The darkness that surrounds Kaito hides the mysterious creature and forms a cloak of shadows that seems to drown out even time itself.
Thus, the eye contact between them seems to extend for long seconds and, somehow, Kaito begins to feel that he can understand what this creature is feeling. He can't see the beast's expression, but he can see in its eyes that it is angry and frightened. For this reason, he doesn't make any sudden movements or look away, he just continues to stare at it without any sign of hesitation.
The creature seems to understand that Kaito is a little scared too. It can probably smell his sweat, but, like him, it doesn't look away.
Kaito gradually feels her gaze soften. It becomes not as poignant as before.
