At the call of the skeleton staff, waves of undead creatures densely filled Han Shuo's surroundings. Holding Phoebe in one hand and the skeletal staff in the other, Han Shuo quickly chanted incantations.
"Retreat!" Crespo gave the order firmly, taking the lead in the retreat.
When Aubrey, who was in charge of the current operation, saw Han Shuo suddenly appear at Phoebe's side, he knew immediately that they had failed once again. As groups of undead creatures began to appear, he had also considered retreating. Crespo's call to retreat matched his intentions and he also began to flee to the rear.
"You want to run? It's too late!" Han Shuo released Phoebe's hand that he had been holding tightly and suddenly flew towards Aubrey. He held the Skeleton Staff in his left hand as before, while the Demonslayer Edge shot out from his right palm.
Aubrey had already suffered great losses to Han Shuo before. When he saw Han Shuo charging directly at him, his expression changed instantly. He hastily shouted to the archers on the surrounding rooftops, "Shoot him down!"
A rain of arrows shot towards Han Shuo, the power and speed of the arrows indicating that the strength of these archers was out of the ordinary. However, before the rain of arrows could reach Han Shuo, Han Shuo's skeletal staff shook, causing several towering bone shields to appear in all directions, blocking the entire rain of arrows.
Han Shuo's speed was beyond Aubrey's imagination. When Aubrey turned his head to take a look, the cold and vicious Han Shuo was actually only a short distance away from him.
"Be careful!" Crespo suddenly shouted loudly, the silver spear in his hand thrusting towards Han Shuo at high speed like a drill. Han Shuo turned his head to look at Crespo before raising his right hand. The Demonslayer's Edge turned into a flash of black light and stabbed towards the spear tip with a sizzling sound.
"Clang!"
A magnificent radiance blossomed. Crespo only felt an enormous force rush into his body through the spear, rushing from his arm into his five entrails and six bowels, causing severe wounds to his divine body in an instant. He couldn't help but spit out a mouthful of blood, his complexion turning pale as he continued to retreat.
"Dong!" Crespo's silver spear had indeed split in two as it fell to the stone floor.
The inordinate power of the Demonslayer's edge didn't diminish as it continued like a shadow towards Crespo's chest. Before Crespo could get to his feet, there was only a "puu" sound as the Demonslayer's Edge pierced Crespo's silver armour, cutting a large hole in his chest.
As a piercing pain radiated from his chest, Crespo's pale face was filled with despair as he gazed dazedly at the hole in his chest. With a last "How is this possible?" he collapsed loudly.
Aubrey was terrified, and recklessly fled into the distance, no longer caring for the lives of the others.
Crespo was the main support for this operation. He was a Sky Rider and, having joined the Templar Knights of the Church of Light, his devotion to the God of Light had given him extra divine protection and made him much stronger than an ordinary Sky Rider.
The silver spear and his shiny silver armour were both items that only high-ranking Templar Knights possessed. They were both of the highest quality in the eyes of all the continent's blacksmiths. Both the spear and the armour contained divine energy. Who would have thought that under the attack of this weapon, they would shatter like papier-mâché, leaving Aubrey trembling with fear.
Aubrey, who fled with all his might, obviously didn't realise that Han Shuo's speed was far superior to his own. Before Aubrey could even leave the area of influence of the Boozt Merchant Guild, a cold scream was heard behind him. Shocked, Aubrey ignored everything and began to use the teleportation spell he had not yet mastered.
As a space archmage, Aubrey's understanding of space magic could only be described as a drop in the ocean. He was unable to teleport short distances at will, unlike Space Grand Mages like Emma.
However, Aubrey had no choice in the current situation. He knew in his heart that he was no match for Han Shuo. With no hope of escape through speed, he could only face death and use the space magic he had yet to master.
When people were in dire straits, they would always burst forth with some latent potential. Aubrey, who usually needed two seconds to cast a spell, only needed one second to cast the unlearned spell. Before Han Shuo approached Aubrey, he suddenly felt violent spatial fluctuations from Aubrey's surroundings.
The space suddenly shattered like a mirror. Aubrey was horrified and howled miserably. His body seemed to be in the broken space, split into several fragments. When the space returned to normal, Aubrey had disappeared without a trace. Han Shuo stood motionless, worried about the space magic. The effect of recklessly using unfamiliar magic would sometimes be much more powerful than standard space magic. Aubrey was clearly in such a situation. When Han Shuo saw Aubrey's body split along with the space around him, he assumed that there must have been a problem with the spell and that Aubrey had thrown his life away with it.
If Han Shuo had suddenly entered that area before it had returned to normal, he would most likely be affected by the spell and unable to escape. On the off chance that he ended up in an alternate space, Han Shuo would really feel like crying.
Aubrey's status was unknown, but Han Shuo felt that he was most likely dead. Without wasting any more time, Han Shuo immediately went to Phoebe's side, grabbed her again and said hastily, "We should go first. I think Lawrence's location would be the most dangerous!"
Phoebe was startled yet happy, startled when she heard Han Shuo describe Lawrence's danger. She knew that Lawrence was the most important person. For Ashburn to dare to attack her so brazenly, Lawrence was probably in deep trouble as well.
If Lawrence were to be killed, Elder Prince Charles and Duke Ashburn would truly be in control of the situation. If that happened, the only option left for Han Shuo and herself would be to escape.
Her happiness stemmed from the fact that Han Shuo clearly knew that Lawrence was in greater danger, but he still prioritised her rescue. This clearly proved that her importance to Han Shuo was above all else. Even though Lawrence's survival would bring Han Shuo greater power and benefits, Han Shuo had still come to rescue her first in such an important situation. Phoebe was truly touched by this.
"What about them?" Phoebe immediately agreed, but asked about the guards and the few merchants from the Boozt Merchant Guild beside her.
"Let them escape on their own. Don't worry, the remaining enemies will face my undead creatures. They simply have no chance to attack them again." Han Shuo hastily instructed.
"Miss, you two should go first. We know what to do." The guard leader hurriedly said to Phoebe.
Phoebe hesitated for a moment before nodding and saying, "Alright then. Take care of yourselves. Leave this place quickly."
Han Shuo wasted no words, grabbing Phoebe by the waist and flying directly towards Lawrence's mansion.
"Bastard, how could you do this in public?" As Phoebe was grabbed by the waist, she smelled Han Shuo's familiar scent. Her delicate and beautiful face was red with blush as she scolded him angrily.
"What do you care? Anyway, everyone knows that you are my woman." Han Shuo replied casually, obviously not embarrassed at all.
"You, you still dare to say that. I haven't forgiven you!" Phoebe rolled her eyes hatefully at Han Shuo, her residual anger not yet faded.
"We'll talk about this later. Don't talk anymore, we need to find Lawrence quickly. If Lawrence is indeed dead, I will get you out of Ossen City immediately and return to my Brettel City as fast as I can." Han Shuo replied.
"Bryan, it seems like you don't care about Lawrence's life or death. Is that true?" Phoebe looked at Han Shuo with some uncertainty.
"No. I'm just being realistic and stating the facts. If I didn't care about Lawrence's fate, I wouldn't be trying to save him now. Alright, no more talk!" Han Shuo replied casually before suddenly picking up speed and heading towards Lawrence's mansion like a bolt of lightning.
Ever since Han Shuo knew that Lawrence had deliberately befriended him with ulterior motives, he had stopped treating Lawrence as a true friend. Lawrence, who thought deeply and planned everything carefully, had only acted for his own interests. Han Shuo understood this and felt no resentment towards Lawrence's actions.
However, it was also impossible for Han Shuo not to have ill feelings! Han Shuo's interests were firmly tied to Lawrence. It was only when Lawrence ascended the throne that Han Shuo would be able to reap the most benefits. Although this relationship was based purely on benefits, it wouldn't involve too many personal feelings.
It can only be said that Han Shuo went to help Lawrence out of his own interest, not because of any personal relationship between them. Therefore, Han Shuo didn't have much feelings about Lawrence's life or death. That was why he had an apathetic look on his face when he talked about Lawrence's situation.
Even before they reached Lawrence's mansion, towering flames could be seen from afar, illuminating the moonless night. The fire from Lawrence's mansion was really too conspicuous.
There were also mansions of other nobles in the vicinity of Lawrence's mansion. However, these mansions were untouched, the gates tightly shut without a single person coming out to take a look, as if they had suddenly gone blind and deaf, ignoring the sound of activity coming from Lawrence's mansion. Everyone seemed to have fallen into a deep sleep.
As Han Shuo glanced at the strangely silent mansions, the Mystical Demons had made a loop at a high altitude, suddenly realising that the people in these seemingly silent mansions were also losing their heads in fear. However, under the strict orders of their owners, no one dared to make a sound, and no one was curious enough to leave the mansion to take a look.
This was the best example of the world's hypocrisy. The nobles in these mansions were not Lawrence's closest allies. Most of them had not yet indicated which side they supported, and so fortunately escaped disaster. The older nobles all knew what they were doing and realised that the only people in the entire Lancelot Empire who dared to attack Lawrence's residence were Ashburn and Eldest Prince Charles. They were not people these nobles could take on, and so standing by was the most sensible decision.
"Rumble..."
A huge bang could be heard from within Lawrence's mansion. From a distance, Han Shuo saw many tall buildings collapse with a loud crash. In the dark sky, two golden figures were extremely bright as they soared above several buildings without restraint. Golden light would frequently flash out, causing another building to collapse.
Narrow canyons would appear after the flashes of golden light. The magical barriers surrounding Lawrence's entire residence were constantly being destroyed, and many servants were killed one by one, their bodies lying in disarray.
Several knights in brown, silver and grey armour, as well as several mages in white, red and black, surrounded Lawrence's mansion from all directions. These people included experts under Ashburn, experts under Eldest Prince Charles and experts sent by the Church of Light.
By the time Han Shuo and Phoebe had almost reached the area, a mystical demon had finally approached and suddenly spotted the two figures that had been flying unhindered. One of them was actually the Sacred Swordmaster Karel, while the other was a Golden-haired Elder wearing a golden knight's armour.
The golden-haired elder held a golden pike, and on the breastplate of his golden armour was a symbol of an angel. The angel's design was extremely lifelike, and its wings seemed to be constantly flapping.
The angel engraved on the Templar's chest was a symbol that he had been blessed by the God of Light. Any Templar who possessed the angel engraving had terrifying powers comparable to those of the Sacred Knights. If the Temple Knight was a Sacred Knight himself, his power would be even more terrifying.
However, such Temple Knights were extremely rare within the Church of Light. Under normal circumstances, they would never leave the Temple of Light. It was said that only when evil heretics who blasphemed the God of Light appeared, would these rarely seen Temple Knights leave the Temple of Light to punish these heretics on behalf of the God of Light.
Han Shuo had never expected to see one within the Lancelot Empire and was shocked to the core. As strands of golden light flowed from the golden pike in the Temple Knight's hand, an incomparable holy aura spread, giving Han Shuo an extremely uncomfortable feeling.
Only Sacred Knights and Sacred Sword Masters possessed golden combat aura. For this temple knight to be able to unleash the Golden combat Aura, it proved that he was a Sacred Knight. If such a formidable being received the blessing of the God of Light, his terrifying personal power would be shocking. Han Shuo took one look and already began to secretly worry about the Sacred Swordmaster Karel.
With so many experts besieging Lawrence's mansion, Han Shuo wouldn't stupidly rush in. He hastily summoned the Earth Zombie to create a tunnel leading to the centre of Lawrence's mansion, before bringing Phoebe along and entering the tunnel.
