Chapter 26 - A Blessing In Guise part 2

"James!" They yelled but it was already too late as the boy's head was sent flying out of his head. They watched as his headless body fell to the ground and blood rushed out from the hole in his neck.

"Damn it!" Senior Matt cursed out in anger. He looked over at Abigail and saw how tired she looked, he then took her and walked her to a place safe and hidden before returning to where the other students were.e

"What do we do?" One of them asked him. The fight was clearly beyond them because they had never fought monstrous monsters like the ones standing before them. "I think we should run," the boy added.

"No! We won't, we can't!" Senior Matt replied.

"Then find a solution! We can not continue standing here or they'll charge at us first," the boy said.

"How can I find a solution?—" Seeing that their conversation was turning into an argument, Klein decided to say something.

"Let's not argue any longer, it's embarrassing. Since no one wants to go first, I'm willing to do so," he said.

"What? How can you possibly do that or didn't you see what happened to James?" Senior Matt asked. He clearly didn't like Klein's suggestion one bit.

"Or are you willing to do so?" Klein asked him, silencing him abruptly. "You aren't willing, no one here is but I am. I'm ready to attack first, I'll try to create an opening for you guys."

Senior Matt was clearly not in support of Klein's abrupt suggestion and would like to do anything to stop him but like said, he was not willing to go, not when he saw how James died.

"Do what you want but don't die on me!" He said to Klein who scoffed and turned and began to head towards the monsters. He stretched out his right hand and a long pointed sword appeared on it.

"I must make everyone who laughed at me, made fun of me, and insulted me eat their words soon!" He muttered as he approached where the monsters were standing.

Nearing the middle, one of the monsters rushed at Klein, and in response, Klein clasped his sword firmly and got ready to fight. The monster jumped into the air to create an opening for its attack but Klein also followed suit, he jumped into the air above the falling monster and then slashed off the monster's arm. The monster landed on the floor while its arm fell afterward, It wanted to regenerate as quickly as it could but Klein wouldn't let it do so as he also landed on the floor behind it and began to attack.

"Is he going to be fine?" The other students were watching from afar but they felt that Klein would have some difficulty dealing with the monster.

"Since he believes in his strength, I'll also do the same," Senior Matt replied.

"Among us all here right now, he is the most capable one. I wouldn't want him to lose," a student said with concern.

"When he gives us the signal, we'll dive into action," senior Matt replied.

While a huge commotion was taking place in the dining hall, Alex who was in his room was oblivious to what was happening until he heard a loud rumble coming from the outside. Curious, he came out of bed and opened his door, while he was doing so, Raphael also opened his door and came out from his room.

"Did you hear that?" Alex asked him.

"I did...It's likely coming from the dining hall area," Raphael replied.

"Should we go check it out?" Alex asked him.

"I think we should," Raphael replied. And so, without changing their bedclothes, the two boys left the dorms and headed towards the dining area. On their way, they saw the students who were running away in fright and they stopped one to ask him.

"What's going on?" Alex asked the boy.

"Monsters are all over the place, you better hide!" The boy replied and ran off immediately.

"Monsters?" Alex mumbled and glanced at Raphael who signaled for them to go check it out.

They increased their pace and ran towards the dining hall which was somewhat far from their dorm. Upon getting to the dining area, Alex halted and signaled for Raphael to stop.

"I sense a lot of strong demonic energies coming out from inside there, those monsters may not be ordinary monsters. I do not think it's something we can handle on our own, should we still go check it out? Or we retreat now?" Alex said and asked Raphael.

Raphael turned to the entrance to the hall, he could as well feel the powerful aura that surrounded the whole place but he wanted so much to test his new powers. The only way to do it is to engage in real fights like this one and not just the one between students.

"I'd love to check it out," he replied to Alex who smiled a bit.

"Don't end up dying on me," Alex said to him.

"Don't worry about me, worry about yourself," Raphael replied and Alex scoffed.

"Shall we?" He asked after the scoff.

"Yes!" Raphael replied with a determined gaze. After his reply, the two of them glanced at each other before nodding their heads and walking towards the entrance.

As soon as they stepped their feet into the hall, the first thing their eyes caught were the countless bodies of their fellow students that were scattered all over the whole place. Alex looked around, he noticed that they were wearing different uniforms that indicated that they were second and third-year students. Not all of them were dead but they were severely injured and unable to move. Talking about the monsters, he glanced at the monsters that were standing and looking around, all the monsters were still intact and not one of them was dead as he didn't see any dead monsters lying on the floor.

"Alex! It's Klein!" Raphael called out to him from where he was standing.

Alex turned and saw Raphael standing next to Klein who was lying in the pool of his blood and headed over there. Getting there, he lowered himself and gazed at Klein whose eyes were closed. Seeing how thoroughly bettered, Alex's brows twitched.

"What do you think?" Raphael asked him.

Alex placed his fingers above Klein's nostrils and seeing that he was still breathing, he stood up. "They are no ordinary monsters," he replied, staring in the direction of the monsters.

"What should we do?" Raphael asked. He understood that they were no ordinary monsters before them but they could not simply walk away.

"We have to walk away," Alex replied. "We are no match for them."

"But—" Raphael wanted to say something but Alex turned and glared at him.

"Do you want to die?" He asked him. Raphael could feel the change in his voice and as such, he lowered his head in submission. This time around, Alex wasn't speaking to him like a friend would do to his fellow friend but like a master to his servant. His voice conveyed authority and as the subject, he is required to submit willingly as he should. "This isn't our fight, let us leave," he said and turned to leave but something cold suddenly grabbed him on the leg, hindering his movement that instant. Looking down, he saw Klein's bloodied hand holding his leg.
