Chapter 62 - Chapter Sixty: Taking Care of the Bandits

AN: Hey guys just wanted to talk about something. Recently in my personal life I've been going through a bit of a funk and im aware that mayve been reflected through my writing as well. Some days it feels like Im just writing to get something out there instead of doing what all of you deserve and putting my all into it.

I plan on reinvesting myself into my writing and getting my head together. Just give me some time to get things straightened out and hopefully my writing quality will improve from now on.

On another note which is kind of a awkward segway from the last topic. I do plan on creating a 2nd series later this year which will have its own setting, characters and story so expect that around mid Fall 2023 maybe early if things go right.

Thank you guys for the support again and I can't believe we are almost at 100K views it means more than you know to me

"Are they the bandits?" Adelia asked.

"Coarse, smelly, and it looks like they enjoy killing for sport? I'd say it's them." Alex said.

"Alright, how should we handle this?" Kyssee said.

"I don't sense any magic users among them, so this should be pretty simple: overwhelm them with magic and make them submit. From there, take them out one by one, and mission accomplished." Adelia said.

"Agreed, Kyssee, do you know any magic?" Claire asked.

"I know some earth magic, but I'm more proficient with my weapons." Kyssee said before bringing out two daggers.

The daggers kind of reminded him of Kaede's with how they looked so unique in design. Kyssee's daggers had green handles with what seemed to be runes written on the blade of the dagger.

"Where did you get daggers that look like that?" Claire asked Kyssee.

"Oh, these belong to my family; my family has three runic weapons, each given to certain members of the family. My father has the sword, and my mother has the bow. They all have similar runes on them." Kyssee explained.

"Well, good, Kyssee, use your speed to pick off any runners once we three go down and start terrorizing them. So here's the plan..." Alex said.

*A few minutes later*

"Boss, you alright?" One of the bandits asked their leader, who was sitting on a tree stump, while counting gold from a sack that belonged to a trade convoy they recently raided.

"It's starting to get a bit chilly, don't you think?" the boss asked his subordinate.

"Now that you mention it...."

"Now!"

Suddenly, the entire camp was surrounded by a wall of ice with only one opening.

"What the fuck?"

"A ice wall?"

"Is it mercenaries?"

The bandits were confused and made a run for the small opening; however, the two who first reached the opening were cut down in quick succession by a beastkin girl with two daggers.

"A cat bitch?" the boss said.

"What is a beastkin doing here?!" one of the bandits yelled out.

However, those thoughts were quickly directed towards something else.

A man was standing on the wall of ice looking down upon the bandits, purple lightning streaks appearing behind him while he was holding a long sword that none of the bandits recognized.

"Who the hell are you?" The bandit leader asked.

They got no answer, just a smile.

All that could be heard were screams and lightning strikes for miles. The four massacred the bandits; some were cut down with sword and/or dagger cuts on their bodies; some were completely frozen in ice; and others had burn marks on precise points of their bodies.

"Well, that was easier than I thought." Claire said.

"We spent more time talking to Kyssee than actually taking care of these bandits..." Alex commented.

"It was a good plan though; there was no way for them to escape." Adelia complimented Alex's plan.

"Well, thank you, Adelia." Alex said.

Adelia had a slight blush on her face and said "Oh, you're welcome, Alex."

Through Alex's training with Adelia, the two had grown closer. While Alex tended to bottle his feelings down, Adelia wasn't great at hiding them; she would blush and act nervous at times when talking to Alex, which Claire caught on to quickly. After all, Claire was the same way with Alex. Adelia didn't know how she truly felt about Alex, but she still wanted to be around him. She did know when and where to turn off her emotions in order to complete a mission, however.

The group of four went back to the village and turned in the quest, along with telling the villages where the supplies were so they could take their wagons to pick up the remaining supplies.

The mercenary guild master thanked the group and paid them the amount the job was offered for. They all split it in four, an equal amount for everyone, as they returned to the inn in order to get some dinner.

"So Kyssee, is coming with us a short-term or a long-term thing?" Adelia asked Kyssee, who was looking through the menu, to order something.

"Well, I plan on staying with Alex for awhile before I have to return home, of course, only if that's okay with you, Alex." Kyssee said, looking at Alex.

"Sure, if you want to come, I'm okay with it. How about you two?" Alex asked Claire and Adelia.

"I'm fine with it." Adelia said.

"Sure, but she's not sleeping in your room, understand?" Claire said, looking at Kyssee.

"Absolutely!" Kyssee promised Claire, but Alex could see her crossing her fingers while saying that.

From that day on, the four began traveling the southern part of the empire together, taking jobs as mercenaries as they went from town to town. Kyssee officially registered with the guild as well. After a few months, Alex became a B-rank mercenary guild member as they traveled through the towns.

However, one day, Alex and the group arrived in the town of Silentmore. A town that was destined to have a grim fate.
