Chapter 212 - CHAPTER 212: Slaughter

"What's going on, what's going on? I can't see anything!"

"Someone's attacking me, what's going on in this courtyard?"

"Everyone be careful, this is the most sinister place in the Valley of Sunshine. It must be the evil god's curse taking place!"

"Retreat, everyone leave the courtyard! No one can leave this place alive if the evil god's curse is in effect!"

Panicked cries rang out from the mouths of the Rainbow Sickle mercenaries who'd entered the courtyard. These people had all heard the legend of the shop, and when they saw the anomalies, they all tried to leave in a hurry.

However, by the time the formation had been activated, the first illusion formation had already taken effect. Aside from Emily and the others who were standing in safe zones, all the other mercenaries who had rashly entered the area couldn't see anything around them as the thick sense of death permeated the air.

Suddenly, several misty shadows shot from the well in the centre of the courtyard. Sensing the presence of living humans nearby, the kelpies began to attack the mercenaries without hesitation.

In an instant, the mercenaries felt their bodies grow cold, and it seemed as if something liquid had entered their bodies. Their minds were blurred and confused as a voice seemed to take control of them, forcing them to involuntarily walk to the well and jump in.

Three splashes echoed as the disoriented mercenaries fell into the well. The ice-cold water immediately restored their mental clarity, but their efforts to crawl out at all costs were thwarted. Their bodies were no longer under their control as they began to slowly sink into the depths.

Suddenly, three desperate cries rang out from the well. As their voices filled with terror and despair, the scalps of all the other mercenaries in the courtyard grew numb!

It was then that they finally realised that there were many unknown dangers in this courtyard. This flash of enlightenment caused them to abandon any further thoughts of aggression as they frantically tried to navigate the courtyard according to their memories, trying to leave this evil and dangerous place as quickly as possible.

But the modestly sized courtyard seemed to go on forever in every direction. They retreated according to their memories, and their speed should have taken them out of this area long ago, but they never seemed to find its end, and cries of agony rang out in their ears.

The illusion suddenly changed as another of them appeared before them. Wielding sharp weapons and glaring at them, these apparitions mercilessly attacked the real one, and the fear that this phenomenon caused in them instantly destroyed their willpower and completely weakened their fighting spirit.

Screams of fear and helpless sobbing echoed as all the mercenaries sank into a state of frenzied violence, waving their weapons around at random. Even the most stout-hearted mercenary found it hard to accept a double attack, and they were all equally frightened, lashing out at anything and everything.

As a result, all the Rainbow Sickle mercenaries who had entered the courtyard went mad in a matter of moments. They fought each other feverishly as cries of insanity, fear, pain and the clash of weapons echoed from every corner of the courtyard.

Emily and the others in the safe zones had their sight impaired by where they were, so they couldn't see what was going on in the courtyard. However, the various sounds and screams of those trapped inside allowed them to understand that the Rainbow Sickle mercenaries were in a situation that would be hard to forget for the rest of their lives.

Whenever a scream was suddenly cut off, it meant that another life had been lost. They would then see another wisp of grey sucked into the shura columns beside them. As each soul disappeared, the souls that inhabited the shura columns would add more evil power to the columns, making the wind in the courtyard howl more fiercely and spreading the presence of death more quickly.

Andy and the thundermage could do nothing but watch the changes in the courtyard. The dense Presence of Death obscured the sky, and apart from a blood-red beam rising into the sky from the centre, there was nothing else for their eyes to see.

Like Emily and the others, the cries of helplessness and despair rang in her ears. Unlike Emily and the others, Andy and the other mage felt their scalps go numb as their hearts pounded with fear. They didn't dare to cast fire and thunder spells randomly because they couldn't see the situation clearly. They could only stand anxiously on the roof and scratch their heads, trying to think of a more appropriate way to help.

Even though everyone's vision had been affected, the little skeleton stood in the centre of the courtyard, his purple eye glittering fiercely like an elegant gentleman. He walked at a leisurely pace, as if strolling through the ballroom, the bone dagger in his hand, his steps light. He strolled through the courtyard of madness with ease, walking alongside the mercenaries who brandished their blades at random.

He made a grasping motion with the bones of his left hand, creating bloody gashes in the mercenaries or simply twisting their necks. The bone dagger sparkled with cold light as it drew beautiful arcs, cutting off agonised screams and taking another life.

As the attacking mercenaries fell one by one, the great swordsman Gabriel had become the little skeleton's final target. Gabriel was much harder to deal with than he'd imagined. A silver combat aura filled the area around him as his eyebrows jumped up and down on his face. It was obvious that he too was feeling the effects of the formation, but he was in no hurry to attack his surroundings, instead concentrating on defending his area.

Because of this conservative approach, only the weakest attacks had come close to him. The mercenaries closest to him were all blocked by the combat aura, but these mercenaries were all busy killing each other or had been easily slaughtered by the little skeleton. Apart from the enormous drain on his combat aura, Gabriel hadn't suffered at all from the formation.

The little skeleton approached Gabriel, wanting to continue using the same simple method to harvest his life, but it wasn't that simple. Since Gabriel was of the opinion that he wasn't willing to give up any achievements as long as he could protect himself adequately, he had used his silver combat aura to form curtains around himself, defending himself thoroughly.

The little skeleton couldn't penetrate the great swordmaster's method either when he arrived. The little skeleton rubbed his head in frustration as he stood by Gabriel's side, his purple eye rolling around as he tried to figure out the best way to handle the situation.

"Who dares to ignore the presence of the Cairo mercenary band and attempt murder in the Valley of Sunshine!" Laureton's explosive roar crashed in from the distance like a great wave from the sea. Heavy hoofbeats echoed in the distance with his roar.

"This is bad, this Laurmonster is coming. We must retreat!" The thundermage on the roof suddenly said quietly.

"But Gabriel is still down there!" Andy also had a panicked look on his face as he looked down anxiously.

"No time for that. If we don't leave now, we won't be able to when Laurmonster gets here. But if you want to die so badly, I won't force you to go!" The Thundermage said coldly, without a glance at Andy. He used a levitation spell to lift himself up and flew off into the distance.

Andy looked blank for a moment and then shook his head in resignation. He stomped his foot and also used a levitation spell to float upwards, disappearing into the night behind the Thundermage.

When Andy and the Thundermage were gone, Edwin and Belinda left their posts in a large tree not far away and followed them silently.

At that moment, the six shura columns quickly sucked in the presence of death and evil winds in the courtyard. In a few moments, starlight shone down on the courtyard again. As the effects of the formation receded, all that remained was a ground littered with bodies and Gabriel, still waving his sword.

"Kill him!" Gilbert shouted, grabbing a battle axe from a nearby corpse and charging at Gabriel.

Phoebe and Trunks also knew that this was an unusual opportunity, as they also brandished their weapons and charged at Gabriel as fast as they could. Combining their efforts with the little skeleton, they unleashed a powerful attack on Gabriel.

Gabriel reacted very quickly once the effects of the formation had worn off. He took a quick look around and realised that his operations had failed completely this time. He moved without hesitation and jumped to the roof.

The attacks of Gilbert and the other arrived at this time, only to be met by a rock from the roof as Gabriel's longsword flickered with a silver flash of combat aura, hurling it into the path of the attacks coming at him from behind.

An explosion sounded as the flying battle-axe was stopped by the large rock. The bone dagger howled as it shattered the rock, threatening Gabriel directly. Gabriel swung his longsword in an arc, finally sending the little bone dagger flying to the side.

However, Trunks and Phoebe's combat auras also arrived in front of Gabriel at this time. A terrible scream escaped from his lips as his rapidly flying body suddenly stopped and a crisscrossing pattern of blades appeared on his back. It was obvious that he'd been badly injured. As he fled in panic, he spat out large mouthfuls of fresh blood.

Emily used the levitation spell to fly upwards and was about to cast a dark spell to deal him the final blow when a fierce arrow flew out of nowhere like a bolt of cold lightning. Its speed brought an icy chill that she felt before it even got close to her.

Emily choked halfway through her incantation and suddenly fell from the sky. The cold arrow, however, stubbornly stuck to her path and shot towards her neck like a deadly bolt of lightning, with a terrifying chill and ruthlessness.

There wasn't even time to cast a spell at that moment. Gilbert and the others were all in the courtyard and had just unleashed a vicious blow. Whether in terms of personal speed or combat aura, there was nothing anyone could do for Emily at this point.

The person who had unleashed this arrow had an exquisite sense of timing, knowing the right moment to strike. They'd fused ice magic into this arrow, and the speed and ferocity of this shot was one that terrified the onlookers.

Desperation filled her face, and all hope vanished at that moment. There was only one thought in her mind. Was this how she was going to die?

But nothing in life is ever absolute! At that moment of certain death, a red light ripped through the dark sky and appeared beside Emily, hitting the deadly arrow with undeniable accuracy.

The missile shattered on contact, the frosty air scattering as it could not concentrate in one place.

Emily had snatched her life back from the jaws of death, and the joy of life after death filled her heart. As she focused her eyes forward again, she saw the Demonslayer's Edge flying in front of her!

At that moment, an indescribable feeling of bliss filled her heart like a giant wave. At that moment, the love she had for Han Shuo was as deep as the boundless ocean.

"You won't be so lucky next time!" " A clear cry came from far away. A slender figure danced on some rooftops like a swan elegantly gliding on a lake.

Trunks and the others were furious as they all leapt up to land on the rooftops, planning to take down this extremely dangerous archer.

"Don't go after her!" Han Shuo's deep voice travelled from inside the house at this time.

The room door was open as a sinister looking Han Shuo stepped out. Blood red light emanated from his body as a thick killing aura condensed around him. His eyes were blood red and his expression was sinister and filled with the utmost cruelty. It was as if he was a demon from hell who had endured millennia to break his bonds and enter the human world!

Emily and the others were completely shocked by Han Shuo's current appearance and aura. Unconsciously, they stopped their steps and looked at the somewhat unfamiliar Han Shuo.

The current Han Shuo's presence and expression were far too malevolent. He was just too different!
