"Sorry, Doc," I said with a cringe as the wrist blades on Da'kea's armor extended in a really unfriendly manner. I was pretty sure that a simple apology was not going to go over well, but I liked the woman, so I was willing to try and smooth things over.
"It's been a long few months, as I am sure you can imagine, and the guys take pretty much everything we say literally. They think that you are actually going to open me up and see inside me," I explained, narrowing my eyes at Da'kea. I wanted and needed Doctor Deshaye a lot more than I wanted and needed him at this second.
"Apologies," grunted Da'kea as he sheathed his blades. "Witnessing the youngling has made me worried about the safety of my mate."
Dr. Deshaye looked at him with a very unimpressed look on her face, but I had to hand it to her; she hadn't flinched a bit.
