"We have much to talk about" the man said, looking at Alex.
Alex turned around, seeing the man, but had a confused look on his face "Who are you?" he asked.
"Nothing you need to worry about, for now at least; trust me, literally, a few weeks ago I was relaxing in Puerto Rico talking to a girl named Sabrina." The man said.
"Puerto Rico? Can you travel to my world?" Alex asked.
The man smiled and said "I can travel to many worlds and even dimensions. Your previous world, or this current one, has other alternate dimensions, like one where you, Alex, are a vampire, or one where you are a survivor in an apocalyptic wasteland, or one where space travel exists and there are wars among the stars. I see all and can exist in all. But my adventures in the multiverse aren't important. What is important is what you just did, Alex."
"What I just did?" Alex asked.
"You killed Asher Beckett, one of the cursed blades. Congratulations on that, but there's more that happened."
"Like what?" Alex asked.
"Let's just say you absorbed some of his power." The man explained.
"I did?" Alex asked.
"Yup, however, your body can't hold both the origin power and the cursed power together, at least not yet." The man explained.
"So how does that explain why I'm here?" Alex asked.
"Well, you were about to self-destruct; luckily, I saved you." The man said with a bit of a cocky smile.
"I was?" Alex asked.
"Oh yeah, big-time nuclear explosion-level catastrophe. Normally Xymaris or Iris would've pulled you out of there and saved you, but who knows where the hell those two are right now...." the man said, sighing in annoyance.
"You...don't know where they are?" Alex asked.
"I may be all powerful, but I don't see everything; sometimes things...slip. I have a theory or two on where they went, but those are just theories." The man said.
"What do you mean, all powerful?" Alex asked still very inquisitive about the situation.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to explain that bit. I guess you could call me... Xymaris and Iris father. All beings are born in creation, and they are no different. The only reason I'm here is because they stopped doing their job...irresponsible daughters of mine..."
"Ok, lets just pack that away for later, but what about my, you know, explosion issue?" Alex said.
"Right! So basically, I have a deal for you; I will assist you in controlling your current power level, at least until your body can handle it." The man explained.
"And the other part of the deal?" Alex asked
"Find Iris and Xymaris...Im bored of doing their job for them...it's literally just watching you! Don't get me wrong, your whole fight against Asher was entertaining, but Id rather be at a beach, laying back and enjoying a nice cold drink with some beach babes around." The man said looking in the distance, almost as if he were picturing himself at the beach.
"Wait...you said Iris and Xymaris are missing...but what about Kearis?" Alex asked.
"Oh, she's still here; she just won't leave her room no matter how hard I try. Having daughters is no easy feat..." the man said sighing.
Alex took a deep breath before asking him "May I speak to her?"
This shocked the man, who slowly let out a smile "Sure" he said before snapping his fingers.
The next thing Alex knew, he was inside a different room, one with golden drapes and white walls.
"Alex?" A voice spoke from the side of the room.
"Hello Kearis...been awhile."
"Why...no how are you here?" Kearis asked with a straight face, hiding her surprise from her expressions.
"Your father." Alex said plainly.
"Of course..." Kearis said, sighing. "So why did you come here? Are you going to yell at me more?
Kearis remembered clearly how poorly their last meeting with each other went and was prepared for a similar response here.
"No...i wanted to ask you...if you could explain yourself better." Alex said.
"Huh?" Kearis replied.
"When we last met, I admit, i was....processing things and taking it out on you. That was unfair of me, and I apologize for that, but nonetheless, I need a clear explanation from you. I wish I could ask Iris and Xymaris too, but apparently they are missing." Alex explained, taking a seat on Kearis bed.
Kearis wanted to mention him sitting on her bed, but she decided to let it go.
"What do you want me to explain?" Kearis asked, taking a seat on a chair across from Alex.
"What am I to you, goddesses?" Alex asked. "Before, you basically said I was a tool for your goals, but is that really the truth?"
Kearis looked down and took a minute to think about how she would respond before saying "No..."
Alex didn't hesitate to ask "Then what is it?"
Kearis took a breath "All three of us have our goals, but we all shared one main priority...giving you another life."
"What?" Alex responded
"We just wanted you to be happy, you know...if we had our way, youd live out your days with your family, get married, have kids...the whole nine yards...but things didn't go as planned." Kearis explained.
"What do you mean?" Alex asked.
"In order to bring you back, we had to reincarnate you as Alex Blackwood...there wasn't any other alternatives. We didn't want you to suffer, but it was the only way we could bring you back to even have a chance at happiness. The thing that happened at the village—the massacre—we didn't have any control over that; it was set in stone, but we saw the opportunity to lead you down the path we needed you on. The path that gives you the best chance at happiness in your future...even if it causes you pain. All three of us cried for days when we thought about this, but we all came to a decision in the end. Not to change fate."
Kearis started to cry during her explanation.
"So at the end of the day...all three of you have done everything for me..." Alex said.
"Yes..." Kearis said as more tears fell down her cheek.
Alex sighed before standing up and grabbing Kearis, hugging her, and as he put his arm around her back and out his hand on the back of her head.
"I'm sorry, Kearis." Alex said.
"But what happened..." Kearis was going to say before being interrupted.
"It was out of your control, like you said. I blamed the three of you because of my own failings. I couldn't save them—any of them. That's my burden, nobody else's; I shouldn't have taken that out on any of you." Alex said, holding her tightly.
"Alex..." Kearis said, burying her head into his chest.
"I need to apologize to Kearis and Iris too; do you know where they are?" Alex asked.
"...no but I have a feeling." Kearis said.
She explained how she overheard Iris and Xymaris planning on going directly to Alex to apologize.
"They...what...."
