Alex and his friends were talking to Sophia, who had changed the entire conversation to revolve around one single word: fiancé.
"So what did you mean by that Alex is your fiancé?" Freya asked.
Sophia started to smile when replying to Freya's question, "When we were younger, my father made a deal with his that I would one day marry Alex."
"But our dad isn't here anymore; we don't know if he's even alive or dead, so isn't the deal off?" Raven asked.
"It would be...if my father declined it. However, he told me that you and him made a deal, Alex." Sophia explained.
"Oh..." Alex said out loud.
"What does she mean by that, Alex?" Seraphina asked.
Sophia smiled at Alex, ignoring all of the others from her focus. "Do you want to explain, or should I?"
All the girls turned their heads to Alex to listen to the explanation.
"I will; thanks to Seraphina, I'm trying to avoid misunderstandings." Alex said.
"Hey? What do you mean by that?" Seraphina asked.
"You know what I mean, any way back to explaining." Alex said before taking a deep breath. "When we were young and when I had just met her father Henry, I was already to be married to Sophia; however, I didn't like the idea of forcing a marriage onto her, so I made a deal with her father that Sophia could cut the betrothal off at anytime in exchange for me spending time with her."
Raven asked "Is that why you went over to their house so many times?"
"Yeah, that's why; it was part of the deal after all." Alex said.
"But wait...if she's still calling you her fiancé..." Amelie was starting to say before Sophia interrupted her.
"Then I never canceled our agreement." Sophia said, which shocked everyone.
Everyone had a mix of emotions; after all, they just learned that Alex was still going to be married to Sophia and that now that both of them are over the age of 16, it could happen at any time.
"So...do you plan on canceling it or not?" Alex asked with a bit of a cold attitude.
He didn't hate Sophia; in fact, he had fond memories of her house when they were younger. Sophia lived by a beautiful private beach, and the two would play there in the summer. However, right now he was not in the mood to go down memory lane; he didn't plan on ever running into her again and didn't plan on marrying her at that.
Sophia smiled at Alex. "I don't know; after all, it seems you have quite the selection of beauties to choose from if you want; maybe I should just keep you to myself." Sophia teased, which made all the girls angry at what she said: "But...maybe not; after all, we don't really know who each other is now; we're both different people than back when we were kids, which I'm sure you agree."
"That I do." Alex replied.
"Well, don't worry about the marriage thing for now, but for now, I'm not canceling the arrangement." Sophia said, which angered all the girls.
"Why?" Alex asked.
"I'm curious; after all, you pretty much disappeared from the public eye after what happened at the Blackwood estate, and then you suddenly pop back up at the entrance exam, becoming the top-ranked magic student. You can't tell me I shouldn't be interested in what happened to you." Shopa explained.
"Did you transfer here just for Alex?" Raven asked.
"No, there were other circumstances that made me transfer, but I did prefer going here compared to the Kearis Royal Academy; after all, I may be a noble, but I'm not a snob like them." Sophia said.
Sophia then smiled and bowed to everyone and said "Now this will be the end of our conversation. I have to get my schedule from the headmaster's office. Thank all of you for your time. It was good to see you again, Alex, and you too, Raven."
After the pipe-bomb Sophia had left the group, everyone decided to head to their rooms and start packing for the trip that would be taking place soon, but instead of going to their rooms, they all followed Alex back to his room first.
"So...why is it you're following me?" Alex asked as he put his keys into his room door.
"Whatever do you mean?" Seraphina said with an innocent smile.
"I mean...we all said we were going to get ready to pack, so why are all of you following me?" Alex asked.
"Can't a sister want to spend time with her brother?" Raven said innocently.
"I'm just following Raven; she has the room key after all." Freya said in a not-so-believable tone.
"I wanted to ask you to help train; after all, you've taught me a lot in our combat class." Amelie said truthfully.
"I'm royalty; I don't need to explain myself." Seraphina said blushing.
"Yeah, I'm following you because I want to." Claire said in an honest tone that she surprised the other girls.
"Well, thank you for your honesty, Claire and Amelie." Alex said using a bit of the gift he received from the goddess. He could read their emotions, and pretty much all of them were the same; they wanted to stay around him.
Claire smiled cutely, which made Alex do a double take. It was rare that she smiled, but that beautiful smile made Alex want to remember it every single time she did.
"Well, the thing is...before we go on the trip, I'm going to stop by the house. I need to ask a favor..." Alex said.
"From Aunt Lyanna or Mom?" Raven asked.
"Whichever of the two can help me with my problem, more than likely Aunt Lyanna could help me the best out of the two." Alex explained.
He needed to learn how to control his mana, and in order to do that, he needed to do one thing that he didn't want to do...ask his family for help.
