"Leave the boy. He's already dead..."
Kaito's heart races at Guozhi's words.
His gaze turns to Edward, who is still in his arms. He doesn't want to believe what he's heard, but at the same time, the heavy bleeding dripping from Edward's neck seems to indicate that maybe Guozhi is right.
"No... I can't leave him behind. I can't just abandon him here!" Kaito protests, his voice laced with emotion.
Guozhi watches Kaito with a compassionate gaze. "I understand your hesitation, but think about it. If you continue to carry him, the Atrocious Ones won't give up chasing them. You and he will end up dying here."
Guozhi's logic is hard to counter, and deep down Kaito knows he's completely right. Still, the thought of leaving Edward behind, even if he is dead, is distressing to him.
"You don't understand. He saved me... I can't just abandon him!" Kaito says with determination, holding Edward tighter.
