Chapter 83 - CHAPTER 82: The Eye of Darkness

A howl of pain rang out as Han Shuo clutched his lower body and pulled away from Fanny. He curled up in pain as his mental state returned to normal.

Fanny sat up, dusted herself off and got off the bed as if nothing had happened. She gave Han Shuo a proud look and snorted lightly, "Well, do you recognise my strength now?"

"Master Fanny, there was no need to be so vicious, was there?" Han Shuo grimaced as he clutched his stomach in pain.

"Damn it, how dare you say anything. I let it go at the pool, but you... you've violated me again! I've already spared you by not killing you!" Fanny was filled with rage at the thought of what had just happened as she glared at Han Shuo angrily.

Han Shuo deftly climbed down from the bed and sat down next to Fanny, his face full of seriousness. He said calmly, "Let bygones be bygones. I'm going to recite a magic spell for you."

Fanny saw that Han Shuo was all business and knew that he was deliberately changing the subject from what had just happened. A wave of rage rose in her heart and she was about to open her mouth to scold Han Shuo when she suddenly heard Han Shuo's incantation. Fanny paid no attention at first, but was then startled when Han Shuo finished. A strangely excited light shone in her clear eyes as they focused on Han Shuo. She asked with a trembling voice, "This is necromancy magic... I can feel it, but how come I've never heard this incantation before?"

"This is an incantation for an advanced magic, 'Canopy of Necromancy'. It's a necromancy magic that has been lost for many years. I also acquired it unknowingly." Han Shuo explained slowly when he saw Fanny's overjoyed expression.

"Just what is going on here, explain it to me clearly! And are there any other lost necromancy spells? Hurry up and tell me!" Fanny had always been immersed in the study of necromancy and had long since forgotten her earlier anger when she heard the ancient spell that had been lost for ages come out of Han Shuo's mouth. Instead, she asked him desperately.

Inwardly heaving a sigh of relief, Han Shuo calmly collected his thoughts, then nodded and said, "There is also an evil 'Corpse Reanimation' magic. I found it unknowingly. Master Fanny, you should know that these are all lost magics of our Necromancy Major, so I need you to keep this a secret for the time being."

Master Fanny wasn't stupid, she immediately understood what Han Shuo intended and nodded her head like a chicken pecking at rice, urging him on with her eyes.

Han Shuo then went through the magical incantations and hand gestures for 'Corpse Reanimation' and 'Canopy of Necromancy' in detail for Fanny. He then brought out some knowledge that he had not yet fully grasped and asked Fanny about them one by one. Fanny was incomparably pleased and had long since forgotten Han Shuo's rude behaviour towards her earlier. She patiently explained and detailed the incomprehension Han Shuo had encountered.

Han Shuo understood that sooner or later he would have to cast these spells, but he had no intention of letting others know that he knew these secrets before his strength was sufficient.

As an adept mage of the Necromancy Major, and someone Han Shuo admired, Han Shuo hadn't planned on constantly hiding the truth from Fanny. Especially when she was someone whose bark was worse than her bite and was actually very caring towards him. After all, there was still some knowledge he needed to ask Fanny about in order to gain a full understanding.

Han Shuo stayed in Fanny's room and talked until the middle of the night, unbeknownst to both of them. The previously agitated Fanny began to yawn one after the other, then discovered that it was late. Covering her mouth as she yawned, Fanny lazily said to Han Shuo, "It's late, I'm going to rest. I've explained these questions to you, so you should return to the dormitory and rest as well. Oh, right, you've never stayed in the dormitories I arranged for you, have you?"

Nodding, Han Shuo stood up and walked to the door. Just as Han Shuo was about to push the door open and leave, Fanny suddenly said, "Bryan, don't think I've forgotten what you've done to me. However, if you can dedicate yourself to your studies and graduate early from the Necromancy major, perhaps I will forgive you!"

Han Shuo started, stopping in front of the room door and turning his head to see Fanny looking at him expectantly. Her expression was serious as she said earnestly, "Bryan, with your talent, this shouldn't be difficult. As long as you're willing to work hard, I'm sure you'll become a very strong necromancer, and then you'll be able to get anything you want!"

"Does that include you, Master Fanny?" Han Shuo asked unconsciously.

Fanny's heart trembled as she saw Han Shuo staring at her. Her cheeks suddenly flushed and she became angry, admonishing, "Get out! Get out, you sex-crazed bad boy!"

His heart filled with joy, Han Shuo felt that Fanny seemed to be a little interested in him. From their recent conversations, he could tell that Fanny had certain expectations of him. He thought carefully and suddenly understood. He realised that if he wanted to win Fanny's heart, his current strength and status were really a bit unrealistic.

"Don't worry, I'll work hard. You'll see soon!" Han Shuo whispered as he paused in front of the door, then quickly disappeared into the darkness.

After leaving Fanny's room, Han Shuo did not return to the dormitory Fanny had arranged for him. There were people guarding the doors and some of the rooms were connected to each other. Han Shuo didn't want others to discover his tracks in case he aroused the suspicion of "Shadow Ghost" and Grover.

Especially since he had just heard Fanny say that she had felt someone following her recently. This made Han Shuo even more cautious, afraid to expose himself in front of others.

Turning these thoughts over in his mind, he felt that he might want to buy a house outside the school grounds, otherwise he wouldn't even have a place to stay when he returned to the Empire in the future. If he had his own place, he wouldn't have to travel to the graveyard at the back of the academy every time he wanted to activate the transport matrix.

As Han Shuo quietly weighed this matter in his heart and walked to the side of the dark Great Library, he suddenly heard the sound of pages being turned. This caused his heart to suddenly tighten in surprise as he immediately hid noiselessly in the shadows of a corner of the library.

With a slight twist of his neck, three Original Demons flew out silently and crept into the library under the cover of the deep night. Two of the figures held faint lights in their hands and Han Shuo saw two familiar faces in the faint light - the old mage Duke and the elderly knight Erick.

Han Shuo had originally received the round green orb that opened the cemetery from these people in the graveyard in the mountains behind the Academy. The overconfident Erick had thought that Han Shuo would undoubtedly be dead after the slash of his combat aura. That's why he hadn't checked Han Shuo's body. After a few months, Han Shuo hadn't thought that he would see these two again in the dark Great Library.

"Be careful. There are many strong people in this Babylonian Academy of Magic and strength. Don't alert others or we'll be in big trouble." Duke warned immediately when he saw Erick turning pages with great movements.

"We still haven't found it, the books of the Necromancy Major have nothing to do with the 'Eye of Darkness'." Erick turned the pages with a softer hand as he complained in a low voice.

"Huh. 'The Eye of Darkness' is the key to opening the Cemetery of death. We finally got it after a great deal of trouble, only to find that it would suddenly disappear. When Dylan died the last time, the item was no longer with him. We went back to his house and searched everything, but still found nothing. Why would this item suddenly disappear? This is strange indeed. The Babylonian Academy of Magic and Strength has many books on necromancy. Perhaps we can find some clues there. Otherwise, we can't afford to be a target when the higher ranks throw the blame around. Duke looked at Erick and said modestly.

Outside, thanks to the original demons' eavesdropping, Han Shuo was able to listen in on their conversation and expressions. He finally understood that the round ball he was holding was the 'Eye of Darkness'. It looked like the two of them were visiting the Dark Great Library late at night because they also had the same attitude as him, wanting to research the secrets of the Eye of Darkness in the library.

After a short time, the two had gained nothing and left the library dejected. They left quickly, using a small street that led to the back of the Academy. From their conversation, Han Shuo could tell that they seemed to be part of some sort of organisation. Now that he had obtained the Eye of Darkness, he wanted to learn more of their secrets and see if they were a threat to him. He used the three original demons to follow them from a distance, slowly moving with them towards the mountains in the background.

The two didn't go through the graveyard in the mountains, changing direction only after leaving the Academy grounds. They moved quickly, using the streets of the northern district, eventually entering a secluded courtyard in the northern district.

The three original demons had followed them here and were about to sneak into the courtyard to get a good look at them, following Han Shuo's instructions, when he suddenly felt the original demons crash into something. "Who?!" A voice immediately rang out from the courtyard.

Han Shuo was startled and immediately understood that some sort of boundary must have been set up around the courtyard. Otherwise, the Original Demons, who had no shape or form, would never have been discovered. The original demons seemed to sense danger as Han Shuo recovered from his surprise. They quickly retreated, with Han Shuo hastily manipulating them with his mind, telling them to flee with all possible speed in three different directions leading to the northern road.

After a while, the original demons returned to Han Shuo's body from three different directions, allowing him to breathe a sigh of relief. Remembering the courtyard and knowing that there was a strong expert inside, he temporarily stopped his constant observation.

Just as he was about to leave, he discovered that these were the streets of the Northern District. This courtyard was not too far from Phoebe's residence. The sky was already getting a bit brighter. Remembering the rations he had promised the dwarves, Han Shuo spent a silver coin on breakfast for the ride and then walked to Phoebe's residence.

When Han Shuo arrived at Phoebe's residence, he immediately noticed that the presence of guards around her residence was much more numerous than before. From both sides of the door, extremely quiet breathing sounds could be heard. It looked as if experts were lurking inside. Apart from that, there was also a place in the building where Han Shuo couldn't feel the air flow. This let him know that some sort of field or barrier had been set up inside.

Han Shuo knocked lightly when he arrived at Phoebe's door. Someone came quickly as soon as he knocked, but didn't open the door directly, instead asking quietly from behind the door, "Who is it?"

"My name is Bryan, I'm here to see Miss Phoebe!" Han Shuo stood in front of the door and said quietly.

"Please wait a moment!" The person inside replied as another set of footsteps quickly faded away. After a while, two sets of footsteps could be heard from the other side of the door.

"Is it Bryan?" Fabian's voice rang through the door.

"It's me." Han Shuo replied.

Sighing in relief, Fabian instructed, "Open the door, it is indeed Bryan."

The doors opened to reveal Fabian standing next to two swordsmen wearing silver armour. Their faces were weathered and coarse, bearing the marks of many years of exposure to wind and sun. They looked like two experts.

"Hurry and come in! I haven't seen you for ten days. Phoebe often mentions you to me, saying that with you on our side and your extraordinary reflexes, we'll save ourselves a lot of trouble." Although a smile appeared on Fabian's face, he was obviously quite tired.

"Looks like life hasn't been that easy for you. The last time I was here, security wasn't as tight as it is now!" Han Shuo swept his eyes over Fabian as he teased him.

Sighing lightly, Fabian said, "Don't mention it. Since the banquet, Miss Phoebe has been the victim of three assassination attempts in the last ten days. Each one more vicious than the last. These people are from the Battlefire mercenary group, Miss Phoebe has spent a lot of money hiring them, but in the last few days they've had three of them injured and two killed. It looks like Grover is starting to get worried, but our circumstances have become more and more dangerous!"

They walked towards the main hall as they spoke. Han Shuo could sense two more mages and a warrior in the corners around them, they seemed to be extremely strong. With so many experts protecting them, and Phoebe's strength as a swordmaster, Grover and Shadow Ghost's people must be extremely terrifying with such a high number of casualties.

Three original demons flew out of the back of Han Shuo's neck again without a sound. They avoided the boundary that the Battlefire mercenaries had set up and hid in three different parts of the room, silently observing everything around them.

After a while, Phoebe came in with a tall beauty with fiery red hair pulled back in a ponytail. The girl's skin was copper coloured and her body was tall, athletic and buff. Her breasts, buttocks and body were large, and she wore a broadsword on her back. She also looked like a swordsman.

"Bryan, it's good to finally see you again. This is great!" Phoebe said in surprise as she looked at Han Shuo.

"Phoebe, this is the magical Bryan you've been talking about?" The athletic girl with the fiery red hair looked at Han Shuo sceptically as she spoke.

"Yes, Candice!"

"Let's see if he's as amazing as you say!" Candice snorted lightly as she drew the broadsword behind her in one motion and suddenly slashed down at Han Shuo. As the broadsword came out of its sheath, red flames immediately crawled up the surface of the entire blade like a red dragon's breath. It looked like she was a mage swordsman as well.
