Chapter 14 - Chapter 12

Bhisma entered the room, no one daring to stop him, his eyes glazing fire. For centuries, generations, he had protected the family. No one had ever questioned his judgement, nor his military achievements. His power was in a league of its own.

For the first time in a long time was he this enraged. The last time someone had lied to him, he had conquered the Gandhar Kingdom. Now, it was worse. Someone from his own family had lied, hidden the truth, from him.

Karna pulled back Kunti and stood like a guard in front of him. He slowly circulated his Kundalini Shakti within him and manifested it as a warning. A warm golden aura glowed around him, creating a shield around his brothers and mother.

"Do not raise your tone, brother. Do not forget that the person you are talking to is my mother."

"Shut up! The adults are talking! Do not interrupt!"

Karna was taken aback. In all his life, no one had spoken aloud to him, except the ocassional playful times his Gurumata lectured him. The abruptness of the situation surprised him so much that he forgot to circulate his Kundalini Shakti, as it vanished into thin air.

The Pandav brothers were surprised as well. Their Pitamaha was someone who always advocated for silent grace, had never raised his voice. They had heard stories, yes, but never the full extent of his strength. Thus it came as quite a surprise, when that same Pitamaha raised his voice, at Kunti, his favourite great grand-daughter in-law.

Kunti slowly walked out from behind Karna, smiling encouragingly at him. Although worried, Karna moved back. However, he summoned Vel in his hand, ready to strike like a naga. Kunti walked to the front of Bhishm, her head held high with honour and prestige.

"Express your concerns, Pitamaha."

"Express? EXPRESS! YOU DARE SAY THOSE WORDS TO MY FACE? AFTER LYING, HIDING THE TRUE HERITAGE OF MY FIRST-BORN GRANDSON, THE RIGHTFUL HEIR TO KURUVANSH FROM ME?"

The Pandavas winced at the raised volume of Bhishma's still strong voice. the voice that once commanded armies, now told grievances.

'Thank God I isolated the room before the conversation started. Otherwise the entire castle would be shaking right now.'

Yet Karna was astounded at his birth-mother's patiente. Despite his large volume, and scandalous threatens, she never flinched. Her eyes simply gained a steely resolve.
