"We've searched all known locations, but there's nothing. It's as if the cat has disappeared completely."
HQ's grip tightened on the armrest, his jaw clenching. He had been hearing the same story over and over again, and it was starting to grate on his nerves.
"No trace of the cat… no sightings… nothing?" HQ repeated, his voice cold. "Are all of you that incompetent?"
The man tensed, knowing that HQ's patience was wearing thin. "We're doing everything we can, sir," he said quickly, trying to defend himself. "But the cat is elusive. We'll keep searching."
HQ waved his hand dismissively, cutting him off. "Leave."
The man bowed and hurried out of the room, just as the woman had done moments earlier. The room fell into an uneasy silence, but it didn't last long.
Suddenly, HQ's communicator beeped, and a message flashed across the screen.
His eyes narrowed as he read the report, his anger rising with each word.
