AN: Hey Everyone we're back from Hiatus. Spent some time getting myself together and working on my other story "A Yandere Space Princess is in Love with Me" which is currently getting tons of love so if you enjoy this story please go check out that one.

Im going to try and be more consistent with the days I'm writing this, also spent time thinking about where to direct the story and hopefully I can transition to that pretty well. So we'll see.

Thank you guys for the continued support and hopefully I can bring some more enjoyable reading to you all.

"My name is Austin, and I'm a commoner from the northern part of the empire. I'm also an A-rank mercenary, and first things first---

Welcome to Combat Class."

"Today we will be going over some basics. Now,  who here has faced real combat before in a life-or-death situation?"

Nobody in the room raised their hands, except for one person.

"Alex Blackwood, isn't it?" Austin asked.

"Yeah." Alex responded. "

"Tell me, what kind of combat have you faced?" Austin asked.

"Well, you may have more experience, but..."

Alex threw his mercenary guild badge at Austin. "I guess you can say we've taken similar paths."

"A B-Class Mercenary? At your age?" Austin asked.

"Surprised?" Alex asked.

"Yeah, to be honest, as the only other person here who has seen live combat, I'll need your help with this class. Is that okay?" Austin asked.

"Yes and no." Alex said.

"What do you mean?" Austin asked.

"Well, I believe experience is the only teacher in combat; your training doesn't matter since it was in a controlled environment; nothing can measure up to the chaos of a life-or-death battle. So I propose this..." Alex said, looking at the other students. "If any of you can make me bleed, how about an automatic A to start the first semester?

"You can't do that, Alex; I'm the teacher." Austin said.

"Austin, you know if any of them can make a B-ranked mercenary bleed, then they have some hidden talent. Since they are all newbies to this, why not test their mettle?" Alex said.

"Alright, Alex, but if they make you bleed, you automatically get a failing grade, deal?" Austin proposed thinking Alex was bluffing.

A smile on Alex's face appeared as he said "Deal."

"Okay, we'll start in..." Austin was saying before Alex shot lightning at one of the students, knocking them out.

"We start now; after all, no real battle has rules." Alex said before he ran towards the woods behind the school.

Austin sighed before saying "Well, you heard him; it's started right now. Go!"

All the students, including Amelie, charged into the woods to hunt Alex, who has done nothing but look down on them since class started.

Austin walked over to the knocked-out student and saw the lightning burn on the student's chest.

"He really fucking blasted this poor boy," Austin thought to himself. "Those students are in for it....maybe I should contact the nurses office."

The students ran into the woods to find Alex; however, none of them could see him.

"Watch the trees!" The slippery fucker is hiding." One of the students said.

Another student yelled out "Hey jackass! Where is your honor? Hiding and cheap shots—who does that?"

It was then that another streak of lightning hit the student who was taunting Alex.

"Honor doesn't guarantee victory." Alex said while he was hiding among the trees. "Honor gets you nothing if you wind up dead."

Then a group of three students were suddenly enveloped in a tornado of purple fire.

"Shit, where the hell is he?" One of the students yelled out.

"These guys don't know a thing about covering their bases; they're basically just charging around looking for me." Alex thought to himself.

One by one, Alex took out the combat class students without them even noticing.

"This guy is fucking playing games with us." One of the remaining students yelled.

"Eh, not really; after all, games are supposed to be competitive." Alex spoke from the trees before he struck another student with his lighting.

The combat students were down to three people left, including Amelie.

They stuck together and made shit to watch each other's backs.

"Where is this dude?" One of the students said.

"I've never seen him like this. It's kind of terrifying." Amelie said.

"Yeah, dude is scaring the hell out of me right now" one of the students said.

"It's good that you're scared; after all, that should tell me the difference between me and the three of you." Alex taunted them, appearing in front of them. "Now enough of the hunting; it's time to fight."

"What do you mean?" One of the students asked.

"Simply me versus the three of you, no holds barred. I won't even hold back against Amelie. So show me everything you have." Alex said smiling and preparing for the fight.

The three looked at each other, unsure about what to do. Alex was basically taunting them, wanting all three of them at once. However, one of the students, a boy with blonde hair, got a little cocky.

"Fine, you asked for this!" the boy yelled before hurling a bolt of yellow lightning at Alex.

However, Alex held out his hand, and the yellow lightning hit him right in his palm, and it stayed in his palm, almost as if it were a ball that Alex had caught.

Alex smiled and said "Wow...what are you, barely even an intermediate level one mage? How unbelievably weak."

Alex started to infuse his own magic into the lightning ball as the yellow of the lightning slowly turned purple and the size of it grew bigger and bigger.

"Now let me show you what real lightning magic is." Alex said before throwing the newly powered lighting at the blonde-haired boy that as soon as the lighting hit him, it was almost as if he was swallowed by the magic as the purple lighting covered his entire body, slowly making him lose consciousness from the pain.

"What...are you?" The other boy who witnessed this said.

"Nothing you can handle." Alex said.

He charged at the boy and punched him in the gut, making the boy spit out a mixture of saliva and blood before he dropped to the ground, coughing. Alex, however, decided to finish him off by landing one more punch on the boy, knocking him out.

And then there was one, Amelie.

"So, Amelie, are you ready?" Alex asked.

Amelie didn't say anything; instead, she got into her fighting stance and stared at Alex.

"Good, nice positioning, checking my openings; Aunt Lyanna taught you well." Alex said. "But is it enough?"

Alex charged at Amelie as she braced for impact.

A fight between cousins had just started.
