Chapter 81 - CHAPTER 80: A Magical Cemetery

Han Shuo fell to the ground, regained his footing and took stock. He was in a large laboratory. All sorts of containers and large bones were scattered about. Several dim lights, like green will-o'-the-wisps, were placed on the side walls, illuminating the interior and making it a little brighter.

There were also a few rooms in the four corners. Han Shuo walked into each of the rooms and discovered that two of them were filled with all sorts of books that had to do with necromancy magic, as well as a few books on dark magic. The books in here were obviously all very old. There was a lot of dust on them, and the number of books far exceeded the number of books in the Dark Studies section of the Academy library. Many of them were also books that Han Shuo had never heard of.

The other four rooms were used to store magical supplies. Each of the containers were tightly sealed and filled with colourful liquid, some of which contained strange bones and teeth of vicious beasts that glittered with light.

Just as Han Shuo was taking in his surroundings, the round green ball in his hand suddenly emitted a blinding flash of green splendour. The light enveloped the entire laboratory as a black shadow like a ghost suddenly materialised in one of the circular magic symbols within the laboratory.

"My child, by the time you arrive here and see this reflection, I will have returned to dust. If you wish to understand all about the Cemetery of death, then you must pay attention and listen to everything I have to say".

The black shadow was a concentrated mass, whether it was his eyes or the light from the round green ball, Han Shuo was unable to see its original form. An untrained voice slowly formed each word with some difficulty.

Han Shuo was shocked and then immediately realised that this was a way for magicians to leave messages - mirror images. According to the meaning of the words, Han Shuo hastily focused his concentration and listened to each sentence.

"First, you must know that the Cemetery of death was the holy ground of the necromancers in my time. It represents the pinnacle of necromantic magic. The cemetery of death can move. When you finally grasp all that is here, you will find that you possess a terrifying city..."

The soft voice explained incessantly. Han Shuo concentrated and listened to the voice's slow descriptions. When the voice said, "You will still be able to see me on the next level," the black shadow suddenly disappeared as well.

Apart from the magical matrix above ground in the cemetery, there were two other levels besides the laboratory and the library on this level. In order to fully grasp all the secrets of the cemetery of Death, he would have to travel to the two lower levels as well. Han Shuo had gained this understanding from the Black Shadow that the Cemetery of Death was actually a castle that could move, and it was an incredibly powerful fortress. This shocked Han Shuo greatly.

The round green ball was like a key to the graveyard of death. It contained the evil spirit brand of a necromancer. If an ordinary person obtained this round ball, they would be unable to escape the corruption of the ball and would eventually turn into a senseless zombie, except for necromancers with the sense of necromancy magic around them.

Even though Han Shuo was only an apprentice mage, he still had the presence of necromancy magic about him, so fortunately he hadn't been assimilated by the curse, but because he had recklessly explored when his mental strength was too weak, he would have had a hard time escaping death that day without the help of the magic yuan.

The amazing Magical Yuan was different from any energy in the world. It had actually saved Han Shuo when his mind had been invaded by the Spiritual Force, and had miraculously helped Han Shuo increase his Mental Force. Han Shuo had reaped great rewards in the midst of inhuman pain. This was probably something that the creator of the round green orb had never imagined.

From the depictions of the black shadow, Han Shuo had only gleaned limited information. It seemed that there was a deeper explanation in the two lower levels. Han Shuo pondered in silence for a while and then stepped back into the rooms full of magic books.

The magic books were the essence of necromancy magic, the product of a time when necromancy magic was at its peak. They were truly priceless treasures to Han Shuo. The Academy already had quite a few books, but there weren't many books that truly dealt with necromancy magic. Most of them only dealt with beginner or journeyman topics, and those that dealt with more advanced necromancy magic were extremely few.

He leafed through the thickly dusted books in the two rooms. Han Shuo sighed in admiration. The magical books here were far superior to those at the Academy, both in quality and quantity.

Three of them were called 'Necromancy Magic', divided into upper, middle and lower scrolls. They were placed in the most conspicuous place and had obviously received special treatment. They were placed in a magical container and still looked quite new. They probably wouldn't be damaged even after tens of thousands of years.

The upper scroll of Necromancy Magic was already quite thick. Han Shuo discovered that it detailed everything from the beginning of necromancy to the true essence of necromancy. The knowledge it contained was quite different from what was taught at the Academy, and much of the necromancy knowledge and magic it contained was something Han Shuo had never heard of before.

There were handwritten notes on each page, starting with the middle scroll, providing detailed footnotes to the contents of the page, but it looked as if the three scrolls were of one piece. When Han Shuo read the middle and lower scroll, even with the help of the notes, he still couldn't understand some of the knowledge it contained.

Han Shuo could barely understand the first half of the upper scroll, but unfortunately, without the presence of the handwritten notes, Han Shuo still found it very difficult to understand. Perhaps the person who had prepared this set of magical books had thought that people wouldn't need notes to understand the upper scroll, and that was why they hadn't left any explanations.

After thinking for a while, Han Shuo decided to start with the first scroll. He planned to use this complete set of 'Necromancy Magic' as his textbooks and slowly study and train from them. After making up his mind, Han Shuo took the orb and left this plane, returning to the surface plane. Unaffected by the boundary, he began to study this scroll, skipping meals and forgetting to sleep.

Han Shuo studied this scroll of 'Necromancy Magic' for many days in a row, understanding every word by studying every word. From this set of 'Necromancy Magic', Han Shuo understood that the knowledge and spells currently taught at the Academy were much more superficial than the explanations in the books.

There were many evil spells that Han Shuo would not be able to learn from Fanny.

"Corpse Reanimation was a basic type of necromancy magic. It used necromancy magic to turn the deceased into zombies who would fight according to the will of the caster. With enough mental strength, a terrifying army of zombies could be reanimated.

"Canopy of Necromancy was another evil magic. As long as Canopy of Necromancy was unleashed, the combat power and agility of the dark creatures under the canopy's protection would be greatly increased, and the enemy would find it difficult to adapt to this area spell, reducing their combat power.

Numerous spells similar to Corpse Reanimation and Canopy of Necromancy were listed in the scroll. It was said that these magics had been lost for a long time and none of today's necromancers could grasp them, but there were detailed descriptions of 'Necromancy Magic' within this scroll.

Han Shuo understood that he had picked up a precious treasure. If this scroll of Necromancy Magic were to be circulated, it might be able to instantly change the current state of necromancers and greatly increase the necromancer's level of strength. The terror of the necromancers would then materialise once more.

He studied for almost ten days, either meditating or studying the scroll of Necromancy Magic. "Corpse Reanimation was a basic spell, but unfortunately Han Shuo had no corpses to practice on. "Canopy of Necromancy was an advanced spell, Han Shuo was also unable to practice it because he lacked the mental strength to do so.

But through his practice during this time, Han Shuo had mastered the Bone Spear spell. Even the zombie summoning spell was almost ready, but it encountered some resistance when communicating with the other dimension.

After calculating the time, it was time for the Demonslayer Edge to be completed. Han Shuo thought for a moment and left the cemetery with the small skeleton, carefully avoiding a few level 3 and above magical creatures. He hunted a few lower level monsters and took them with him, once again heading towards the dwarf's village.

Halfway there, just as Han Shuo was about to enter the dwarven village, he heard the sound of weapons clashing. Han Shuo was greatly shocked and picked up speed, taking the little skeleton through the trees and bushes and hurrying towards the source of the sounds.

A few dozen man-eating monsters and nearly a hundred goblins were brandishing weapons and laying siege to the dwarves. The dwarves had brand new weapons in their hands, and they were much sharper than the ones the man-eating monsters and goblins were using. The goblins, in particular, used a few crude blades and wooden sticks that broke into many pieces whenever they clashed with the dwarves.

It was the superiority of their weapons that had enabled the vastly outnumbered dwarves to defend themselves so far. The dwarf village was not too far behind them, and there were women and children who had no fighting skills. For the safety of the village, they could not even retreat into the village in case they exposed the village and endangered the women and children.

Han Shuo saw this scene and immediately became enraged. His crossbow had already appeared in his hand as he ran, and several crossbow bolts burst through the air with a whistling sound, shooting down a man-eating monster and two goblins. The small skeleton seemed to sense Han Shuo's anger from the depths of his heart and flew forward. The seven bone spurs on its back shot out in all directions, and lines of blood appeared on the bodies of the man-eating monsters and goblins as deafening sounds rang out.

"Oh, it's Han! He's here!" Bennett, who was holding an iron club and surrounded by five or six goblins, suddenly saw Han Shuo's figure and exclaimed in surprise.

Like a wolf entering a flock of sheep, the arrival of Han Shuo and the little skeleton immediately heralded a slaughter. The little skeleton was particularly ferocious. Its seven bone spurs danced through the crowd of man-eating monsters and goblins, causing injury and death.

Upon Han Shuo's arrival, he first summoned a few skeletal warriors, and they all wielded bone daggers as they rushed towards these villains. Han Shuo himself held his ground, targeting the man-eating monsters and goblins that had died, and began to cast the Corpse Reanimation spell.

After failing a few times, Han Shuo remained where he was and continued to recite the spell under the dwarves' astonished eyes, attempting to revive the corpses that had just lost their lives.

Finally, an ugly goblin with a crossbow bolt still protruding from its chest suddenly stood up after Han Shuo cast his spell. It grabbed a metal club, staggered over and began to attack the goblin next to it that was still alive. With one success under his belt, Han Shuo calmly remembered the steps he had just taken and cast another Corpse Reanimation spell.

He was successful again, this time on a man-eating monster. Under the release of Han Shuo's Corpse Reanimation spell, another five or six man-eating monsters and goblins stood up, raised their weapons at Han Shuo's command, and began to attack the living man-eating monsters and goblins.

When the man-eating monsters and goblins discovered this phenomenon, a strong wave of fear and panic immediately spread among them. These man-eating monsters and goblins were shocked to see their dead companions rise up and attack them. Saying a few sentences in their own language and pointing at Han Shuo in horror, they all scattered like the four winds as they fled for their lives.

Even the dwarves on the side felt a bit scared. They all looked at Han Shuo with extremely strange looks, different from the ones they usually gave him. Han Shuo blinked and then reacted immediately. He released his spell and the dead man-eating monsters and goblins fell back down.

"Han, your magic is too evil. Even we are a bit scared." Bennett walked over to Han Shuo and spoke hesitantly.

Han Shuo knew that the Corpse Reanimation spell was indeed quite evil, and ordinary people would not be able to accept it. He thought for a moment and nodded, "Bennett, I understand what you mean, but I've done this to save you all."

"We understand, thank you Han. But this kind of magic is really hard to accept. Even the villainous man-eating monsters and goblins were terrified by you. Heh heh, let's go. Your weapon is ready and we'll give it to you when we get to the village.

"You guys did it!" Han Shuo was truly astonished to hear that the Demonslayer's Edge was ready. He brought up the rear and walked towards the dwarven village.

The small skeleton's seven bone spurs reattached to its spine and didn't follow Han Shuo into the dwarf village. Rather, it followed Han Shuo's orders and plundered the bodies of the dead with a practiced air.

Following Calvin, Han Shuo entered the dwarf village and arrived at the place where the Demonslayer's Edge had been forged.

"Han, this is the weapon we forged to your specifications. Are you satisfied with it?" Bennett pointed with the hammer in his hand to a weapon on the side as he spoke to Han Shuo.

The Demonslayer's Edge was two feet long and a cold light sparkled along its sharp edge. The body was dark brown with three raised thorns at the spiky tip. It was heavy in his hand.

Han Shuo held the Demonslayer's Edge and watched it carefully, then suddenly stabbed the whetstone beneath it. The Demonslayer Edge sank into the grindstone.

Nodding, Han Shuo looked at the somewhat uncomfortable Calvin with satisfaction. He smiled, "Elder, thank you for your craftsmanship. I really like this weapon."

"Heh heh, as long as you like it. This weapon has black iron and black gold mixed in, as well as more than ten rare metals. I'm also very happy with this weapon." Calvin breathed a sigh of relief and looked at the Demonslayer Edge as he spoke.

"Be on your guard, man-eating monsters and goblins may reappear during this time. I will be leaving for a while and will bring your winter rations with me on my next visit.

Becareful".

After reminding these dwarves, Han Shuo eagerly returned to the cemetery of Death and circulated the magical Yuan in his body. He used the essence of his blood as a circuit to the Demonslayer's Edge and spent the next three days and three nights refining the weapon according to the memories left behind by Chu Cang Lan. Han Shuo's blood was mixed with magical yuan as it slowly flowed into the Demonslayer Edge.

After three days, Han Shuo was exhausted and felt that his magical yuan was running out. The originally dark brown Demonslayer Edge had turned dark red. After Han Shuo's magical yuan recovered over the next few days, he began to practise the 'Law of Activating Magic' with the Demonslayer Edge, attempting to manipulate the weapon with his mind.

During this process, the meridians on Han Shuo's body would occasionally swell painfully. Even on this day, Han Shuo gritted his teeth against the tremendous impact of the waterfall and continuously used magic yuan to refine the meridians in his body. Suddenly, he sank into a mental state.

Under unknown circumstances, Han Shuo slowly woke up. He discovered that he had already fallen into the deep pool at some unknown time. When he emerged from the cold water of the deep pool, he suddenly discovered that the Demonslayer's Edge had disappeared. Frightened, he hurried to find the Demonslayer's Edge.

At that moment, a dark red light suddenly shot out of the water and flew towards Han Shuo. Han Shuo had thought that the danger had found him and was about to dodge it when he realised that a bizarre feeling had arisen in his heart. It was as if the dark red light shooting towards him had some sort of connection to him.

He went blank at first, but then a thought flashed through his mind. Suddenly enlightened, Han Shuo's thoughts moved. The dark red light shooting towards him suddenly began to dance in the air. Han Shuo then sensed a fish in the water of the pool and a thought flashed through his mind. The fish was instantly pierced by the Demonslayer Edge.

"Looks like I've succeeded." Han Shuo's left hand reached out and the Demonslayer Edge shot out of the water and landed in Han Shuo's palm.

As his magical yuan circulated, the speed of the Mystic Glacial Spellfire was many times faster than usual. Han Shuo was shocked again, and then suddenly discovered that traces of frosty air were leaking from the Demonslayer Edge that he was holding in his left hand, with the Mystic Glacial Air infused into it. As the Demonslayer's Edge was pointed at the deep pool, a layer of ice had already formed on the surface of the pool as the water gave off frigid air.

He knew that this was the sign that he had broken through the 'Open Passages' and reached the 'Shaped Spirit Realm'. Han Shuo was pleased to know that after a few life and death battles and several sleepless nights of magical training, he had finally made another breakthrough.

Han Shuo's magic had once again improved and he now had a most excellent Demonslayer Edge in his hands. Han Shuo felt that it was time to leave the cemetery of death and thoroughly eliminate the threat known as Grover.

When he left the tombs in the mountains behind the Academy, Han Shuo didn't immediately find Phoebe. Han Shuo harboured feelings of affection for Fanny. He had planned to ask her some questions about magical knowledge after their last meeting, but it was a pity that he had received the black gold ore from Phoebe and had eagerly returned to the cemetery of death.

The upper scroll of Necromancy Magic contained a lot of knowledge that Han Shuo did not fully understand. This scroll did not have many notes. As an adept magician, Fanny was bound to have a deeper understanding. Therefore, Han Shuo had already made a note of the topics he didn't understand and wanted to find a chance to ask Fanny again.

The Babylon Academy of Magic and Strength held an exalted position within the empire. Even though Grover hated Han Shuo's guts, he wouldn't dare to make a bold move against Han Shuo on the school grounds. The teachers of the various majors were all quite strong, apart from the necromancy major, the other majors had even stronger characters acting as supervisors. Even if Shadow Ghost's assassins came looking for him, it was impossible for them to leave alive once they were discovered.

It was dusk now and the students were relaxing or eating after a day of study. Han Shuo didn't go directly to Fanny's lab to look for her, for fear of attracting the attention of others. He waited a while until the sky had completely darkened before he went to the small building where Fanny lived without anyone knowing.

Han Shuo had been in the Necromancy Major for so long and had long since found out where Fanny lived because of his feelings for her. He skilfully deciphered the appropriate direction under the cover of night and walked to the teachers' dormitory building where Fanny lived.
