Chapter 31 - Meeting An Old Friend

"Are you sure this will work?" Dean asked Derek who nodded his head in reply.

"It's been a month already and I believe the enemy must be fully ready for a second attack. Therefore, we will use this opportunity to rat out who the informant is, this way, we can also catch the enemy, killing two birds with one stone," he replied.

"What about the students? Do you think they are mentally fit to partake?" Dean asked Derek.

"It's already a month, the students are fine. They shouldn't be your worry," Derek replied.

"If you say so, go on with the arrangements then," Dean said.

"I will," Derek said and then left the office.

After he left, the Dean relaxed on his chair and heaved a sigh. The thought of having a mole in his school was something he had never expected, if the news got out to the public, he was certain that it would greatly affect his reputation and that of his school. While he was still thinking, the air around his office suddenly became cold and before he could even realize it, a figure appeared right next to him. He sprang to his feet the moment he noticed there was an intruder in his office but seeing the person, he froze in shock.

"Brother, you don't seem eager to welcome me," the man said with a glint in his eyes.

"What are you doing here?" Dean asked him. The coldness in his voice indicated that he was no near happy to see this his so-called brother.

"Hah, offer me a chair and drink, will you?" The young man said with a smile.

Dean got up and moved away from the table. "I have no intention to welcome you here, besides, I have better things to do," he said and made to leave the office but the young man moved rapidly and blocked his way.

"Is that so? Be careful... those you trust will end up betraying you, I have no intention of consoling you during that time," he said to Dean who was for a moment stunned by his words.

"What do you mean?" Dean asked him.

"It's just a friendly reminder. I came to tell you that and now, I'll be off," the young man replied and chuckled as his presence faded away from the office.

Standing alone in the office, Dean clenched his hands. He knew that his brother was right but he didn't want to believe it. He trusted a lot of his teachers, so who could be the one stabbing him in the back? Not knowing what to think again, he punched the wall and sighed afterward before returning to his chair.

Meanwhile, after Derek had left Dean's office, he went straight to the announcement room and picked up the mic.

"Attention, everyone!" He began. "There is going to be an inter-house sport a week from today, you all are required to get prepared in advance. Failure is not an option and will never be so you must get prepared for it. That will be all for now, further announcements will be made later." After he was done, he dropped the mic and left the room. Outside, he met Alex, Raphael, and Klein waiting for him by the door.

"Sir, Derek. What is the meaning of that announcement?" Klein asked him

"What else could it mean?" Derek asked him back. "I believe you heard the announcement well enough, you should go and start preparing for it. Don't end up losing to anyone this time around," he said and began to walk away.

The three boys glanced at each other and began to follow him as well.

"But sir, we were just recently attacked by monsters, do you think it's a good idea?" Klein asked him again but didn't get any reply. He frowned and increased his pace and upon getting to where Derek was, he grabbed him by the arm only to receive a slap in the face.

"Follow me to my office, the three of you!" Derek said in an angry tone and walked away. When they got to his office, he placed a veil around his room before going to sit down. "Did you three notice that we were being followed?" He asked them.

"I did notice that someone was watching us," Alex replied while Raphael nodded.

Derek turned to Klein who lowered his head as he was the only one who was not able to notice that something was off.

"Some matters can not be discussed just anywhere because we don't know who the spy is," Derek said to them.

"Sir, the inter-house sport is just a cover right?" Alex asked Derek who nodded his head. "But do you think it'll work? What if something unexpected happens that day?" He asked again.

"That is why I have the three of you," Derek replied, confusing the three boys who glanced at each other before turning back to him. "I believe there is something you, Alex aren't telling me but I simply don't care as long as you don't betray me or the Dean. Now back to what we were discussing, on that day, I want the three of you to be the most prepared students because they are going to attack us again. This time, the teachers will be around to fight but I will still need the three of you to join us as it won't be just a simple fight. Do you understand me?"

"What if we chose not to fight?" Alex asked him. "You can't force us, right?"

"I'm sorry but if it involves the use of force, I will gladly do it as long as you three join us. Take it as a way of getting used to fights so that you will learn something new along the line," Derek replied and then removed the veil. "The three of you must practice and win during the inter-house sport. Don't embarrass me on that day!"

"We won't," Klein replied.

"You can go," Derek said to them, and then they left the office.

On their way, they could not help but notice that they were still being followed, as such, they diverted and began to head to a more remote area of the school. When they got there, they stood and looked around, they were still being followed.

"Show yourself, now!" Klein said, loud enough for whoever was following them to hear.

It took some time before the sound of a chuckle was heard, followed by an approaching footsteps. They failed to notice the person until he appeared right next to Alex and grabbed his neck, pushing him to a wall.

"We meet again, nephew," the young man said to Alex with a wide smile.

"D-Damon?" Alex mumbled in shock. He was stunned to see Damon anywhere in the school.

"Yes, that's me. We meet again," Damon replied with a chuckle. "You've carefully hidden away from me all this time but nothing can be hidden forever, how do you feel seeing me again?" He asked Alex who tried to push him away from him.

Klein and Raphael rushed to help him but as they got close, Damon stretched out his arm towards them, and in the next second, they were seen floating in the air.

"You wouldn't want me to kill them too, right?" He asked Alex with a smirk.

This just reminded Alex of the death of his parents and the one who killed them. He didn't want that happening to those two boys who had been next to him for a while now.

"What the hell do you want?" He asked Damon. Inwardly, he could not help but curse at himself for still being weak.

"Let's have a little combat, here and right now!" Damon replied and releasing Alex a bit, he sent him a powerful punch that made him fly some distance away from their original position.
