“Are you okay?” Daley stared at my arm. “Your arm is injured.”
“I was robbed just now, and the robber pushed me down.” I noticed that there was a scratch on my arm. “It's all right.”
“I'll clean your wound when we get back to the hotel.”
“Why did you send someone to follow me?” If I hadn't thought I was being followed, I wouldn't have strayed into the alley, let alone been robbed. The arrow of anger in me was pointed at Daley.
“Martin and Felix are your protectors,” Daley explained patiently. “I'm sorry I didn't tell you. But why are you here?”
“I'm meeting a friend,” I lied. “A female friend who lives nearby. When she found out I was married, she wanted to meet me. It was just a casual meeting between friends.”
“Don't you think you're explaining too much?” Daley caressed my hand. “Let me know when you go out from now on. If you don't need Martin and Felix to follow you, I'll find someone else.”
I don't need special protection at all.
