"What-what is that?!" Fire Grand Magus Marceau shouted as she was shocked by the sudden appearance of the Fire Elite Zombie.
After swallowing the flames, the big-headed Fire Elite Zombie grinned at Marceau, then opened its mouth and spat them all out. The fire serpents were no longer under Marceau's control and actually turned back to attack the adventurers.
The low-level undead in the area all instinctively retreated in the face of the intense heat. Jumping flames in the shape of lotus petals seemed to burn continuously on the Fire Elite Zombie's frame. Its deep red armour shot red light everywhere. If the skeletal warriors were hit by even a small spark from it, they were instantly destroyed and turned to dust.
The fire serpents that the Fire Elite Zombie spat out were even more powerful. Not only did it force the adventurers to constantly duck and weave, it also forced the undead creatures to retreat. The Evil Knights and the Hate Warriors also felt threatened by this, and quickly left their retreat to escape the flames.
"Idiot, you can't even tell our people from the enemy!" Han Shuo scolded quietly, then gave another order to the Earth Elite Zombie and the Wood Elite Zombie.
The earth trembled and rumbled beneath the three swordsmen as sharp earthen spikes shot out again. The large tree branches danced madly in the distance as the branches became life-destroying arrows that shot towards the adventurers.
The fire elite zombie charged towards the three swordsmen like a huge firebrand, creating waves of intense flames in front of them. The swordsmen's bodies quickly began to burn as soon as a spark stuck to them.
The evil knight held a large bone spike in his hand and threw it towards the sky. The priest and the mages were busy dealing with the attacks from the branches and were unable to avoid the path of the evil knight's giant bone spike. Han Shuo also unleashed the Demonslayer Edge as arrows filled the sky.
A pitiful howl suddenly rang through the sky, then stopped. The lives of all the adventurers, except Marceau's, had ended in a few breaths.
Marceau glared at Han Shuo with hatred as she gasped for breath. Realising that all of her companions had died, she took out a scroll and began to chant a long spell.
Intense magical impulses travelled from the scroll. The space in front of Marceau began to distort until a long, sharp blade formed in the sky. The terrifying spatial movement gathered a dense amount of magical element, causing rays of blinding light to shoot everywhere.
"Not good, this is the 'Spatial Edge'!" A thought flashed through Han Shuo's mind, causing him to suddenly remember the terrifying and forbidden spatial spell 'Spatial Edge'. Stunned, he immediately cast spells to send the undead creatures back to the other dimension as he tried to escape the spell's area of effect.
"Spatial Edge was a forbidden spell within the realm of Space. Legend had it that it could cut through anything, no matter how solid. Han Shuo had never thought that Marceau possessed a precious scroll of such a forbidden spell. The moment he felt a long, giant blade twisting out of space, he immediately retreated at all costs.
A flash of white light about twenty metres long sliced down from the sky. All the hard rocks it passed through, including the black armour of the evil knights that was comparable to metal ore, were neatly sliced in half like a piece of tofu. Even towering trees over ten metres high were snapped as the white light blazed past. A bottomless chasm also opened up in the ground.
Nearly a hundred undead creatures were sliced and diced by the light, shattering completely as it passed over them.
Marceau still held the scroll in her hands and continued to chant the long incantation. Once again, she used the precious forbidden scroll to unleash three beams of white light over ten metres in length. Wherever the white light passed, more undead creatures were destroyed.
Of these, one of the rays of white light instantly sliced towards Han Shuo as it caught up with him from the air. This spatial edge was as fast as lightning and was on top of Han Shuo in an instant. Marceau was determined to eliminate Han Shuo, so she focused all her attention on this spatial edge. As a result, this spatial edge was not only fast, but also accurate, as if it didn't want to give Han Shuo a chance to escape.
Using the speed of the Demonic Ninth Heaven Art, Han Shuo retreated towards the dense forest behind. As he did so, he kept changing directions, trying to avoid the spatial edge. However, under Marceau's command, the Edge was actually following him like a shadow, chasing after Han Shuo no matter how he moved. It seemed as if it would not stop unless it tore Han Shuo apart.
Han Shuo swore silently in his heart and then headed into a swamp. He flew back out as a muddy man with a swaying body, venturing even further into the depths.
Pfft!
The spatial edge sliced down, slicing the muddy Han Shuo in half, then plunged deeper into the ground without any decrease in power. It once again created a huge, bottomless trench.
"Hmm, he finally died!" Marceau sighed as she breathed heavily, then looked at the scroll that had used up all of its magic. She muttered heartbroken, "Ai, he really is someone hard to deal with, making me waste such a valuable scroll!"
Just as Marceau turned her attention to the magic scroll in her hands, a mud-covered figure moved in the deep trench of mud and water.
A cold light suddenly flashed by and pierced Marceau's body. The intense pain caused Marceau to be slightly confused, but then she saw a figure move in front of her in the mud, revealing Han Shuo as the mud was shaken off.
"I wasted another Yin Demon. This spatial edge is so powerful. It even tore apart the invisible and shapeless Yin Demon!" Han Shuo said heartbroken as he flew towards Marceau. He stripped her and the other adventurers of all their equipment and space rings and placed them in his own space ring.
When he arrived in front of Marceau, Han Shuo put down her staff and took her space ring without hesitation. The fact that Marceau possessed a forbidden magic scroll meant that she must have been a filthy rich person. A Fire Grand Magus could easily gain prestige and wealth along with a noble rank in any country. Marceau was, of course, no exception in the Brut Merchant Alliance.
The ground was littered with shattered bones and flesh. The vast majority of the undead creatures Han Shuo had summoned had been torn apart by the edges of the spatial. On the other hand, the Fire, Earth, and Wood Elite Zombies had been the first to be sent into the other dimension, protecting them from the Spatial Edge's attacks.
The undead knew no fear. Those that were still alive still stood there, waiting for Han Shuo's next order. Han Shuo looked at the scene below him as he held Marceau's space ring. Then he took out his skeleton staff to send the undead creatures back to the other dimension.
Having done so, Han Shuo raised his head and looked around. He discovered that thanks to the forbidden spatial boundary spell, there were huge ditches within a radius of one thousand five hundred metres. Tall trees and boulders had all been hacked to pieces. It was truly a mess.
It was unknown whether it was due to Marceau's lack of mental power or the lack of stored magic in the scroll, but the Spatial Edge spell had only released thirty percent of its true power. If it had released all of its power, there would have been at least twenty or more flashes of light, and the number might even increase depending on the mental strength of the caster.
If it was cast by a powerful Sacred Space Magus, just about every living creature and plant in a small city would be torn to shreds by the spell, as it had a terrifyingly wide area of effect.
As Han Shuo held the space ring that Marceau had left behind after her death, he wondered about the method of opening it as he casually flew towards the Cemetery of Death.
During this process, Han Shuo used his remaining Yin Demon to find out that a team of about five thousand was stationed outside the Dark Forest. Han Shuo surveyed this team of five thousand and realised that they were actually a real troop of knights who had come from the Brut Merchant Alliance. Some of the tents were blocked by magical boundaries as they faintly radiated a powerful aura.
Han Shuo frowned slightly. After studying them for a while, he thought of Marceau and the adventurers who had died at his hand, and suddenly felt that they were with these people.
Marceau was someone from the Brut Merchant Alliance. The three swordsmen in the adventures had the same sword and shield pattern on their left shoulders as these resting knights. This meant that they must have come from this troop.
The Brut Merchant Alliance was some distance from the Dark Forest. After passing through the Dark Forest, they would arrive directly at Zajoski City in the southwest of the Lancelot Empire. The knights had good equipment, fine warhorses, and some even more powerful experts. It was unknown why they had appeared in the Dark Forest.
After looking around for a while, Han Shuo was silently shocked by this troop. He noticed that their power was even stronger than when they'd first appeared. The magical impulses coming from the central tent were intense, and some strange sounds were faintly emanating from it. After releasing his consciousness, Han Shuo still felt that something was wrong inside. After thinking about it, he decided to see what these people were up to.
