Chereads / The Legendary Urban Physician / Chapter 4 - A Favor

Chapter 4 - A Favor

In the quiet emergency room, the only sound that could be heard was the beeping of the electrocardiogram. The elderly man on the bed slowly opened his eyes and murmured, "Xiao Lin?"

The middle-aged man trembled and rushed over, his eyes red and his words incoherent with excitement, "Dad! I'm here! I'm right here!"

He tightly held the old man's hand, tears streaming down uncontrollably. Even a grown man like him couldn't help but shed tears. He was so close, so close to losing a loved one!

Su Han glanced at them and said nothing. He turned around, ready to leave. However, Professor Xu hurriedly followed him, with a completely different attitude from his previous disdainful demeanor.

"Mr. Su, I apologize for my previous offense. Please don't take it to heart." Professor Xu followed behind Su Han, suddenly appearing somewhat polite and restrained.

Since Su Han had such capability, it wasn't an exaggeration to address him as Mister!

Su Han stopped in his tracks and glanced at Professor Xu. He said softly, "Professor Xu, I'm a doctor, so saving other people's lives is what I want to do the most. You are doctors too. The patients haven't given up yet, so how can you give up?"

Professor Xu nodded repeatedly. In the face of a master who excelled in the ancient medical technique Profound Qi Finger, his title as a professor meant nothing!

"You're right, Mr. Su. I've confused my responsibilities." Professor Xu shook his head repeatedly.

The nurses standing at the side was completely dumbfounded. What was happening? Professor Xu actually apologized to a young male nurse at the reception desk?

What a joke!

She felt as if the world had suddenly gone crazy.

"Professor Xu, you're a senior, so just call me Xiao Su. There's still a lot I need to learn from you and Professor Zhang in the future." Su Han nodded slightly, without a trace of arrogance. After saying that, he turned around and walked out of the emergency room.

Just as Professor Xu was about to leave, Professor Zhang followed and asked, "Old Xu, what happened?"

"This Mr. Su is a true expert!" Professor Xu sighed and lowered his voice. He seemed to have suddenly remembered something and quickly turned to look at the charming young nurse. "Young lady, are you currently working at the reception counter?"

The charming nurse was taken aback and nodded mechanically.

Professor Xu smiled. "Go to the Human Resources Department later and hand in your application. Ask them to arrange for you to be transferred to the Clinical Department. Just tell them that it was my suggestion."

After speaking, Professor Xu walked out of the emergency room, leaving the nurse still feeling like she was living in a dream. The Clinical Department… it was the department every nurse wanted to be assigned to!

Just by doing a small favor for Su Han, she could be transferred to the Clinical Department? My goodness, happiness came so suddenly!

Outside the door, as soon as Su Han stepped out, Director Liu rushed up and grabbed his collar, fiercely saying, "Do you know the consequences of your actions? Do you want to ruin the hospital? You've been fired! Do you understand? You've been fired!"

"Liu Cheng, let go of him!"

Professor Xu walked out and saw Director Liu's disrespectful behavior, immediately scolding him in a loud voice.

Liu Cheng was dumbfounded, not knowing what had happened. Why was Professor Xu siding with this young man? From Professor Xu's expression, could it be that… he had actually saved the elderly man's life? That couldn't be possible!

"How have you managed to become a director? Xiao Su is such a great doctor, yet you assigned him to the reception desk? Do you not want your job anymore?" Professor Xu berated, his displeasure evident.

Director Liu was completely stunned. Could it be that this kid had really saved the old man?

At this moment, Su Han's expression remained calm as ever, as if what he had just done was nothing out of the ordinary. He glanced at Director Liu and said indifferently, "All I want to do is save lives. The hospital? A hospital exists to treat and save people. If we can't treat and save people, then what's the point of the hospital's existence?"

Director Liu was left speechless, mouth agape, not knowing what to say. This young man must have been lucky. How could he have saved the old man's life? It was impossible!

He was unwilling to be lectured by Su Han like this, but he also knew that it wasn't the right time to say anything, lest he offend Professor Xu and the others.

After Su Han finished speaking, he was about to return to the reception desk to continue his work when the middle-aged man quickly chased after him from the emergency room.

"Mr. Su, please wait!" The middle-aged man walked over and let out a long sigh. Just a moment ago, he asked his father how he was feeling, and the old man actually said he felt very well. It made him so excited that he almost cried.

He walked up to Su Han and bowed respectfully, "Mr. Su, I am truly grateful to you. I owe you a favor! If you encounter any trouble in the Dongcheng District in the future, I can help you."

When the surrounding people witnessed the middle-aged man's actions, they were even more astonished. Mr. Dong's favor?

However, Su Han shook his head gently. "There's no need. It's just my duty as a doctor, nothing deserving of a favor."

When Su Han said this, the surrounding people's jaws dropped in shock. He was rejecting Mr. Dong's favor? What a joke!

Even Dong Lin was somewhat surprised. He rarely gave favors to others easily. If Su Han hadn't saved his father's life, he wouldn't have said such words. But Su Han seemed completely unconcerned.

"Your father has suffered many injuries when he was young and has accumulated them in his body. It will take some time to resolve completely. He still needs further treatment..."

"Then hurry up and treat the old man!" Before Su Han could finish, Director Liu shouted, "Do you know who Mr. Dong is? Do you know who the elderly man is?"

Su Han's expression suddenly turned cold. He glanced at Director Liu and his tone became icy. He had endured him time and time again, but Director Liu kept oppressing him, scolding him. Did he really think Su Han was easy to bully?

"In my eyes, there are only patients, not social status. If I want to save someone, I will, and if I don't want to, no amount of pleading will make a difference!" After saying this, Su Han turned around and walked away without any hesitation. This made Dong Lin immediately panic.

He glared at Director Liu fiercely, wishing he could slap him. "Are you trying to kill my father?"

Dong Lin's yell made Director Liu's legs immediately go weak. He only intended to order Su Han to treat the old man and leave a good impression on Mr. Dong, but he never expected...

Even Professor Xu shook his head, feeling impatient as he glanced at Director Liu with a disappointed expression. With a slight snort, he left with Professor Zhang, leaving Director Liu dumbfounded and at a loss, with a blank expression and tears in his eyes.

Dong Lin hurriedly followed, still being very polite. He knew that Su Han could save his father, so he dared not show any disrespect. Anyone who could earn the admiration of Professor Xu and Professor Zhang was definitely not an ordinary person.

"Mr. Su, as you just mentioned, you were willing to save my father because he served the country when he was young. I humbly request that you take care of my father's health and help him recover." Dong Lin was very sincere. To him, his father was the most important person in his life.

Su Han stopped and looked at Dong Lin. He could sense Dong Lin's filial piety, especially when he knelt outside the emergency room just now. Su Han admired him even more. A person of great status who only kneels to the heavens and his parents. Such a person indeed deserves more of his help.

"Your father was injured for the country. He deserves a peaceful old age. I can help you with this favor." Su Han thought for a moment and spoke calmly.

Dong Lin was instantly excited. He firmly shook Su Han's hand and thanked him profusely. Then, he handed his business card to Su Han.

"Mr. Su, I'm truly grateful to you. This is my contact number. If you have free time, feel free to give me a call, and I'll send someone to pick you up immediately!"
