* The Previous Night*
Alex, Adelia, Claire, and the wolf girls were sitting around a campfire that Adelia and Severa had put together.
They were eating some food that was apparently stolen from the town and talking to each other.
Reyna, whose health was improving by the minute, asked Alex about his past, which Alex explained in full detail. Adelia was shocked, as she didn't even know about the fact he killed his brother, raided the cathedral in Lapis City, killed the oldest of the Tarren boys, and saved his sister.
After he told all of them about his past, he asked them the same question.
"What's your story? You knew who that mayor guy was by name, so obviously you had history." Alex asked.
Severa closed her eyes and took a deep breath, then began explaining.
"Three years ago, I used to live in Thornwell with my daughters and my husband. Before I lived there, we lived with my pack out in the woods. We had our own small village just for our members, but we weren't without conflict. There was a neighboring pack who were our rivals; we fought over everything: land, food, you name it, we fought for it. My father was the Alpha of our pack, and one day we managed to capture the son of the alpha of the rival pack, the man who would be my future husband. I took personal charge of making sure he was given food and drink, and on days where my father was busy, I'd talk to him for hours before we soon fell in love. My father, however, soon found out. I was exiled by my own father from the pack, but I didn't leave without the man I loved. I broke him out of his prison, and we ran away together. He didn't want to go back to his pack because of his family. We eventually found a small town in the middle of nowhere called Thornwell. Their mayor at the time welcomed us; their people, however, had a less than warm reception, but we still raised our family with Daria and Reyna being born. There were a few who didn't care about us being Wolfkin, but the majority never interacted with us. However, everything changed when the old mayor passed away. His younger brother took over, and, well you saw him and how he acted. We were attacked in our own home by the more hateful townspeople and the guards. We tried to fight, but my husband...didn't make it out. They poisoned him, and he died a few days later. Ever since we've been here hiding in this cave, you know the rest of the story."
"Why does every Romeo and Juliet story go horribly wrong?" Alex thought to himself.
Alex had felt sorry for each of the girls but was also worried what would they do now without a home.
"What will you do now? Your home here has been discovered; however, the mayor is dead. There are more possibilities for you three now." Alex said to Severa.
Reyna and Daria looked at their mother, also wondering.
"I don't know. We won't stay here; we're too exposed now." Severa said.
Hearing this, Alex wanted to make sure they had a reliable source of help if they needed it.
"Well, if you need any help, go to the royal capital and find Lyanna Morrigan. Say you were sent by me; they will help you." Alex said.
"Who's Lyanna Morrigan?" Severa asked.
"My Aunt, my mother, cousin, and sister are also there; if you find yourself in that direction and need assistance, they will help you without question. As long as you bring up my name, that is." Alex said.
"Okay, you helped us, so I'll trust you; we'll ask them for help if we need it." Severa said. "Well, it's getting late; we should all turn in for the night."
"Yeah, we need to get moving early in the morning, they will send a search party by sunrise." Adelia said.
"Wait before we go; I've been wondering. How old are all of you two?" Claire asked Reyna and Daria.
"Oh! We're a year apart. I'm 18, and Reyna here is 17. Daria explained.
"So we're all around the same age then." Adelia said.
Alex looked at all the wolf girls, each of them beautiful in their own way. Each of them having distinct traits, Severa was built like a true warrior, Daria was similar to her mother but had a wilder and more fun loving personality and Reyna was a bit more shy than her mother and sister.
"Why is every girl I meet a absolute beauty?" he thought to himself.
With that, everyone said their goodnights and went to sleep.
Except for one person.
"He did what?"
Reyna was just told what happened before she woke up.
"He...kissed me? Like you actually kissed me?" Reyna asked her sister.
"Yeah, and even though it wasn't intentional, you know what that means!" Daria teased her sister.
Reyna blushed as her thoughts started flowing through her mind.
"It's not complete, though, right?" Reyna asked.
"Not yet, but we both know what this means." Daria said while smiling.
Reyna blushed even more.
"I mean, he's handsome at least, and he seems nice." Daria said.
"But I'm not ready for that!" Reyna said.
"Sorry, sis, but it's already in motion." Daria teased her sister.
Reyna then put her head into her pillow while still blushing.
*Later that night*
Reyna snuck out of the cave and unzipped one of the tents that Alex's group was staying in.
Alex was asleep laying on the top of his sleeping bag with a blanket covering him, so Reyna quietly walked into the tent and sat next to where Alex was sleeping.
Just looking at his face caused her to blush. He had such a peaceful look that it took her by surprise.
"I guess this isn't so bad after all." Reyna thought to herself.
She leaned over Alex while blushing and put her soft lips to his, which caused a magic sign to appear on her chest and the same sign to appear on Alex's.
"It's done..." Reyna quietly said.
Reyna then laid down next to Alex, and covered herself with the same blanket he used.
"Goodnight, Alex." She said this while whispering and staring at his handsome sleeping face.
*The next morning*
"What...the..."
Alex had woken up early, and the first thing he saw shocked him to the core. Reyna was next to him in her sleepwear, still asleep while laying on his chest.
"Why does this keep happening?" he thought to himself.
He had wondered how she managed to sneak in so easily but then a voice from outside his tent spoke out to him.
"Alex, are you awake?"
It was Adelia who was the first to wake up in the morning.
"How the hell am I going to explain this?" Alex thought to himself.
Alex moved very gently out of Reyna's grasp and snuck out of the tent.
"Oh, hey Alex" Adelia greeted him.
"Hey, so we're leaving soon, I'm guessing?" he asked her.
"Yeah, pack up your tent; we should leave in about half an hour." Adelia said.
Alex nodded and yawned and went back into his tent; however, to his surprise, Reyna was gone.
"How...you know what? I'm not going to question it." Alex said to himself.
Alex assumed Reyna's advanced hearing being a wolfkin made her wake up to Alex's and Adelia's conversation.
He quickly packed the tent away and walked over to Adelia and Claire, who were about ready to leave, and then they were greeted by the wolf girls.
"Are you guys leaving now?" Daria asked.
"Yes, we need to leave before their search parties come; you guys should do the same." Adelia said.
"We will; we've already started packing, but it's not like we have a lot of stuff anyway." Severa said.
Reyna couldn't break eye contact with Alex, which Daria quickly noticed.
"You did it, didn't you?" she asked her sister Reyna, who blushed even harder.
Severa also looked at Alex and had a small smirk on her face.
"That sneaky daughter of mine." she thought to herself.
After saying their goodbyes, Alex's group left the wolf girls and started heading down the road.
Severa and the girls waved goodbye; however, Severa had some other concerns at the moment.
"So...Reyna. You marked him, didn't you?" Severa asked her daughter.
"Y-yes." Reyna said.
"So tell me, what happened?" Severa asked her daughter.
"Well, Daria told me, when he cured me when I was poisoned, he had to k-kiss me to make sure I drank it, which meant the process had started..." Reyna said.
"So you accepted him as your mate, then?" Severa said.
"Y-yes mother." Reyna said, smiling.
"Oh, Alex, if only you knew about our traditions." Severa thought to herself.
"It's fine, Reyna. As long as you two accept each other when you meet him next." Severa told her daughter.
Reyna could sense where Alex was as he disappeared from her sight. She smiled at the fact that she now knew where he was at all times.
He was marked to her after all.
