"Damn it!" Deborah cursed in a low voice. She had clearly sensed that something was wrong and had immediately retreated to her room. She was actually very quick, despite her short and fat stature. She wanted to hide in her room to prevent the attacks of the dark creatures.
She unleashed a high-level water ice spell, creating a white mist that covered a large area. A crystal clear wall of ice sealed the door and emitted white mist under the sunlight.
The evil knight spurred his warhorse forward, holding a bone spear larger than his body as he charged. He raised the bone spear and stabbed violently at the ice wall.
Clang!
Miraculously, the ice wall condensed by the ice spell actually had great defensive capabilities. The huge bone spear had created such a huge impact when it collided with the ice wall, but it could only drill a small hole. It couldn't break through the defences of the ice wall.
"Ice Blade Slash!" Deborah's cry echoed through the room.
A cold wind howled as snow fell across the sky. Blades of ice spun as they shot towards the dark creatures occupying the courtyard. The low-level skeletal warriors couldn't withstand the ice blades, their bones scattering to the ground. Even the flying gargoyles fell one by one under the ice blades' attack.
However, higher-ranked creatures such as the zombie warriors and hate warriors still stood firm after being hit by the ice blades. The group slowly moved towards the room where Deborah was, joining forces with the evil knight and attacking the ice wall.
Han Shuo smiled coldly as he stood proudly in the courtyard under the canopy of necromancy. He leisurely watched the battle between the dark creatures and Deborah, secretly rejoicing in the most appropriate use of necromancy magic.
Clang!
The ice wall finally shattered under the violent thrust of the bone lance in the evil knight's hand. He and his warhorse charged into Deborah's room. Two hate warriors and several zombie warriors followed, immediately surrounding the room.
"I surrender, I surrender!" Deborah cried out in horror.
As the evil knight shattered the ice wall and charged into the room with his necromancy troops, Deborah knew that defeat was near. Instinctively terrified by the fierce, heartless eyes of the evil knight, she screamed in a desperate attempt to save her poor life.
Whoosh whoosh whoosh whoosh!
A dozen bone spears hurtled through the windows, two of which ambushed Deborah from behind. Deborah had yet to react as they pierced her plump body and pushed her towards the evil knight.
The evil knight raised his huge bone lance. As the lance fell, Deborah's head also went flying. A stream of blood spurted out and fell on a smoking green potion, causing it to explode.
"Murder, murder!" The guard who had led Han Shuo in earlier was instantly horrified when he realised from Deborah's tragic scream that she must have been killed. He shouted loudly as he ran to the back courtyard. Through the Yin Demons' surveillance, Han Shuo noticed troops approaching quickly in the distance. Since his target, Deborah, had been dealt with, Han Shuo wasted no time. He immediately sent the necromancy creatures back and cut off the mental power that had been used to maintain the canopy of necromancy before using his levitation skills to leave the courtyard.
Over the next five days, Han Shuo used the transportation matrices to visit various cities and towns in the Empire, challenging powerful people. Not only did he win every fight, he killed his opponents on the spot. His infamy quickly spread throughout the empire.
Han Shuo's identity slowly became known among the ranks of the powerful in the Empire, thanks to Candide's deliberate spreading of the news. Many nobles heard the story of this powerful young man and expressed a strong interest in him.
In a heavily guarded, luxurious hall in Lancelot's Imperial Palace, His Majesty the King, Uhtred Lancelot, wearing a loose robe, sat on his throne as if waiting for something.
Uhtred was nearly sixty years old, and his body had grown weaker as a result of his dissipated youth. He looked thin, despite his large bones, and his hair was still black and lustrous, thanks to the use of special potions. It was a shame that his complexion didn't look as good.
"Your Majesty, Lord Candide has arrived!" A guard suddenly entered and quietly announced.
This guard was dressed in shining armour, his expression cold and calm. His whole body exuded the air of a top expert. From the insignia on his armour, it could be seen that he was a powerful sky rider.
"Let him in!" Uhtred ordered in a calm tone when he heard of Candide's arrival.
After a while, Candide came in respectfully with his darkened face and said in a low tone, "Candide greets Your Majesty!"
"Sit down. I have heard that one of your subordinates is a child who has become very famous in the last two days. What's going on?" Uhtred looked at Candide and asked casually.
"His name is Bryan, and he was indeed recruited by me. The boy's strength is extraordinary and his mind is mature. He hasn't been a member of the Dark Mantle for long, but he's already helped with several important events. Oh, he also brought back Ayermike Cotton's notebook from the Dark Forest. He's truly a rare genius. Candide explained respectfully after sitting down.
"So he's Bryan, hehe, interesting, interesting. I remember that only yesterday the Red Archbishop Kosse of the Church of Light sent people to ask for Bryan. I didn't expect to hear from him today. Candide ah Candide, isn't this a bit of a coincidence?" Uhtred spoke in a pleasant voice, as if he were reminiscing with an old friend.
Candide was secretly shocked and hastened to explain: "Your Majesty, please forgive this insult. It was arranged by me with the intention of tying up a few loose ends that were inimical to the peace of the kingdom. Bryan's strength is extraordinary. Not only has he passed the Archmage Test of the Magic Association, but he has also mastered a special cultivation technique. The Empire needs a young, rare genius like him.
Uhtred looked at Candide and snorted coldly, "Candide, do you think this boy is worthy of worsening our relations with the Church of Light?"
"I think he is! Bryan is only eighteen this year. He entered the Babylon Academy of Magic and Strength, and in less than two years he went from apprentice mage to Archmage Necromancer. His skills are excellent. The future of such a person is limitless.
"It's just that he practices necromancy magic and has mastered some knowledge that is disadvantageous to the Church of Light, so they have deliberately acted against him. There was a Grand Magus of Light called Ferguson in the Valley of Sunshine. Bryan ended up killing him and earning their wrath."
"Being able to kill a Light Grand Magus already proves his power. On the other hand, the most important point is that Bryan is still very young, so his future development is limitless. I don't think you should let such a talented person go. It's worth it, even if we have to offend the Church of Light! Candide replied respectfully.
Uhtred's eyes flashed as he heard Candide's rant. He straightened slightly and looked at Candide, "From apprentice to Archmage Necromancer in less than two years, and able to kill a Grand Magus of Light? Candide, are you sure this is all true?"
"Your Majesty, you also know that my wife is the Dean of the Babylonian Academy of Magic and Strength, so I'm absolutely sure it's true. I gave him the order to challenge some notoriously powerful people because I originally doubted his strength. Now, with the information I've gathered, he does have the power.
"The rarest thing is that a genius like him actually has a very clean background. He has a strong sense of belonging to the Empire and is willing to serve the Empire. I believe that he will grow and perhaps even become another figure like Karel Ascot, as long as we give him the right amount of time. Oh yes, he's also the boyfriend of Phoebe, Karel Ascot's favourite pupil! Candide went on to explain.
"Oh, you say he has some sort of relationship with Karel Ascot?" Uhtred's face finally changed, surprised as he asked Candide.
"Yes. Not only that, he's also a good friend of His Royal Highness Lawrence. You know that His Highness studied military strategy at the Knight's Academy and is also a student of Karel Ascot. The relationship between Phoebe and Han Shuo is very good. Last time in Valen City, Han Shuo did the most to expose Bob Ascher's conspiracy. " Candide struck while the iron was hot when he saw Uhtred's surprise.
Uhtred fell silent as he listened to Candide. He thought for a moment before opening his mouth to speak, "Is that so? Then this Bryan is very interesting from what you've told me. Oh, I heard that the great swordmaster Leah Cain of the Brut Merchant Alliance has come to Ossen City. He's been quite arrogant these past few days. I have lost three experts of his level to him. If this Bryan is as powerful as you say, let him challenge Leah Cain. If he can defeat that guy to prove his talent, I will not only be willing to insult the Church of Light for him, but I can even give him a title of nobility."
"Huh! That mad swordsman Leah Cain was too notorious. He fled to our Lancelot Empire after insulting the Sacred Magus Reynold Dila in Brut. Such a despicable, cowardly fugitive dares to act so wildly? He seeks death!"
"Understood!" Candide was slightly horrified to hear that Uhtred wanted Bryan to challenge Leah Cain. He was silent for a moment, then secretly let out a long sigh of resignation.
