The sound of the door opening broke the silence, and a light came in from the direction of the door. When I came back to reality from my hallucination, Daley let go of his hand and his back was back against the sofa. The light fell on his silver mask, and now he looked serious, and there was no more reflection of me in his eyes.
"Daley, I heard someone drop a bomb on your house!" A man's gruff voice came from the door, and I quickly got up and stood at the end of the sofa.
A muscled man in a tight T-shirt with gray hair and an Italian appearance appeared in the house. Rita's right behind him. The man greeted Daley politely, and Daley motioned for him to sit down with his eyes.
"Rita, why don't you make Chris a vodka," Daley said, "And get me one, too."
I stood by, not knowing whether to leave or not. That man named Chris glanced at me and then at Daley.
