CHAPTER 3: The Attempt to Help.
Despite his parents' reaction, I continued to support Samuel at school and tried to create a safe and protective environment for him. During classes, I tried to keep him close to me, offering words of encouragement and assuring him that I was there for him. Although Samuel no longer shared the details of his daily life, I could see the pain and sadness in his eyes.
One day, when I had already lost hope that the situation would be resolved, Samuel approached me with a smile on his face. It was the same radiant smile that used to light up his face before everything changed. He handed me a cellphone and whispered, "It's 02.04.69, my aunt always lends it to me to play, and one day I saw the passcode."
My hands trembled as I held the phone. I knew I had to unlock it and see what was inside, but I also felt afraid of what I might find. However, the responsibility to protect Samuel was stronger than my fear. I unlocked the phone and was stunned by what I saw.
Tears filled my eyes as I watched the recordings on the phone. They were unmistakable evidence of the inappropriate acts Samuel had mentioned. I felt a mix of indignation and pain in the face of the terrible truth that was revealed.
At that moment, several students noticed my distress and approached to console me, unaware of the cause of my despair. I tried to compose myself and put away the phone, aware that I had to act with caution and follow the proper procedures to protect Samuel.
As I tried to process what I had discovered, Samuel quickly returned to the classroom. I looked up to follow him with my eyes, but before I could take a single step, I saw him climbing out of the window and positioning himself on the ledge. Incredulity took hold of me as my heart raced.
Without thinking, I jumped up and quickly approached the window. I tried to call out to Samuel, but it was already too late. With a sudden movement, little Samuel leaped into the void, extending his arms as if he could fly.
I screamed desperately and ran to the window, but it all happened too quickly. Samuel's body quickly moved away while I remained paralyzed by the tragedy I had just witnessed.
The sound of the emergency alarm echoed through the school, and my students and colleagues rushed to the scene. Everyone was confused and distressed by what they had witnessed. Tears continued to flow down my cheeks as I faced the sad reality that I couldn't save Samuel.
The police and emergency services arrived quickly. It was a chaotic and sorrowful moment as we all tried to comprehend what had happened. The news spread rapidly, plunging the school and the community into deep shock. The following days were marked by mourning and the search for answers. Exhaustive investigations were conducted, and measures were taken to ensure the safety of the other students.
