Chapter 157 - CHAPTER 157: Taking All The Soul's Memories

The white bone staff that had originally hovered over Han Shuo's head had at some point reversed directions and left his head to hover over the necromancer's instead. The terrified necromancer continued to cast spells and try to regain control of the staff, but nothing he did had any effect.

The Demonslayer's Edge suddenly flew out and stabbed the necromancer in the chest. Red spellfire suddenly flared above his head as Han Shuo sat cross-legged. It was his turn to chant in a low voice.

The Necromancer was burnt to a crisp in no time as his head was surrounded by red spellfire. His head was like a black cinder, and his features could no longer be made out.

A profound incantation rang out from Han Shuo's mouth. He waved his hand and the white bone staff suddenly shot out a green light that intertwined to form a net. The net of green light enveloped the Necromancer's head like a vortex sucking in something.

A cloud of grey aura suddenly floated out of the necromancer's body and was slowly held by the green net, as were the souls of the other dead in the area. The net and the white staff floated in front of Han Shuo.

The white staff suddenly flew into Han Shuo's hand as it reached him, while the green net was absorbed into Han Shuo's brain through his facial orifices, along with the soul within it.

Emily was completely stunned by this sequence of events. She had no idea what was happening. She couldn't understand why the previously cocky Necromancer had suddenly lost his soul to Han Shuo instead.

After the green web and the necromancer's soul were absorbed into Han Shuo's brain through his orifices, Han Shuo sat cross-legged and didn't move a muscle. However, his facial expression was constantly changing, at times joyful, at times angry, and at times pained.

As Han Shuo sat there without moving, the little skeleton that had been standing in a daze still seemed to be perplexed. He walked around with the bone dagger in his hand. When the little skeleton reached the centre where the altar was, his eyes suddenly landed on the pool of blood that had been used to summon Ansidesi.

"Leave this place!" Emily knew that the small skeleton had an inexplicable connection to Han Shuo. When she saw the little skeleton running to that dangerous place, she immediately spoke up to stop him.

That evil pool of blood in the centre of the altar had been formed by the corpses of countless merchant guards. The Necromancer had probably added a number of devious items as well. Emily feared that the evil in the pool would enter the small skeleton's body if it entered.

It was a pity that Emily was not Han Shuo. Her words had no effect on the little skeleton. In fact, her words had the opposite effect, as the little skeleton touched its smooth head and looked at Emily with some confusion before turning back to the pool. It turns around to jump into the pool.

"Oh, my goodness! Not only is the Master crazy , but so are the summoned creatures!" Emily went mad with fear and began to curse.

Emily walked towards the altar even though she was cursing, because she wanted to see how she could help the little skeleton. However, when she reached the altar and saw the little skeleton splashing around happily in the pool of blood, she actually felt the emotion of joy from the little skeleton, who was submerged up to his neck, playing like an innocent child.

"Eh, what about this little skeleton?" Emily didn't know what to say when she saw that the little skeleton was fine and that he seemed to be having a great time.

All the corpses that had landed in the pool earlier had seen their flesh and blood dissolve immediately and their bodies sink into the pool without a trace, but the little skeleton didn't seem to be affected at all after entering the pool. This took Emily by surprise. Thinking back to the first time she had met Han Shuo, and how the little skeleton had seemed to be immune to many of the dark magics that had chased her up and down the battlefield, Emily had to shake her head with a rueful smile. There were indeed some things she couldn't explain.

Suddenly, Emily's eyelashes fluttered rapidly as she looked at the pool of blood in confusion. On closer inspection, it appeared that the blood in the pool was slowly diminishing.

When Emily turned her attention back to the little skeleton, she noticed that the seven bone spurs on the back of the little skeleton were absorbing the blood from the pool. This strange phenomenon caused Emily to cry out in shock and mutter, "My God, what kind of demon has he summoned?!"

The blood in the pool was slowly being absorbed into the seven bone spurs on the little skeleton's back. As the blood began to run out, the multitude of white bones inside seemed to be affected by some force and liquefied with the remaining blood to be absorbed into the seven spurs as well.

This process had taken about half an hour and everything in the pool had been absorbed into the spinal area of the small skeleton. Emily noticed that the seven bone spurs on his back had turned a pagan, bright red and were subtly emitting a bloodthirsty light. They looked even sharper and more terrifying than before.

The pool was square and three metres deep after everything had disappeared. The small skeleton was only a metre tall. He looked up at Emily and seemed to be considering how to climb up.

"You've run out of ideas, haven't you?" Emily huffed, planning to unfurl a rope to pull the little skeleton up.

Who'd have thought that as soon as she spoke, the little skeleton would activate the seven bone spurs on its back, fly shakily out of the pool of blood and land next to a shocked Emily. The little skeleton didn't even look at Emily as he activated the seven bone spurs again and flew next to the still meditating Han Shuo. "Damn it, you're just as stupid as your master!" Although the little skeleton was expressionless, Emily could feel that he was smugly showing off at the moment and she couldn't help but curse him.

Then she saw the little skeleton continue to fan the seven bone spurs and begin to fly around the huge room. He started out wobbly, but then began to level out. As he flew more steadily, his speed increased. By the end, Emily's eyes couldn't even keep up with him.

Han Shuo exhaled lightly at this moment and suddenly said, "It's finally done!"

Emily was very surprised and turned her head to look at Han Shuo. She was suddenly mesmerised and looked into his eyes with great astonishment, forgetting to ask Han Shuo what was going on.

Han Shuo's eyes were suddenly incredibly clear, like the brightest star in the vast sky. They were seductive and deep, giving others a feeling of impenetrable mystery.

"What is it?" Han Shuo couldn't help but stand up when he saw Emily's lovesick expression and walked over to pinch her face, asking with some confusion.

"No, nothing much. Just that your eyes seem brighter than before, and even your presence seems to have undergone some changes." Emily brushed Han Shuo's playful hand away a little shyly.

"Heh heh, so it turns out there's a really nice side benefit to taking over the Necromancer's soul." Han Shuo laughed happily.

"Hurry up and tell me, what exactly is going on?" Emily's curiosity was killing her at the moment as her hand snaked out and grabbed Han Shuo's throat, asking viciously.

"Cough, okay, okay!" Han Shuo smiled in explanation after wrenching Emily's hands away from his neck. "I told you, the martial arts I'm training in are quite miraculous. Not only have they strengthened my body, they've even enlarged my brain. He was about to use the soul erosion spell to take over my soul and memories, but because my brain had been enlarged, I was also able to sense all the memories of his soul during the process."

"Logically speaking, a necromancer of my level, mental strength, and brain processes would definitely be far inferior to the speed at which he would erode my soul. Ordinary people wouldn't even have time to repeat his name before their memories were co-opted.

"But it was a pity that the tenacity of my enlarged brain was something he hadn't imagined. I took over his memories before he could take mine and occupied his soul, gaining all of his. It's as simple as that."

Emily was stunned by the explanation that came out of Han Shuo's mouth. She looked at Han Shuo with an incredulous look and shook her head, "Unbelievable, truly unbelievable. What kind of monster are you?"

Hugging her tightly, Han Shuo held Emily and said cheekily, "All right, all right. Don't be so surprised. We can go now."

The Demonslayer's Edge suddenly flew up and out of the Necromancer's chest after he finished speaking and landed in Han Shuo's palm. " There was a chopped off finger at the tip of the Demonslayer's Edge with a space ring on it. Han Shuo took it as well.

"You brat, stop flying around and come down." Han Shuo shouted with a smile at the little skeleton that was still circling in the air. The little skeleton swooped down in front of Han Shuo and suddenly screeched to a halt in front of him, standing on the ground and waving his bone dagger.

"He, he stepped into the pool of blood and absorbed all the blood and bone fragments into these seven bone spurs." Emily hastened to explain to Han Shuo what the little skeleton had done while he was meditating.

Nodding, Han Shuo smiled, "I know. It's not the first time he's done something so daring. This is no big deal. Look, he can fly now, isn't that great?"

"I have no idea what kind of demon you've created here. I notice that it seems to have its own emotions now. I don't know if it was my mistaken impression, but when I laughed at him for not being able to get out of the pool of blood, he immediately flew out of it proudly. Really, I could feel it showing off for me, I promise!" Emily looked at the little skeleton and seemed to suddenly remember what had just happened.

"Heh heh, don't be surprised. There are too many strange things in this world. I think what you saw was no illusion, because I've had the same impression before. I can't really say for sure what's going on now, but I think he'll give me an explanation as he evolves in the future." Han Shuo wasn't surprised at all as he pointed to the small skeleton and smiled faintly.

Emily started when she heard those words and looked at the little skeleton with a wry smile after a while, then shifted her gaze to Han Shuo. "You two weirdos!"

"There is nothing strange about this. You need to get used to everything about me, because I believe there are only more amazing things to come in the future." Han Shuo laughed heartily and seemed to be in a good mood.

"Bryan, you're growing so fast that your future achievements are hard to imagine. Maybe I won't be able to help you any more. I'm only a widow, will you push me aside?" Emily suddenly seemed to be thinking about the future as she looked at Han Shuo. Her beautiful eyes looked at him and asked with a bit of forlornness.

"Don't be silly. I'm with you not because you can help me. Even if our identities change in the future, it won't affect anything between us." Han Shuo looked deeply at Emily and saw that she had a happy expression on her face. Then he pulled at Emily. "Let's go, let's go. Let's go, we don't need to go anywhere else. I think I've got what you need."

The two didn't linger as they walked off, hand in hand. The sky had just begun to brighten as the two left, stealthily, much as they had arrived.
