favour of the other side. It was clear to them that they had barricaded the area to prevent any unknown forces from interfering.

"This is bad, Valile can't hold out much longer," a green dragon shouted.

Following the gaze of the crowd, Han Shuo noticed that the golden dragon, the only being guarding one of the seven doors that was not a demigod, was swaying in a barrage of light and electricity. Blood poured from its body and it was clearly on its last legs.

There was only sadness in the eyes of all the dragons in the valley as they mourned the imminent death of their brethren.

"Next, get ready," sighed the aged voice of the Primordius dragon, his voice melancholy and resigned. It sounded as if he could not bear the sorrow of a deathly parting.

"I will go!" the silver dragon, who had been pursued by Han Shuo all the way there, shouted with the air of one who did not fear death.

Before the silver dragon could move, a titan over thirty metres tall shouted, "Your strength is not enough. You dragons have already sacrificed one of yours, now it is our turn".

This titan appeared to be the largest and most powerful of them all. As his thunderous voice called out, he was already moving. The ground trembled with each stride. He was fast, shooting forward like a bolt of lightning.

The golden dragon's body finally gave way, segmented and shattered into pieces that rained down into the unknown space-time discontinuum. As quickly as the dragon fell, the titan rose to take its place, finally reaching the door.

At that moment, an incredible turn of events took place. It was uncertain if the door had grown larger or if the Titan had simply shrunk, but the Titan, who could not normally fit through the door, looked as if his body was being stretched and twisted, blending into the door like a piece of abstract art.

Immediately after the Titan entered, the door that had been growing in size suddenly returned to its original size. From what Han Shuo could see, after the Titan had arrived at this world where rays of light were constantly shining, he found himself in a battle with some sort of being that was completely invisible, throwing punches and kicks to try and hit him.

Han Shuo tried to concentrate but still could not see what exactly was going on. All he could see were the flying rays of light. His consciousness could not sense any trace of the strange creature's existence. He concluded that this region of space did not follow the conventions of natural law.

Cedric had told Han Shuo that this area was some kind of space-time discontinuity zone and that bizarre phenomena often happened in such places. Han Shuo began to understand.

In reality, the titan remained within Han Shuo's field of vision, but in the space-time discontinuity zone, he might have been at an incredibly great distance from the Profound Continent. Han Shuo's consciousness could only stretch so far due to its limited range, so there was no way he could have sensed what was going on there.

"The third, who knows how many more we'll need..." A deep sigh came from an older green dragon.

Han Shuo felt pity as he watched the titan burst through the door, knowing full well that there would be no return. There wasn't much difference between the titan and the golden dragon that had just died. In fact, the Titan was slightly weaker. Its fate was sealed; the golden dragon had not lasted long before it was torn apart, and this titan would probably suffer the same fate.

Han Shuo had a great deal of respect for the Titans, as this Titan had knowingly rushed to his death, just as the rest of them were willing to do, sacrificing themselves for the safety of the hundreds of millions of beings that lived on the Profound Continent. These titans and dragons alike gave their lives as a noble sacrifice for the people. Han Shuo was humbled by their spirit.

Despite the proud and arrogant nature of the dragons, their most admirable aspects shone like the sun in this battle. Without their silent protection, there is no telling what would have become of the Profound Continent.

"Cedric, what on earth is going on?" asked Han Shuo. A surge of curiosity rushed through his mind, what could be behind those doors?

"This space-time discontinuity zone has existed in the depths of the Dark Forest for millennia. We don't know how or why it formed, but it is constantly changing with time and space. It often forms passageways that connect the Profound Continent to other planes of existence. The Dragons and Titans have always protected this place from any outside threat.

"From the moment of my birth some two thousand years ago, hundreds of space-time discontinuities have occurred. Most of them formed interplanar passages leading to harmless vast expanses of space, but of course there were a few times when they connected to other material planes of existence, but these connections never caused too much conflict. Only on three occasions did we encounter attacks from powerful alien beings, but these were easily repelled.

"I am not sure how it happened, but this time the space-time discontinuity formed right at the heart of the Abyss where the demons reside. These powerful demons sensed the formation of these passageways and found their way here. At first, only the weaker demons tried to force their way in, but they were quickly repelled.

"We originally thought it would be like our previous encounters and didn't think much of it. However, we did not expect more and more demons to start attacking, and yesterday we finally understood how bad the situation was when even stronger demons joined in. We immediately notified experts from across the continent, hoping they would join us in our defence.

"However, due to our previous complacency, the messages were sent a little too late. Only two demigod existences of the orc race, who happened to be training deep in the Dark Forest, joined the resistance. But this time, a total of seven interplanar passages have been formed. These demons are so powerful that only demigods have a chance of stopping them, and we only have six. The last gate has to be guarded alternately, and both sides have lost a total of three of our numbers.

"The Primordial Dragon has to use his divine power to alter the formation of the space-time discontinuity zone and can't spare any energy to deal with this door, and because of the unique formation of each interplanar passageway, we can only send one being at a time to defend it. At this rate, we don't know how many more we'll have to sacrifice before we can deal with this invasion.

"Don't even talk about settling it, we don't even know if we can hold them off. Look, the demigods are showing signs of fatigue. If the Primordial Dragon can't alter or seal the space-time discontinuity zone soon, I'm afraid the Profound Continent will face an apocalyptic attack from the Demons of the Abyss," the Silver Dragon replied. He shook his head with a grim expression on his face.

Boom! A sound like thunder came from the passage the Titan had just entered.

Inside the passageway, multicoloured streaks of light shone like the most stunning fireworks shooting up into the sky. It was a sublime beauty. The titan who had just entered the fray seemed to have been taken by surprise, and it was unclear what exactly had happened, but the next wound in his flesh burst open and blood rained down as before.

"A high-level demon has joined the fight in the passage. Damn it, it looks like the Profound Continent really won't be able to avoid this disaster." The Primordial Dragon sighed bitterly. Rays of light intertwined as divine power enveloped the space-time discontinuity zone. It seemed as if it was ready to make one last attempt.

"This is terrible, what are we going to do?" Cedric was frantic, his huge head shaking in disbelief.

Cedric suddenly shouted and his fist-sized dragon eye fell on Han Shuo as he exclaimed in delight, "Great Primordial Dragon, he, he is a demigod expert!"

With these words, the attention of every Titan and Dragon in the valley turned to Han Shuo.

It looks like I'm going to have a chance to be the saviour of the Profound Continent, Han Shuo thought. He was about to ask the Primordial Dragon for his opinion, but suddenly he heard another loud roar. He turned to the source of the noise and saw that the titan who had just entered the fray was covered in gashes across his flesh, and rivulets of blood spilled into the passageway into an unknown space.

Han Shuo was already curious to see what lay beyond this door, and he also knew that if the challenge became too great, he could always retreat. He leapt through the doorway at lightning speed and into the unknown alien space.

The moment he entered, he was overwhelmed by the scene he saw.
